Season 10 Morgana Jungle Guide

By lheisse
Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my guide! This will be about the emerging meta of mage junglers. Of all the mage junglers, Morgana is likely the best choice. "Morgana jungle?" You may be asking. I thought the same thing. But after playing some games and trying her out, I realized she was not only viable, but good! due to her recent buffs to her [tormented soil], her clears are good, so not only has she become A jungle pick, but a good one. I will go over the basics: Pathing, playstyle, and a rundown of her kit and how that works into her favor in the jungle. Lets get into it
Preview
What makes morgana a good jungler? Well, first her passive provides her good sustain in jungle, keeping you healthy throughout your clears. Her W is constantly up due to its cooldown lowering upon a tick damaging a large monster, Providing for quick clears as well. Finally her q and r provide alot of utility to lockdown the enemy laner for an easy kill. What are her weaknesses? To start with, she is very mana heavy. As you are constantly using w and q, your mana drains very quick. To compensate for this, you should be getting blue buff as much as possible. Also she is very heavy on hitting her q. One miss could mean the end for you. To get good with morgana, you have to practice hitting q's as its your main ability. I recommend going w max which sounds outrageous because like I said q is her main ability, but remember, your aiming for the mid game. Maxing w first gives you better clear time as well as more damage in fights. The utility you give during ganks will suffer but it will be better in the long run. As morgana, contesting scuttle early and objectives early is a death wish in most matchups. Try not to get into any 1v1 fights early as your early game is rather poor.
Jungle path
The path I go is Blue - Gromp - wolves - raptor - red - scuttle. As previously mentioned clear blue as much as you can to make up for your mana consumption. You can clear red first if you feel like you can make do with the little mana. Also, krugs provides a bit of trouble as her w decreased cooldown does not proc and the medium krugs. To clear camps, use q and w, stay out of range from its attacks and auto it till it breaks out, keep on using w every time its up. Gromp does magic damage so using your sheild will shave off a bit of damage. For Camps like raptors, wolves, and krugs. use q on the large monster, then focus on the smaller ones.
Ganking
Early in the game you should focus on farm. Your ganks dont really shine until 6. Ganking should only be done early if the enemy laner is noticeably far in the lane. There are 2 ways you can go about ganking. Try to land a q from bush, or walk into lane and try and bait flash. You will typiclly do the latter, however, if they lack vision in the bush and you can easily reach them, then hitting them from bush is preferred. R can be used to make up for missing a q or to use in combination with q if the target will not die quickly. Once you hit the mid game, Engage a lane gank with an ult if they aren't close to their tower and you can reach them. Wait for them to be stunned then hit the with your q. Since your q is the biggest cc you want them to be stunned so there is NO way you can miss it. Remember, the more you level up and get items, the stronger your ganks become. Dont get too caught up in trying to gank that you lose farm. Your team may flame you for not ganking but you have to remember you are a scaling champ.
Items
Your items are not that diverse, however some scenarios may arise where your item build may differ. Your core is always Runic echos, sorcerers, and liandry's. Zhonyas is a great item for morgana, but there are some cases, such as the enemy comp being all magic, that it would be a detriment for you. For these circumstances, take banshee's and periodically buy a stopwatch as needed. Rabadons should almost always be the last item. If you are doing very good mid game, consider taking spellbinders rather than zhonyas. You can stack it easily with your w and the speed and damage it provides allows you to nuke enemies with r. If you lack burst damage on a squishy team, then take lichbane into consideration. Replace Dark seal with morellos if healing is an issue.
Mid to late game
Mid game is where you will start to really become powerful. Around 15 minutes, you should be watching for possible ganks. With runic echos and sorcs, your damage will be substantial. You have 2 major powerspikes, the first is liandry's. It gives you a good chunk of damage and will allow you to start engaging in 1v1 fights. Next is lvl 11 when you put 2 points into ult. This is because the bonus move speed you get when moving towards enemies with chains on them during our ult goes up from 5% to 30%, giving crucial mobility during ganks and allowing you to keep up with most mobility abilities people have like an ezreal e or teemo e. Remember to try to lend as much help to people who scale like kayle, nasus, and chogath. During the late game, your q can make or break a fight. If you land a q your team can engage for a easy kill. Also, you play as an engage with your r. Getting zhonyas or stopwatch makes this engage much safer for you. You will have pretty good damage if you are consistently hitting your q and will usually take out squishies with one combo. Remember to play safe with your e and try to time it to enemy cc.
Conclusion
Thank you all for viewing my guide. I know its a bit plain as this is my first guide. But if i see its getting traction, i will add more and polish it out. Thank you all so much for reading, and have fun out there on summoners rift!
