For early-lane phasing, this is a little annoying with Kat throwing out her Q every time. She's very squishy and her skills are on a long CD. Once she uses a combo on a minion, engage on her with you W + Q combo. You can easily kill her once you reach 6. Throw out your ult if she ults and E towards her. You will out-damage her and win the trade.
Vel'Koz
Literally the easiest champion Fizz can counter (well, he counters a lot of champions). Vel has very low mobility, while Fizz does. Just make sure to dodge his Q and E.
Ahri
If you play smart and avoid her charms, this will be an easy match-up. Avoid being predictable so that she won't hit her charms, and move to dodge her Qs. Do not go too ham on her because she has her ult to dash away from you, making it hard to land your ult. Engage before she reaches 6 or when she misses her charm, and kill her. You can also use Play/Trickster (E) to dodge her charms if necessary.
Karthus
Karthus is a very slow champ, and you can easily dodge his Qs. Once you reach six, you can start feeding from him. His ult is not hurtful, since you can just E it if you time it right (which isn't hard to do). As always, don't stay in his passive range, because he can kill you.
Cassiopeia
This is a breeze laning match-up. Her abilities are pretty slow, and you can E her ult. Laning phase is when you basically just dodge her abilities, and then combo her once she gets too close or out of position, since Cass is a really squishy champ early-mid game.
Anivia
Anivia's passive is pretty annoying, however she's very squishy and her abilities come out pretty slow for you to just E. Once she misses her stun (Q), dash in and combo her.
Annie
Fun lane. You must avoid her stuns and her ult, since she is a very strong champion and can instantly eat your health away. If you lose to her in lane, the whole game is lost. Her poke is ridiculous, however if you play well and avoid as much poke as you can to stay alive, you can easily kill her once you reach 6. I recommend you max your E first. E her Tibbers in order to dodge her stun and it's easy.
Azir
Azir's poke is very strong and is super annoying and hard to get away from because even if you E, he can still hit you after you land. Let him push and farm under tower until you reach 6. Once you do, you can kill him when you get the perfect chance. I recommend you max your E first. Ask your jungler to gank your lane. Just be careful with his ult that can deny you. Though apparently Fizz's Playful/Trickster (E) can go over the wall. How OP. Rito pls. Haha.
Diana
Better lane swap with someone or don't pick Fizz. With her QWRE combo, or basically her whole kit, you're screwed. You can't fight her because not only she out-damages you, but also she can get away from you instantly.
Ekko
This match-up isn't that hard, to be completely honest. Just dodge his Q, and if he engages on you with his E, just use your combo and you should be able to out-trade him in lane. Make sure he doesn't get his stacks and autos on you, so E often. I recommend maxing E first. His ult is fairly annoying because if he plays correctly, he can get out of your ult. Just play calm and wait for the perfect opportunity.
Fizz
We will find out who's the better Fizz. Just kidding... Make sure you wait for the other Fizz to use his Playful/Trickster (E) before you, then he has no escape. Immediately use your combo, therefore out-trading him. Play safe and patient.
Heimerdinger
Seriously, this guy is annoying, however not impossible to kill. Poke him down by dashing in with your W+Q combo and quickly E out. Once he gets low enough, R and kill him.
Kassadin
His shield is a bit tough, and this is an even match-up, however if you use your E, you should be able to win your lane.
Twisted Fate
Super easy match-up. You can E his cards (especially his gold stun card). TF runs out of mana very fast, so if he uses his blue/red card, go in on him. He's very squishy, so you can easily fight him and win the trade. Dodge his three cards (Q) and you'll win easy. Early game he pokes you, but you're fine after you reach 6.
LeBlanc
People say this match-up is hard, however in reality, it's really not that bad. True, it's hard to land your abilities on her since she's very mobile and she a lot of damage (out-trades you), but just time your ult right and combo her. You will out-trade her in the late game. I recommend maxing E first. When she puts a chain on you, E and immediately engage her or walk away. She's a really squishy champ, and squishy champs don't really fair well with Fizz. Ask for ganks from your jungler if you are getting stomped by her. Play safe and smart. You might not win lane early game, but you will carry hard late.
Zed
Another skill-based match-up, but not as hard as going against Yasuo in my opinion. Make sure to not shoot out your ult immediately, since his ult goes faster. Let him engage you first. Right after his ult, E so you avoid his damage after his ult, and then if he W's away, use your ult appropriately since he doesn't have any escape abilities left except Flash. His poke early game is quite annoying, so watch out for his Qs.
