I recently hit challenger and when I get top lane I often pick Riven since she is so broken

Pros

Strong soloQ pick
1v9 potential when mastered
Low pick rate
Low ban rate
High damage dealer
Flexible can both go ad bruiser and even tank if needed
Has good cc
Good at split pushing
1v2 potential if ahead
Strong through out the entire game

Cons

High skill cap
Weak when behind
easily counter picked

Riven has a lot of strengths

Riven is really strong at 1v1 on top lane as long as you can master auto attack cancelling with your q´s in between auto attacks

Riven can snowball insanely easy when she is a head, she can 100-0 tower dive people in one combo and she can even 1v2 if she is ahead enough and snowball even heavier from that.

Riven has a lot of cc from her 3rd q and w which makes her fairly easy to gank while on the other hand riven is really difficult for the enemy to gank since riven has her 3 q´s which gives her mobility and not only that she also has her E which gives her mobility and a shield on top of that.

Riven´s kit makes it really easy for her own jungler to gank while on the hand the enemy team is gonna have a really rough time trying to gank riven unless she is overextended or they have a lot of cc to lock her down

Another strength for Riven is that her kit is very flexible

you can go full ad as riven if you are snowballing and the enemy team consists of multiple squishy members

You can go bruiser build on riven if you have a small lead but the enemy team has tanks or you have enough damage in your own team comp already

and last but not least you can go full tank with riven by only builing 1-2 damage items while the rest of your items will be tanky and you can even add a defensive keystone/rune page on top of that if needed.

Another strength riven has is that her kit is mechanical relient which means she is difficult to play but if you master her you can 1v9 almost every game no matter what elo you are

There are challenger riven mains for a reason and you can become one too if you master her kit and understand how to play the matchups and how to play top

Riven being a mechanical champion can also be a weakness since very few people knows how to play her to a good enough level

Riven is also really weak and almost useless when behind

Riven is also fairly easily countered by a lot of champions

There are a huge amount of combos you can pull of on Riven and each combo are better than the other for that specific situation

But some of the basic combos are as follows:
Trading in lane (can be done even at level 1)
Start of the combo by walking up to the enemy and use and auto attack
Then follow it up with a Q
Then go for another auto attack with a passive stack from the first Q you used
Then use another Q
Then follow up with another auto attack with passive from second q
then use your third and last q
and end off the combo with an auto attack and then back off

The faster you can do this combo the better

Once you have more abilites you can use
the same excact combo as before:
Start of the combo by walking up to the enemy and use and auto attack
Then follow it up with a Q
Then go for another auto attack with a passive stack from the first Q you used
Then use another Q
Then follow up with another auto attack with passive from second q
then use your third and last q
and end off the combo with an auto attack
But add W + auto attack and E + auto attack any time in the combo to get the maximum damage output off in the least amount of time

Riven shield scales of her bonus AD which means the more ad items you buy the bigger the shield

Rivens ulti is usually used as an execution ulti

Riven gets a passive stack which increases the amount of her next auto attack for each ability she uses but she can only proc one stack at the time so try to use an ability followed up by an auto attack immediately
