One of the hardest matchups. You want to avoid 1v1ing her at all costs, usually play opposite side of her, respect her invades, only play to fight her with your team having prio and helping you, make sure you know if she used her E or not early, cause she can block all of your burst with it. After form you should be fine against her though, still very tricky matchup, she can dodge your combo with her dashes, she can eat all your burst with her E.
Lee Sin
One of the hardest matchups, super strong early, decent camp clear, insane gank potential, runs a tanky build mid game where you can't oneshot him even if ahead. Generally, dodge his Q's early and you should be fine, play around your team and their prio to help you, otherwise respect his 1v1 and invades, after form you should be fine, but he'll still be hard, can kick you away, tanky, and he can be annoying for your team.
Master Yi
Super hard matchup, Can dodge abilities with his Q, can eat your whole burst with his W, has a very good clear speed, strong early 1v1 even if ahead. Generally look to avoid 1v1ing him, either counter gank him, or play opposite side of map from him. You will still struggle with him mid game cause of his w and q, being able to dodge your whole combo, so play around your team stunning him, and then use your abilities.
Rengar
Rengar is my permanent ban, this matchup is very annoying, he can heal your whole burst throughout the whole game with his W. He can invade you whenever he wants, and your mobility is nothing against his due to his bush jump passive. he can just stun you and your e is useless, he can jump around with your q's, has insane burst and early dps. has insane counter gank potential to you, cause he can camp bushes and just lock you down with his team if you want to gank. Generally I'd ban him, but if you want to deal with him, just don't face check bushes unless with your e, so you can have the Dot indicator that he's there, avoid him early, never look to fighting him unless you have form.
Rek'Sai
Not the hardest, but defenitely a hard matchup. Look for power ganking opposite side of her, or counter ganking her, she will always look for level 3 ganks, ward for your team, and ping them, or just go there to counter gank if possible. Avoid 1v1ing her, she's 10x stronger than you early, you will need edge of night in this matchup for sure. After form you should be fine though.
Udyr
Super hard matchup, he's super tanky throughout the whole game, even with form you will barely touch him. Has insane mobility, gank potential, fast clear, good objective control. overall, I just avoid Udyr throughout the whole game, and play oppositely, get form, and keep forcing on backline, play for your botlane, cause usually your adc is the only one that will be able to deal with him.
Xin Zhao
Annoying matchup but you outscale, you have faster clear, he has good gank potential and decent early/mid game, just respect his early, and his Q knockup locking you down with his team, and you should be fine.
Wukong
Annoying matchup, but you outscale. He has decent clear, his jump and W can be annoying for you to land your abilities, his passive gives him a lot of arrmor which can make you not able to one shot him. His knockup can be very annoying aswell. But generally after form, you should be fine.
Amumu
Ekko
Diana
Evelynn
Whoever gets fed in this matchup, ends up stomping, but, you can play it properly and kill her, using your e to give vision on her, and fast combo to one shot her and get the shutdown.
Fiddlesticks
I would say fiddle is a matchup I win most of the time, but he's annoying nonetheless. I would say you can easily predict his next moves, since he follows a full clear almost every game, and camps for ults, so with good vision, avoiding dumb fights where you will get 5 man ulted, you should be fine, also buying edge of night helps, and avoiding him and going for other squishy teammates.
Gragas
Graves
50/50 matchup, he gives you blue orbs, but punishes you early with invades, just be smart and avoid his invades if your team can't help, and invade opposite side, I usually split map against graves players till I get form, then it's easy from there.
Hecarim
Generally easy.
Ivern
This one is a tricky matchup, you need to learn how iverns path, they usually put their passive on wolves, blue, gromp and go to their botside then go back to their topside and look for a level 3 gank. You can even spectate them to get a better idea, Just make sure they don't invade your camps, and if they do punish them back, and look for either playing opposite side of them, or counter ganking them, ivern gives blue orbs aswell, so its a 50/50 matchup I'd say. Very laners reliant.
Jarvan IV
Jarvan has the upper hand in this matchup, his clear is very good, his mobility is really high, his early ganks are insane, and his midgame burst and tankiness is just unmatched. Generally he's like a tank you can't match throughout the whole game, so I'd just play opposite, get form, ignore him and play for backline flanks, unless he's too behind and I have cc on my team, where we can lock him down.
Karthus
His clear is just insane, he'll never be useless, but it's 50/50 cause he will give you alot of orbs, you can punish him in correct situations and he can't kill you back, and even if you fall behind, most of the time you'll still be able to one shot him and his team.
Kha'Zix
I'd say you have the upper hand in this matchup if you're a good Kayn, just avoid facechecking him early, track his pathing, respect isolation, play for form, once you get form, even if he's 5 kills ahead, you can oneshot him before he oneshots you.