Nidalee
Very easy to beat her. Keep your movements unpredictable, since her spears move very slow. Nid doesn't have a lot of abilities that does damage except her cat form (R), and her heals and traps aren't really going to do anything, so you should just engage on her early game once you reach 3 (if you don't feel confident in your Fizz skills, just wait until 6).
Yasuo
This match-up is indeed difficult, but mostly based on your skill. Remember to pop his passive whenever you can with your W+auto. Yasuo is very mobile, strong late-game, and can WW your ult, so make sure you wait until he does use it. If he is aggressive and pushes your wave to your tower, just farm under tower until your jungler can gank. Watch out for his tornadoes and move unpredictably so that you can avoid his Q.
Lux
Not a hard match-up. Dodge her snares and move out of her E before she explodes it. She's very squishy and you can dodge her ult with your E. Engage on her, since she has no abilities that can dodge your ult.
Xerath
Not too bad of a lane. Watch out for his stuns. I recommend maxing E first. You can easily move out of his Qs since they take a long time to generate and use. His ult is easy to dodge with your E.
Viktor
This match-up isn't too hard or easy. Pretty much fair. Victor has a lot of early poke with his Q and E, so don't push the wave, instead farm under tower until you reach 6. You can easily dodge his snare (E) with your E. When he uses his whole combo on you, imminently engage with your own combo. You will win the trade and lane if you play safe.
Veigar
Veigar is so squishy. You can E out of his cage, so it's not a big problem. I recommend maxing E first. Dodge his abilities and make sure to play carefully once he reaches 6 (his ult is quite scary and effective on AP champs, a one-shot). You should win lane against him and get fed off of him if you play correctly.
Talon
Talon is a very strong champion late, however you should be able to fight him once you reach 6. Do not use your ult until he does, or you are bound to miss when he becomes invisible. Always stay out of his Q range, and if he E to you after he ults, do not fight him. He out-damages you when he does. Play safe and you will win lane if you're patient.
Taliyah
New champ, though judging with her abilities, you should have no problem. Just watch out for her Qs that does a fair amount of damage. Also, her E does counter your dash (Q), so make sure you don't dash through her rockfield. Other than that, her ult doesn't do anything except the wall, and I'm pretty sure you can't E over it. Her W is hard to hit, so it's not a problem avoiding it.
Ziggs
His bombs are pretty slow, but long-ranged. Make sure you dodge them, and avoid stepping on his bombs. If you do, you will be able to win lane. He's pretty squishy, so use your combo well. When he ults on you, you can easily E away.
Lissandra
Haha. Same deal with Diana. Her whole kit stops you from your dash, and her poke is ridiculous. Her ult either heals her or stops you, which is not good for you. Better not fight her.
Malzahar
Orianna
Her pokes are pretty annoying, so make sure to avoid her balls. I recommend maxing E. You should be able to win trades and the lane once you reach 6.
Kayle
Swain
Brand
If you avoid his stun, this is a really easy lane. You should be able to win it easily even without much skill with Fizz.
Akali
Aurelion Sol
This match-up is not too difficult to win. It is easy for Fizz to stay in his circle, so when he uses W and expands, just stay close and do your combo. His stun (Q) can be avoided with your E. His auto-range is long, so avoid his pokes and do not stay far away from him.
Hey everyone, this is my first guide ever on my favorite champion, Fizz (unless someone plays him and he's an enemy Fizz). I'm just a wood-division level 30 player, however my main is Fizz. I have champion mastery 5 on him with 35k (that's not a lot since I play other champions, but I'm still pretty good at him... I think.) I love playing Fizz because he's super annoying and fun to play! Some might say: "Oh, this guy has no idea what the hell he's talking about because he's ranked so low and isn't worth it." True, I'm not this Diamond player or anything, since I hate playing Ranked Games right now (so many salty and toxic players), but I am better than you if you're looking at this guide right now... kappa.
For the match-ups, the ones that don't have any information on how to counter them is because I haven't played against them yet. The difficulty level I chose is just based on how hard I think it would be to go against them.
Well, I will be updating this guide once in a while if major changes happen in the patches, but this is it. I hope this guide helped your Fizz skills better! Have fun playing this broken champ that is not only very mobile, but very strong, enough to one-shot others when fed and played well.
