Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
She can bully you super hard before level 6. She can also kite well and invade. Your Hextech Rocketbelt is a good way to keep gaps open between you and her.
Rek'Sai
You're seen in camouflage when she is burrowed. She can also follow you with her ult after yours.
Rengar
He can counter all of your burst damage simply by healing, and you're substantially weaker than him in the early game. Regardless of whether you're invisible, his ult can find you, making you not as stealthy as you can/should be.
Warwick
He heals all of your burst damage and can sniff you out when you're in camouflage.
Xin Zhao
Xin Zhao, sometimes, doesn't even need a full camp clear to begin ganking— he can also invade you and put you behind. He can make your game really difficult if he bullies you, which he most likely will.
Kayn
You're both weak early game, but he is more dangerous in the later game.
Kha'Zix
He's prone to AFK invading you since his passive makes him deal extra damage against isolated enemies. Give up camps if you have to and don't try to solo him early.
Kindred
They'll most likely use their passive on you. Be cautious at all times. They can invade you at any time, so play safe and give up camps if needed.
Lee Sin
He can reveal you from your camouflage. You should aim not to engage with him before level 6. After that, you can pretty much solo him, with caution.
Nocturne
Nocturne has just received buffs, so be wary of him. Sometimes he will ban Evelynn since you can, essentially, one-shot him and dominate. Keep safe from his (predictable) ult.
Udyr
He's extremely fast and can bully you with this, along with his stun. There's no way you can solo him until the mid-to-late games.
Ekko
Don't get caught in his W. You both scale well. You can one-shot him if you are ahead, and him you.
Elise
You out-scale her, but keep away pre-6.
Fiddlesticks
Evelynn generally counters him, but he will have an early lead against you. He can be tanky too, but you should be fine as long as you stick to farming and ganking when you should. Otherwise, there is a skill matchup here.
Hecarim
You out-scale but he wins the early game. Don't die to him early and you can burst him hard with a W proc.
Master Yi
This could go both ways, either he dominates or you beat him. Usually, you counter him because you win in the early game. Scuttle fights with him aren't the hardest. He can get fed easily so play safe.
Shaco
If you Q or W before he ults, you can tell which is and isn't the clone. Don't chase him. He is quite threatening early.
Volibear
He tends to have a consistent lead. Don't let him win early game and avoid his ult.
Graves
With an early lead, you can bully him. He might invade, so give camps if needed, but he is otherwise weak.
Ivern
You out-scale him. Don't get thrown off by how early he might gank, just keep farming. Be aware that his kit includes support-like items.
Lillia
You out-scale her, but getting hit by her abilities likely means that she will ult you and make you fall asleep. Your ult, however, is a good way to escape.
Skarner
He's barely played, you'll do fine against him. You might want to buy a Quicksilver Sash to render him useless.
Rammus
He can't locate you when you're in camouflage. You can scare his Q off with a W, which will make him stop from committing.
Taliyah
You farm faster, kill faster, are invisible. You counter her hard. Taliyah has no shot.
Nautilus
His CC sets up great ganks for you.
Pyke
He's a Lethality-building Assassin with CC, which is perfect for W procs and ganking. He also has roaming potential.
Qiyana
She's a Lethality-building, roaming Assassin champion. You're a one-shotting, roaming, Mage-Assassin champion. She also has AoE CC for team fights and her CC helps you proc your W.
Yuumi
You're both invisible when she binds to you, hence easy one-shots whilst you roam.
Lux
Her CC sets up good ganks.
Malzahar
His ult suppresses the enemy, which helps you to proc your W and secure a kill.
Yone
He can all-in after a successful charm/W.
Seraphine
It is very easy to gank for her. Seraphine shines during team fights, like Eve, and when she is accompanied by allies, so together you guys can finish enemies.
Ahri
Her E's charm shortly helps you to proc W.
Thresh
You have a good gank setup, His lantern can bring you closer to the enemy or even away.

Hey! I go by the alias of auileta, and I can bet that you have never met anyone who is as much of an Evelynn fan as me! I've been playing since Season 10 and have fallen in love with her instantly. With over 200K points at Mastery 7, I am currently an Evelynn one-trick in the EUW server. In terms of my achievements with Evelynn, which I haven't already mentioned, I have a 54% win rate with her.
2. Why Play Evelynn
Evelynn is an exceptional champion, there is no other like her. She has been especially built for quick assassinations and escapes. Her passive, Demon Shade, gives her invisibility/stealth, which enables her to have great picks. Her ultimate, Last Caress, is perfect for tower-dives. Above all, Evelynn is one of the best scaling champions in the game.
3. Gameplay
Everything you need to know about playing Evelynn will be here.
Evelynn is an Assassin. This means her main objective is to quickly finish an opponent and escape. To do this, she makes use of her burst damage. So, overall, the only thing that Evelynn can be built for, which she excels at, is one-shotting!
Let's take a look at her abilities.
PASSIVE
ABILITY
DEMON SHADE(Passive): Evelynn, when out of combat, heals when she is low on health. After level 6, she becomes invisible. This is perfect for maintaining map control.
Q
HATE SPIKE(Q): At initial cast, Evelynn shoots out a dart with her lashers. Then, she can recast this ability up to 3 times, projecting a line of spikes that deal magic damage.
W
ALLURE(W): Evelynn curses a target for 5 seconds, which slows them. She can then expunge this and deal increased damage to the target, whilst also charming them. This is how you set up your ganks.
E
WHIPLASH(E): Evelynn whips the target with her lashers, gaining bonus movement speed. When empowered, she dashes to her target and the ability does more damage.
R
LAST CARESS(R): Evelynn reveals her true form and blinks back 400 units. You also receive a marker on every target you can kill with this ability. Plus, it is a good escape mechanism.
CHILLING SMITE
All Junglers need Smite. Evelynn, in particular, makes use of her burst damage to execute enemies. You do not need Challenging Smite because of this. Having Chilling Smite will be better to slow your enemies or disable any CC immunities.
FLASH
Basically every champion uses this and Evelynn is no exception. Flash can be utilised for many things, e.g. escaping. For Evelynn, you can also use it for tower-diving, something that she does very well in.
Let's take a look at the runes we want to be playing with her.
Electrocute primarily adds burst damage, which Evelynn makes use of a lot. You can easily proc it with her too, e.g. with only Q.
Sudden Impact was basically made for Evelynn! She's invisible due to her passive, and gains a big boost in Lethality and Magic Penetration just by exiting stealth.
Eyeball Collection is the best scaling rune that complements Evelynn. It's also easy to get stacks with since you'll be ganking. You can even focus on one enemy and still get stacks repeatedly.
Ultimate Hunter, personally, is what I go for. Evelynn is all about quick assassinations. You need your ultimate to completely ensure this. With the reduced cooldown, you'll have more space to get good picks and make safe escapes.
Absolute Focus is the first secondary rune you should use because it works really well with Evelynn's passive. Your health will almost always be full, so this is going to give you a big boost in AP.
Gathering Storm is the other secondary rune I strongly recommend using as it's great with Evelynn's scaling. It also makes your mid and late games somewhat easier.
Let's also take a look at the alternative secondary runes that are viable with her.
Magical Footwear is a rune that works well with Evelynn due to the added movement speed. With all upgrades, you still keep the extra movement speed.
Future's Market is also a very good rune that allows you to rush items, making your early game stronger.