Kindred
50/50 matchup, she invades a lot, very good early, can punish you, still gives you blue orbs, if you counter gank her, or make her face check you, you can play around that, basically respect till form
Lillia
Gives blue orbs, but very annoying and fast, builds zhonyas, tanky builds with a lot of HP aswell. I would generally say a good Kayn wins her, but it's a skill matchup
Maokai
Can be annoying with his sapplings delaying your E, he's tanky, pushes you away from your Q animation, but still, can easily out farm him, out gank him, and out impact him after form by killing his team, he can't stop you.
Nidalee
Some people find this matchup hard, I would say it's annoying, but if you're a good Kayn, you'd outscale and win a Nidalee 9/10 times. Respect her early, play really aggressively oppositely to get form asap, after form, you should run her over.
Nocturne
Annoying matchup, but you out farm him, out gank him early, have generally more impact, just in long 1v1's he's better, you can still oneshot him once you get form, only thing that's annoying is his ult blindness, you can buy edge of night for that though.
Nunu & Willump
easy
Poppy
Ugh, that word simply describes this matchup, very annoying, positive side though, you will outfarm her, generally I'd ward for my team against her, avoid her cause her whole kit counters me, invade her and power farm, and play for opposite side, then once I get form, I'd be like 2 lvls ahead, and stomp her team. Generally never all in on her, or even near her, play around walls and flanks to the backline.
Rammus
Generally easy, he's a tank, you win him early in every aspect, then if you get a lead, kill his whole team, you should be fine
Rumble
He has decent clear, annoyingly strong early, but you generally can get away with it early, and once you get form you're fine.
Sejuani
it's a 50/50 matchup, generally you'd be stronger, but she's really annoying, with alot of cc, and if she has winning lanes, you can't play much around her, I'd only take secured fights against her, get a lead, avoid her cause she's still a tank, and just look for destroying her backline.
Shaco
Shaco's are generally easy, just respect ad shaco's burst with ignite, and sweep against ap shaco's boxes, and you should be fine throughout all the game.
Shyvana
easy
Skarner
Thank god this pick is not meta, this champion is insanely strong against you, has insane clear, insane objective control, annoying amount of cc, and he's super tanky, with alot of damage, godbless hes not picked alot xD
Sylas
Zed
Zac
You can control the game by power ganking before he scales, but becareful of getting baited by his aggressiveness when he has his passive up, generally you play it like any other tank you play against, you out impact them early, out farm them, then get form and ignore them all game
Warwick
Volibear
Viego
Easy matchup in my opinion, this guy doesn't have anything better in his kit, and even if he's 5-0 early, once you get form, your team can easily cc him down, and you can burst one shot him and get shutdown. You might struggle if he buys deathdance 3rd or something, but then you simly avoid him.
Vi
Talon
Better assassin wins. Gl
Taliyah
Easy, she gives you free form, easy to abuse, easy to counter gank
Shen
The only synergy that's nice with Kayn, you can just all in, he ults you 1 second before, you get inside enemy adc, you both spawn on top of the adc.

Welcome! I am Dark Aura, the best Blue Kayn world. Reached Challenger 1223 LP season 13 (split 1) with only Blue Kayn. Also know as DarkAuraLOL from my Tiwtch stream. Make sure to check it out to get the most on how to play Blue Kayn. I am doing this guide to prove to people you can easily play and climb with only Blue Kayn, and that you don't need to be playing against ranged champions to play it, you can even play it against 4 tanks and carry. Hope my guide helps with everything you need to know about blue kayn :D Enjoy!
Abilities
The darkin scythe (Passive)
Kayn wields an ancient, sentient weapon that battles with him for control. Dealing damage against champions causes them to drops orbs that are automatically collected upon leaving combat, filling a bar above Kayn's portrait.
Once the bar is full, he can choose to either be overwhelmed by Rhaast or expel him to become the Shadow Assassin, based on whether he has damaged more melee or ranged champions, respectively. Once primed, the other option becomes available after 4 minutes. Kayn can continue collecting orbs for his other form to reduce the wait time.
The transformation can only be performed by interacting with Kayn's portrait while on the summoning platform, permanently changing his abilities.
Kayn dashes forward, dealing 75 / 95 / 115 / 135 / 155 (+0.65 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to all enemies he passes through before flourishing his scythe, dealing the same damage again to surrounding enemies.
Both instances of Reaping Slash deal 40 bonus damage against minions and monsters.
After a short delay in which he can't perform any other actions, Kayn performs an upwards sweep with his scythe, dealing 90 / 135 / 180 / 225 / 270 (+ 1.3 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to all enemies in a line and slowing them by 90%, decaying over 1.5 seconds.
Kayn gains 40% bonus movement speed, is ghosted and can ignore terrain collision for 1.5 seconds. Immobilizing effects will interrupt Shadow Step.
Kayn heals himself by 100 / 115 / 130 / 145 / 160 (+ 0.4 per bonus attack damage) upon moving through terrain for the first time and, if he's not in combat with enemy champions, Shadow Step's duration is increased to 7 / 7.5 / 8 / 8.5 / 9 seconds.
