Can and will invade your ***, his whole kit is direct counter to yours, doesn't scale that much worse than you and has a mile better early game, solid candidate for permban. If you face him start raptors and use your E dot to determine whether he is trying something cheeky when you go to your blue side.
Master Yi
You can pretty much never 1v1 this champ when on even footing, his W and Q absolutely trash your R. His ganks, farming and movement is much weaker than yours so outfarm and track his *** to hopefully prevent him from getting fed. Solid ban pick below Emerald.
Fiddlesticks
Absolutely disgusting champ to face as Kayn, outvalues you heavily in teamfights and outscales your ***. His W buffers through your ult so don't even try to cheese him as Shadow Assasin as he will pretty much one shot you with it later on in the game. Try to shutdown his vision as much as possible and buy a **** ton of Pink Wards. Fiddle Diddle is my personal PERMBAN as he is only played by extremely capable OTPs.
Lulu
Any enchanter support that provides huge shields/buffs is a Shadow Assassins nightmare, rush Serpent's Fang as your second item and unironically try to bait her Ult before commiting to an all in Ult play on enemy ADC.
Vi
Her point and click stun is extremely annoying to face as Shadow Assassin, she can also easily invade you lvl 3 on your Raptors and Gromp as well as snowball the game before you outscale. Track her HARD before getting form, past that she can't do **** to you.
Pantheon
Point and click stun, what else to say? His early game is HUGE so you have to avoid him and track his *** so he can't W your teammates to death. In opposite to public opinion he doesn't fall of that much late game, but Rhaast can handle him easily.
Shaco
During the writing of this guide I got invaded 5 times on my red by a Shaco OTP. The clown is pure mental matchup, he falls of once you get your form and despite Shadow Assassin being vulnerable to his kit your escape tools are vastly superior to his.
Elise
She WILL try to lvl 3 cheese you 99% of the times, abuse your E dot and let go of your camps if necessary. Counter jungle and invade her as you see fit, she is no threat to you lvl 6 onwards.
Rengar
LVL3 invade merchant, he falls of hard and is incredibly weak at the time of me writing this guide. Just don't let him cheese you and you will be fine.
Anivia
This annoying birdo is complete nightmare to face as Shadow Assassin, if she has her passive do not even think about ulting her as you have absolutely 0 tools to destroy that f*cking egg.
Lissandra
Built in Zhonyas, do I even need to say anything? Do NOT touch her as Shadow Assassin.
Lillia
Champ outscales you and breaks your ankles as Rhaast, as well as shuts you down as Shadow Assassin. Luckily her early game is worse than yours and you can counter her ult with yours. Voltaic/Yoomu's is absolutely necessary to deal with her.
Amumu
Skill match up, good amumu will CC you to death, however he can't shutdown Shadow Assassin easily and neither can he 1v1 Rhaast. Just be aware of his R in teamfights and you should be fine.
Kindred
Skill match up, your ult counters hers as soon as she tries some tricks with it you can safely ult her and just wait it out to finish her off with QW. You outfarm her hard and your mobility is superior.
Bel'Veth
Beware the early cheese on raptors, Void mommy is no joke.
Nunu & Willump
A good Nunu can "snowball" the game really hard early, you have to track him and shut him down so you can scale in peace. He can't and won't invade you and neither he can fight you as both forms have tools directly countering his whole kit.
Diana
Respect her early game power, she outfarms you but you outscale.
Kha'Zix
Probably the toughest invade match up, Kha has just way too many escape tools to reliably outplay him. You eventually outscale but do keep your eyes and ears open, get some cheeky control ward in his jungle to avoid his R.
Udyr
The only champion whose mobility on the map rivals yours, he is extremely strong at all stages on the game, if he goes AD you can't 1v1 him but you outvalue him in teamfights, if he goes AP you can 1v1 but he outvalues you in teamfights. Keep that in mind and your good to go.
Karma
Serpents Fang NOW, as soon as you get your core item that **** is needed. Her interaction with Moonstone is pure cancer.
Ekko
A skill matchup, it's basically a fight between who baits whose ult first.
Naafiri
If AIDS was a champion it would be this annoying Dog, she can nullify your R on command and has one billion dashes. Have fun and enjoy, thanks Riot...
Talon
The strongest QWR in history vs the strongest QWR of today. It's a conflip matchup except Talon has the advantage of running ignite. You outscale, outfarm and outgank him but his delete button isn't a joke.
Xin Zhao
You cannot 1v1 this beast early game on any forms and you will not touch him at all as Shadow Assassin. As Rhaast you have very little room for error if he has his R and his healing rivals yours. His early game ganks are extremely dangerous and he CAN invade you. Tracking is a must, avoid at all cost.
Jarvan IV
While his early ganks can set your team behind he can't really threat you directly, his ult can't touch you and Rhaast straight up murders him.
Evelynn
***** mofo can't touch you at all unless extremely fed, Edge of Night ruins her day by cancelling her W proc. She is dead by one good combo at all points of the game after you get your form.
Mordekaiser
A rare encounter and relatively not threatening. You farm and move around faster. You can't touch him until you get your form. Past that Rhaast demolishes him and Shadow Assasin both kites him and kills him with the help of Serpents Fang.
