Introduction
The Runes I use are Greater Mark of Desolation, Greater Quintessence of Desolation,
,
,
, and
.
You definitely want the Greater Mark of Desolation for Armor Pen. and then plus what you get from items, you could just about do "true damage". Same thing applies to Greater Quintessence of Desolation it adds to the Armor pen. I am still changing my runes though. Those are the main two types of runes you definitely want. Soon I will have all Greater Glyph of Attack Speed for Attack Speed and Greater Seal of Cooldown Reduction for ability cool downs. I haven't fully decided yet on that.

This is where you need the DPS masteries. Some people have used 22/8/0 before however I like 22/0/8 for Nocturne. You can reduce you time spent dead, increase your health and mana regeneration, and increase your base mana. I have 3 points in
, 1 point in
, 4 points in both
and
, 3 points in
, 3 points in
, 3 points in
, and 1 point in
. This is what I've come to call, "DPS Offense Tree". Then over in Utility I have, 1 point in
, 3 points in Perseverance, and the remaining 4 points in
. I don't quite have a name reference for this tree.
The items and order needed is based on my own game play and strategy. If you aren't a "Charge in, Rip everyone new *********s" then this is probably not for you. I have tried an AP build with Nocturne seeing as how his fear runs off AP and I think another ability of his but I can't remember for sure but this is what I have to say about that....DO NOT TRY IT!!!! You will be Cream pied before you get first good item. In any case, here is the order and such I get my items in. First off I start out with and 3 so I can stay in-lane a bit longer before I have to go back to base for health and so I can run back faster than I could without . Then you should finish off the and if you can go ahead and get if you can't save for it. If you have to, you can break it down too. After you have gotten start on getting your . This is where I change it up depending on what I may need more. If I need more damage I will get the first...If I am dying too fast I will get the . After getting finish off your by turning it into a . Now the next item, I usually want more damage after I have gotten more Attack Speed so, I get another and then another and then to finish that buy . At this point you should only have 2 open slots for items. These slots should be filled with and which will make it cheaper to get your . The last Item you will want would be a For more Attack Speed. Now there is a variant to this build I use and I cannot take credit for this part, but instead of the last 2 items you could replace them with 2 more to have about 75% lifesteal. Of course, you will have to be constantly hitting something to stay alive. Credit for this goes to Summoner XWeaponX. Thanks man. I hope this makes sense to anyone who reads it.
Farming with Nocturne isn't too hard but it isn't easy either. Use
to farm large masses of minions and when a new line of minions come at you shoot it straight at them. Then of course, there is Nocturne's Active/passive ability, Umbra Blades, after 5 melee attacks Nocturne will do an AOE attack and hit anything surrounding him. those are the best things I've found to farm with.