Entering combat with a champion after the effect is enhanced reduces the remaining duration to 1.5 seconds.
Passive: Kayn's basic attacks and abilities mark enemy champions for a few seconds.
Active: Kayn can activate Umbral Trespass to infest a marked enemy champion for up to 2.5 seconds, revealing them and becoming untargetable for the duration. Reactivating Umbral Trespass ends the effect early.
Upon reactivation or at the end of the duration, Kayn wrenches free from their body in the cursor's direction, dealing 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 1.75 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to the target.
The Darkin Scythe is the (passive), that gives you Blue orbs upon hitting ranged enemy champions till you fill the bar, then you get your Blue form, or you just get it 4 minutes after getting Red form if you couldn't get Blue at first.
Try using an auto attack before using your Reaping Slash (Q) to cancel next auto attack time.
Always keep your Blade's Reach (W) until you can read enemy's movements, never use it at the beginning of a gank, they might be a free kill that you might miss, so just walk up to them, if they Flash, then you can react with Reaping Slash (Q), or just Flash to them, or even use Blade's Reach (W) to them on full range after they Flash, but if you instantly use Blade's Reach(W) they might Flash it and the delay on Blade's Reach (W)'s activation will make them escape you easily. Additionally, you can always use an auto attack before Blade's Reach (W) to make you cancel the next auto attack time.
Always use your Shadow Step (E) while farming jungle to heal up, also make sure you use it to reach camps faster, for faster clear. Another way of using Shadow Step (E) is by keep it up when invading enemy's camps or even fighting in the jungle to escape. Your Shadow Step (E) gets cut off if you get hit by an enemy champion auto attacks or spells, it gives you 1.5 seconds to force you out of the nearest position in the wall you are in, make sure you dodge enemy stuff and avoid it while inside a wall. Another thing, you can use your abilities in walls, and use Reaping Slash (Q) from wall to wall to make your mobility even longer. You can even hit camps with Reaping Slash (Q) and Blade's Reach (W) while in wall without getting your Shadow Step (E) stopped. Lastly, if you get hit in combat before using Shadow Step (E), you will need to wait 3 seconds before you can use it fully, else if you use it, it will only last 1.5 seconds.
Finally, your ultimate Umbral Trespass (R) is used in many ways, you can use it to deal more damage at any phase of the game, you can also use it to chase someone after a flash you predicted from him. Another usage for Umbral Trespass (R) is escaping, you can always use it to stay 3 seconds untargettable till your team reaches, or by waiting 3 seconds for your cooldown on Reaping Slash (Q) and Shadow Step (E) so you can escape to the nearest terrain or (Q) Reaping Slash to the other wall.
Summoner spells
SUMMONER SPELLS -
FLASH: Flash is essential, and irreplaceable, for that whenever you have Flash up as Blue Kayn, you can permanently force team fight engages and Flash into 5 man with a fast AOE damage combo, which will legit solo win you the game. Also, it helps you at all points in the game more than any other summoner.
SMITE: As any other jungler would run, Smite is the choice, you want to make sure you run Gustwalker Hatchling which is the Blue Smite though, for that it's the best on Blue Kayn, for the mobility it gives you throuh bushes, helps assassinate, it is practical, where you can use it as a last resort to ult with Umbral Trespass (R), and you can use it to activate runes like, Dark Harvest.
Early game
Early game, your plan is, to go ward enemy raptors preferably, on the entrance around second 50 into the game, so you can know where enemy jungler is pathing. You always want to start your raptors, no matter which side, let's say you are topside raptors, you want to do raptors, into krugs, into red in that case, then look for a top gank "ONLY IF FREE GANK", otherwise path to bot/mid, if it's gankable go for it, then keep clearing botside, if not gankable, do blue buff and keep hovering laners, whenever you see an opportunity, go for it, if not just do a full clear from there. If you are botside raptors, you do raptors/red/krugs, into bot or mid gank, generally if you go for a gank, and die, you can always have a longsword or two advantage, which then if you go to your opposite side, even if you're getting invaded, you are stronger than them, and your early ward helps you to know if you got invaded or not, if you know that you did, just go to their blue afterwards, instead of wasting time going to your camps.
Mid game
Mid game you should have form and your one shot power spikes, you want to play for objectives, play for helping your team getting turrets by hovering them in the sidelanes, or invade if not risky, and if ahead. I would usually look for dives around my mid and toplaners while they're playing side, and get free turrets, then invade enemy jungle camps. You want to also keep your flash for important fights or shutdowns, play for AOE combos aswell.
Late game
Late game, simply wait for the right opportunities, do not just all in randomly, play around your team stuns, then use your combos, or wait for enemy to overstep, or stack, for a flash W Q combo. Prioritize the carries, ignore the tanks, play for closing up the game, not just for kills, play for baron, turrets etc.