Gwen
At the time of writing this guide champ is mega broken, however her ganks are terrible and without ghost she can't catch up to you at all. Play around her W cooldown and you should be fine. As long as you don't allow her to hit all R missiles and fully stacked Q she can't do anything. As Shadow Assassin she dies to one good Dark Harvest procc while Rhaast with Maw is unkillable.
Gragas
His clear is terrible and his mobility non existent, however his ganks are strong and once he is full build your getting cooked by his full combo. I like to lvl1 invade his raptors to set him behind once and for all.
Ivern
Ivern guys are one of the most chill players out there, however he is an absolute menace to face. He doesn't need any resources to be annoying mosquito and he has the fastest clear in the game. However his passive clear leaves open window for invade which he can't contest so that's an option depending on your team. The fact that he is a niche OTP champion doesn't help either, but you do outscale.
Zyra
She outfarms you, however she is paper tissue which can never face you on 1v1. Just track her so she can't surprise your team with early gank and your fine. Take vision control of objectives and contest them when you have prio.
Skarner
You outfarm and outscale him. Other than early gank advantage this champ is pretty much useless in SoloQ.
Olaf
A niche pocket pick. He offers no value to his team other than the fact you can't contest objectives against him solo until you get your form. He has 0 map pressure so just avoid him until you can turn into Rhaast.
Trundle
You can never beat him 1v1 unless giga behind, his whole game plan will be about setting you behind by perma invading and contesting. It's a pure knowledge check matchup. You have to counterjungle or your cooked. His low mobility and lack of hard CC makes it easy as heck to track and avoid him tho.
Sejuani
Dead champ in SoloQ, Rhaast demolishes her ALWAYS, while Shadow Assassin can't be caught by her at all.
Brand
Champ is dead in the Jungle, however his passive buffers through your R and is extremely annoying to face. Keep that in mind while versing him.
Sylas
Dead champ in the Jungle, however he is incredibly difficult to gank early on due to his sticking power. Would advise to avoid until getting your form.
Jax
Rare encounter without much threat, you can have some trouble 1v1ing him later on, but he is easy to kite and avoid.
Ambessa
Cancer champ, but has 0 mobility and terrible clear.
Darius
Another frankenstein monster, avoid early on and kite him. He is 0 threat later in the game.
Zed
His clear is faster but he has no map presence until lvl6 and by then your close to getting your form anyway. Terrible ganks and objective control.
Nidalee
Dead champ in SoloQ, she poses no threat at all pretty much always UNLESS she manages to cheese a lvl3 invade.
Hecarim
A skill matchup, good Hecarim will try to snowball the game, his mobility is crazy and ganks are divine while his R poses huge threat in teamfights. Do not let him get a huge lead on you and he will never be able to face you 1v1.
Lee Sin
Skill matchup, good Lee will try to get his lead as soon as he gets LVL6, post form he can't do **** so abuse him when u can.
Viego
Good Viego is ALWAYS a threat, there is no situation where he is completely out of the game due to his passive. Respect him and do NOT let him get a streak of resets. He can't teamfight well and he is squishy when caught out, he will look for a pick with his E into WQR combo after which he becomes incredible difficult to stop so you gotta know your limits. He can't burst you as Rhaast and Shadow Assassin one shots him.
Zac
Perma ganking champ that turns into teamfight beast. His clear and objective control is trash so punish him for that by perma invading. He poses no threat to you 1v1 but he will attempt to get his lanes ahead by abusing his unique E pathing.
Briar
She falls of HARD and Antiheal ruins her, post form she poses 0 threat.
Warwick
As long as your team doesn't feed his *** (which they probably will 🙃) he gets one shotted by Shadow Assassin and demolished by Rhaast with antiheal. He also scales like **** and is extremely kitable.
Yorick
A newest addition to Jungle rooster, learn his unique clear so you can abuse it and ruin his day. He can't 1v1 you post form pretty much, but his objective clearing speed is huge so try to get vision control when you can.
Rammus
An OK champ that poses 0 threat, he is mostly used as counterpick but Rhaast counters tanks himself. Abuse your Shadow Assassin passive magic damage if you have to face him as it.
Shyvana
Do NOT let her scale, she is a teamfight beast once she gets her 3 item core and has access to her R. Perma invade her *** and abuse her relatively slow clear.
Karthus
He can't 1v1 at all, but he is a late game god with access to teamwide delete button. Abuse his trash early and invade him.
Poppy
A niche counter pick, she can handle your Q well but other than that she has 0 mobility.
Wukong
Skill matchup, extremely painful in full AD comps. He can't 1v1 you in his current state and Rhaast can bully him even when behind, be careful of his flash R engage in teamfights tho.
Volibear
Don't engage him in prolonged fights EVER, his whole kit relies on you making that mistake. He has slower clear, lower mobility BUT his ganks are better. You outscale so play it safe and track him.
Rek'Sai
Who even plays this champ?
Taliyah
Skill matchup, if you let her scale in peace she will be a huge pain in the ***. She is incredibly disruptive in teamfights and her damage is HUGE. Abuse her terrible early game and go Shadow Assassin to one shot her before she can nuke your team.
