Introduction
First, let me say that i'm not forcing you to do this exact build. It's just my preferred build, and if you would rather use it, then be my guest. I will list some alternate item choices to use if you would prefer a different route.
For Items, I prefer starting with a
Doran's Blade first. Although
Doran's Shield isn't a bad choice either. If you went with attack damage runes, then
Boots of Speed would be a better choice. After that, I either take
Ninja Tabi or
Mercury's Treads depending on the enemy team and who i'm facing top lane. After that I pick up Bonetooth Necklace, it's better to get it early on, and it's only 800 gold for such an AMAZING item. It really is amazing. After that, I rush
Trinity Force, starting with
Phage then
Sheen.
Trinity Force is an amazing item for Rengar, it gives everything he needs, plus movement speed. With this AND 6 stacks of your Bonetooth Necklace on, you'll be outrunning mostly everyone. This is where I start building tanky, you should have roughly around 160-180 attack damage by the time you get your Trinity Force. Grab a
Warmog's Armor, followed by
Atma's Impaler then
Guardian Angel. With this build, not only do you still put out immense damage, but you are going to be a HUGE pain in the arse to kill. If they manage to succeed the first time....well, you know what happens.
For Items, I prefer starting with a

If you need some magic resistance and also want to gain damage,
Maw of Malmortius is a good item to grab. If you're facing an Attack Damage champion, and you grab Ninja Tabi, a good item after that would be
Wriggle's Lantern. With those two, it will give you a nice chunk of armor, along with some Attack Damage, Lifesteal AND a ward! Here are some overall item choices, offensive and defensive.

One thing that I want to point out before I get into this, is that when Rengar has 5 Ferocity, he basically gets a new skill set. For example, if you were to get 5 Ferocity and use your
Savagery it would then switch back to the normal
Savagery due to them being different skills and having seperate cooldowns.
Now, back on topic. The reason I max out my Q first is because I prefer playing aggressive. A great combo for being an aggressive Rengar, is to get 5 Ferocity, hide in the bush closest to the enemy in your lane, ready your
Savagery, and when your enemy enters your
passive's range, activate your Q and pounce! Immediately after you land it, activate it again. I try to do this as early as possible, due to the MASSIVE damage it does. It will take about half of their health bar.
If you're playing more of a defensive end, then max your
Bola Strike first to harass. After I max
Savagery, I begin to max
Battle Roar. It helps you stay in lane longer. Also, if you're in a pinch, be quick to decide whether or not to use
Savagery, or
Battle Roar.
Max
Bola Stike or
Savagery depending on which one you maxed first. Grab your
Thrill of the Hunt whenever you can.

Ahhh, good old Team Work. I mean, it IS a 5v5. You ARE in a team, might as well check it out right?
When you're ganking another lane, make sure to decide beforehand, whether or not to use your
to sneak in, or to chase.
Team fights are another thing to decide when to use your ult, I can't stress enough how important it is. If the enemies focus you, tank them a bit until you know you're about to die, then if you didn't use your ult yet, use it now. This will help your team get some damage off before the enemy team switches to them. If you're low, when you enter your ult, it's usually best to go back in at some point. Your burst damage is great, so take advantage of the suprise attack. Otherwise, go straight for their damage source.
