Renekton, Fury of War (AD/AS) Introduction

Oh Hai :3, my name is Louis (CmdrFail ingame) this is my first guide made for MobaFire.

After watching the upcoming champ Renekton i was hoping some berserk machine full of fury to unleash the damage on the enemies but after playing the first 3 games i was really wondering if the champ was an offtank/dps like Garen or i was doing something wrong. Wandering through the forums i noticed that people started to complain about the just afterpatch nerf they did on renek, lowering the gain of his fury and the damage of his skills, so i wanted to try something, to my surprise the gain of his fury was kinda good and the damage was good too.

I created this build for fun, it's capable of being played in 5v5 but be aware that you need to know very well the champ (what is capable of) because its kinda hard to earn gold early game and you can get killed very easily in team fights.

After playing him for 3 days, i felt that this build is suited for me or anyone who want to play Renekton using his skills with the bonus of fury as much as possible (Gaining Fury really fast).

Hope you help me improve my guide with any opinion you might have.

Runes

9 Greater Mark of Desolation: for armor penetration, more damage as all your attacks are physical.

9 Greater Seal of Armor: for more armor, you need all the armor you can get early game as you can get killed very easily taking into account that you get a lot of aggro by using Slice and Dice with Cull the Meek.

2 Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction: The Cooldown Reduction runes help complete de 40% of Max CDR.

7 Greater Glyph of Magic Resist or 7 Greater Glyph of Armor: You can swap the magic resist runes for the armor ones if you like.

Masteries

As you can see i rather use CDR masteries in order to prevent the need of a third CDR item and more CDR runes.
Because the damage from Renek early game comes from spaming skills you want to get to lv 18 asap (As soon as possible) so the Awareness mastery helps a lot.

On a side note you can use more CDR runes in order to change your masteries to Offense.

Items

Doran's Shield and Health Potion can help you survive early game as i mentioned above you can get easily killed.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity and Youmuu's Ghostblade are a must (30% CDR from those 2 items plus 9% from masteries early game is really nice). You can buy The Brutalizer first if you like but i rather have Avarice Blade first as i try to stay in the line getting gold from the minions as much as possible. Remember that you can use the active from Youmuu's Ghostblade to escape,to get a hold from a escaping champion or to attack a bit faster in order to bring down a Turret or a enemy champion.

The next 4 items is what makes the core build, kinda expensive but pushing lines with Cull the Meek helps rack up the gold (even jungling helps cause its not that hard for Renek after getting a few items).

Phage more hp, which is not bad cause you need all the hp you can get to survive early game after that buy a Frozen Mallet, a bit more damage, 475 more hp and slow effect of 40% movement speed for 2.5 sec on each hit is nice.

Black Cleaver in my opinion goes really well with Renek for the damage it gives and specially for the effect of the Cleaver that put stacks of armor reduction on the target on each hit (-15 armor per stack), if you use your (W) skill Ruthless Predator 2 stacks will be applied if used normally without the fury effect and the 3 (MAX) with the bonus of 50 fury.

With the items mentioned above you can do hard damage and help in team fights, at this point most games end in surrender for you or for them, if not then....

Phantom Dancer this item will boost your fury making by ten fold. Using it together with the Youmuu's Ghostblade active effect your attack speed and moving speed will be quite good.

After this you can sell your Doran's Shield in order to make room for the next item.

For me its no brainer you need an Infinity Edge (20% more crit rate and MOAR Damage). You will be raping faces with normal attacks and using your skills full of fury... quite the damage.
At this point if you prefer you can select Bloodthirster instead of the Infinity Edge, you will lose crit rate and a bit of damage but if you farm enough minions you will hit harder and have a good amount of lifesteal that goes really well with the damage and attack speed (Remember that if you die you will lose all the bonus you got on the BT).

After that you can buy Elixir of Fortitude and Elixir of Agility to boost your hp, damage, crit rate and attack speed for 4 minutes.

Remember if the enemy team have any invisible champion like Evelynn or Twitch (even Shaco or Akali) that is pissing you off or giving your team a hard time or Teemo spamming his ulti in the map like a mad man, then buy one Oracle's Elixir or a Ward to help out in the time of need. Remember that Wards can be used on key spots like Lizard, Golem, Dragon or even Baron.

Optional Items

Bloodthirster: You can change it for the Infinity Edge, you will have less crit chance and less crit damage but changing that to have more damage (if you farm a good number of minions) and life steal sounds good as an alternative item.

Last Whisper: You can change it for Black Cleaver, its cheaper and its a good alternative item or if you need more armor reduction for those pesky tanks stacking armor.

Madred's Bloodrazor: A few might want to get this item for the attack speed and the 4% magic damage it does on hit, this effect applies really good with the Ruthless Predator skill as it applies the effect 2 to 3 times depending if you have 50 fury or not , your choice.

A few may like using a Sunfire Aegis as it goes really well with your ulti Dominus plus more HP and armor can help you survive.

You can get Spirit Visage and Randuin's Omen for the CDR and Defensive attributes but in my opinion the build lose its purpose the more items you change, also take note that the max CDR you can have its 40% so you need to make a few changes in the masteries or runes if you plan on using any of those.

Skill Sequence

Cull the Meek early game helps harass and get gold from minions, this skill in my opinion hits like ****, only at lv 5 and with 50 fury its kinda good.

Ruthless Predator max'ed asap cause its damage is good and the stun helps, with the items above mentioned you can take away a chunk of health with the bonus effect of 50 fury. Squishies beware!

Slice and Dice helps for escaping and ganking, even for last hit on a low hp champion. For me 1 point in this skills is enough till late game.

Dominus this skill is ermmm kinda good (more hp and aoe damage around him by second) you can use it before ganking or if you need a quick boost to your hp to escape. You also generate fury but is kinda slow in my opinion.

Summoner Spells

Ghost and Exhaust: can help you in team fights, alone, escaping, catching up.

Flash can be good too but its a matter of preferences.

Summary

Well thats it! hope you like it, if you have anything to share please do.

This was my first guide so i hope you find it useful.

I'll try to update the guide as soon as i have more time and information available.

If you want to play ingame please add me :D

Side note: after reading the comments and experimenting a bit ingame i changed Trinity Force for Frozen Mallet, its overall a better item in terms of survability and really helps in team fights.