Dr. Mundo
Low mobility, terrible ganks, HUGE annoyance. Always go Rhaast into him as he can 1v9 the game if left unchecked.
Yuumi
Fed Kayn + Yuumi = Unstoppable killing machine.
Lulu
Kayn and Lulu R wombo combo.
Diana
Diana pulls enemies in with her R and you QW their *** into oblivion.
Shen
Engage, shield and peel what else do you need as an Assasin?
Caitlyn
Basically any Collector user is quite problematic in teamfights when u plan to use ur R to escape as them killing your target will just knock you out of your ult.
Galio

Swain
Good gank setup and solid peel.
Ashe
Additional vision on the map is always good and her R makes for great engage.
Morgana
Solid gank setup if she can land her Q.
Malphite
Rock Solid, amazing gank setup with R into Q. Great peel later on as well unless he decides to troll and go AP.
Malzahar

Sion
Great gank setup.
Jarvan IV
Great gank setup.

+ Relatively Low Skill Floor + High Skill Ceiling + Incredibly Versatile + Absurd Amount of Mobility + High Impact Carry + Cool AF Champ
Cons
+ Skill Shot Reliant + Difficult To Play From Behind + Struggles A Lot Before Transforming + Hard CC Can Shut You Down + Some Champs Outscale Him Heavily + You Run a Risk Of Becoming Edgelord
About Forms
Shadow Assassin
+ Best Mobility In The Game + Huge Outplay potential + Extremely Hard to Lockdown + 100-0 Squishies in One Combo + Can Live Where Others Would Die - Easy To Kill If Caught Out - Isn't The Best Scaler - Struggles Heavily Versus Tanks - Relies on Ult As Escape Mechanic - Zhonya's and GA Exist
The Shadow Assassin is a constant threat on the map to the enemy team, his high mobility and amazing burst are a major liability to lives of enemy ADC's, Mages and Enchanters. Through Shadow Step Kayn is always able to come through unexpected angles to one shot enemy carry and escape unscathed due to speed and slow resist ganed through it. His R Umbral Trespass is an excellent escape tool that allows him to reposition after succesful assassination of his target. The upgraded Blade's Reach is a major asset to make use of both when engaging AND disengaging.
Darkin Rhaast
+ Shreds Through Tanks + Incredibly Hard to Kill + Amazing Teamfighter + Useful CC In Form Of His W + Lategame Beast - Can Get Kited Heavily - Anti-Heal Is A Pain - Relies On Team For Engage - Not The Best Burst - Can Get Popped By Fed ADC's
Rhaast is nearly unstopable killing machine, once he achieves his core build. He is an absolute menace to face as immobile bruiser or a tank as his Reaping Slash max %HP DMG is absolutely incredible and it heals him based on the damage dealt thanks to his passive. His version of Blade's Reach provides him with a potent tool of disengaging from unwanted fights or dealing major blows to enemies who stick a bit too close to themselves. Through Umbral Trespass he has an effective 2nd health bar as he heals pretty much to full health once full build by using it.
Picking Your Form
While choosing form to lock into may seem complicated at first it's actually quite easy and it goes as follows, you take a good honest look at enemy team comp and ask yourself a question - can I reliably one shot >=3 enemy champs?
Of course there are some exceptions to the rule which you will learn along the way as some champs while squishy have some gimmicks which make Rhaast a better option (ex. Hecarim, Xin Zhao) , while some while being tankier arent'easy to 1v1 directly so it's better to kite them with extra speed of Shadow Assassin (ex. Sett, Trundle).
Early Game
As Kayn 8/10 times you want to commit to your full clear and contesting scuttle on spawn.
The other two scenarios are as follows:
1. After clearing one side of your jungle you notice enemy laner heavily overextended with no escape tools (ex. Viktor mid) and your laner has useful setup tools (ex. Galio mid) you can opt to forgo clearing your other side and lvl 3 gank. While doing this you have to take numerous things into account like: where can enemy jungler be? Can he be strong enough to countergank? Are u risking getting invaded by ganking? Is the kill certain?
2. The enemy jungler is champion even weaker than you (ex. Karthus, Zyra) so you plan a cheeky invade. What I like to do is cheese lvl 1 raptor invade by hiding in the bush nearby, optimally u get vision of enemy jungler before hand so u can reliably do 2 things:
A) Steal his whole red side go to your blue side and then contest/defend your blue side (requires help from your laners in form of vision so extremely risky)
B) Clear his raptors and then smite contest his red buff and try to kill him (high risk-high reward)
Once you get your clear out of the way you can transition into your regural jungle gameplay, as Kayn you have the most unique angles available to you like getting through dragon pit and ganking from behind so use it to your advantage.
Also I know we all love dying for form, but please for the love of god don't make dumb plays just to get your form, IT WILL bite you in the *** the further you climb in your steps.
Mid-Late Game
Once you get your form the mid game starts for you and at the same time the nuance ends, you are a real champion now and should do what a real champion does. Farm hard, focus on objectives and get those takedowns. Good luck champ!
