It's a big no-no for every tank champion to face against a Vayne top, so if you have to lane against a Vayne, or even ANY long ranged champions, try to avoid going for the tank build, it's still possible to get it to work, but it will be a lot harder since you won't have as much movement as you'd have with a regular Sett build with Stridebreaker
Malzahar
Malzahar can easily cancel everything you do with his spellshield that blocks your E, beware of his silence and his ulti whenever you go in in a teamfight. as soon as possible get a Quicksilver slash, it's highly necessary for laning after 6. IF YOU ARE GOING LETHALITY MID, MAKE SURE TO BAN EITHER MALZAHAR, VEL'KOZ OR XERATH
Xerath
As any melee against Xerath, he has great poke range and stun speed, so be careful and try to harass him as much as possible before he can get ahead, since it can mean him snowballing the game over you with even just a cs lead, try to get the jungler to camp your lane AND go with cleanse instead of ignite, or you can also rush Edge of Night after your Prawler's to avoid getting cc'd and burst, but you will need to dodge like a god since one bit of damage and your spellshield is off. IF YOU ARE GOING LETHALITY MID, MAKE SURE TO BAN EITHER XERATH, VEL'KOZ OR MALZAHAR - This is usually my ban whenever i go mid with this build.
Vel'Koz
almost the same as Xerath, but since Vel'Koz' abilites don't have a ton of speed and range he is a bit easier to dodge and get close to. IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO LETHALITY MID, MAKE SURE TO BAN EITHER VEL'KOZ, MALZAHAR OR XERATH
Amumu
If whatever the case you lane against Amumu top, he will out Tank you from the very begining, so don't go with the tank build, just go for the regular build with Stride breaker
Sett
It's weird to say it, but a Sett vs Sett matchup can be difficult depending the build, even if he's not in the same lane as you, if you see there is a Sett in the enemy team, do NOT go with the tank build, since if he is smart, this will allow the Sett to ult you into your whole team, dealing massive damage with the extra health.
There is a chance you might win against him as a tank, but you'll need to get ahead of him quick, try to get help from your jungler, if you want to make it safe, go with the regular build with conqueror, doran's blade and start W, that way you can fight him head on, and the smartest sett will win, just use your W just before his W does the damage, since you can block it with your shield and deal a bit more damage to him since his shield will not be as big as yours.
Gnar
If you want to go against a Gnar you can go Tank, but it's way better to fight him if you have more movility, so the regular Sett build with Stridebreaker would be better, since he can just poke you a lot and then jump away
Fiora
Fiora can be a real pain if she gets ahead, since no matter what you do, if she lands the weak points it will do massive true damage to you, so be careful and just avoid getting CC'd by her counter, Start the match by getting some anti-healing and save your E in long fights to ensure you land a fully charged W and also to not get caught in her counter.
Cho'Gath
The only things you must be careful of is getting abused by his knockup, since you are the most vurnerable at that time, going tank can help you reduce the chance of getting ulted, but you need to snowball fast and avoid getting tons of damage, even if you think you can use it to your advantage.
Ahri
Like Zoe, as lethality mid against Ahri isn't that much of a threat if you bait her charm off, but she still has great movility, so watch out for her kiting, since she can bait out your spells instead of you baiting hers, try to go with cleanse instead of ignite if you are unsure you will not dodge her charm.
Ashe
Ashe can counter you with whatever build you have, since you're heavily melee range, and she can slow and kite you, melting you in an instant of you getting behind.
Tahm Kench
Tahm Kench is one of those Tanky champions you cannot out tank, so going with the Tank build will not win you lane, since your true damage will not outdamage his hp, go with a regular build for longer, more damaging fights in your favor, if you do go tank, just wait for ganks, since he will always outtrade you with all of his slows and also by eating you, if he gets ahead, don't leave your tower unless you get a gank
Azir
Azir is a real pain in mid, since he can just auto attack from far away with his soldiers, abuse him as much as you can from early, as soon as you get level 2 - 3, try to get as much help from your jungler as you can, try to get him to spawn a soldier far away from him so you can run in as soon as it happens, since he will have to move them to your current location to damage you, so try and get any quick trades like that, just becareful since he will win most long trades since he can melt you from afar
Corki
Corki is a sneaky champ like Kennen or Teemo, since he can just bully you in lane and as soon as you go close, will run away with his dash, so try to play aggressive and also get help from any jungler with CC, you need to get your prowler's claw as soon as possible so you can dash close and burst him.
Shaco
Shaco is a true nightmare to lane against, he is sneaky and will always fool you, most of the time winning lane or roaming a lot, usually i go with a regular build with fleet footwork to catch him, but as a tank you might endure his burst damage.
If the shaco is the enemy jungler, then avoid pushing too far into the enemy tower and staying there, since Shaco is the most annoying one, you will not be able to see him enough in the river so his ganks will make you lose most of the time, be sure to play smart and safe
Zoe
As Lethality mid, Zoe isn't much of a threat once you can bait her bubble, but it's still a great danger if you get CC'd since you're mostly a glass cannon, try to get Cleanse instead of ignite if you can't dodge her bubbles a lot, if not, get a QSS
Teemo
Everyone hates teemo, avoid going with the Lethality build against him, since his blind will nullify your whole burst damage, you can go with the tank build, but it's risky since you have no movility, but your W will damage him enough to fight him, most of the time just go movility with the regular sett stride breaker build and fleet footwork and just harass him as much as you can, don't be afraid of him kiting you, once you get your combo far enough, get back until your cooldowns are back.
Sion
If you go against a Sion, then be careful about going with the tank build, since Sion will always outscale you in being a tank, so you will fall short in damage to kill him after a few minutes of staying even against him. If you want to play it safe, go with a regular Stride breaker - BOTRK build
Ornn
Same with Sion, be careful about going with the tank build, since Ornn will always outscale you in being a tank, so you will always fall short in damage if you are playing in an even field against him. If you want to play it safe, go with a regular Stride breaker - BOTRK build
Viego
Viego is not a difficult match, but beware of his Q range, since he can just stay behind and poke you, try to get help from your jungler, since his Q passive will help him melt your health bar if he gets ahead pretty quick
Irelia
For any Sett build irelia is an easy match up as long as you know when to use your E and your W, but it's way easier as a tank, since everything the Irelia does to you, it will transform into your weapon, so make the fights as long as possible and then Stun with E and quickly use your charged W true damage, you want to also get some healing reduction, since a good Irelia can outplay you easily and make you waste your builtup grit, make sure to back whenever you have around 800 gold to buy a Bramble Vest, since it's highly necessary later on, to stop her from healing too much in longer trades.
Volibear
Just evade his lightning and do short trades with him if he is a bit ahead, since his bite can heal him a lot, it is highly recommended to go for the tank build and play it a bit slow but safe, starting to trade harder at level 2-3 using your charged grit
Kayle
Against Kayle you can go either Tank Sett or Regular Sett with Stridebreaker, just make sure to abuse her as much as you can, don't be afraid of taking a few autoattacks from her, since all she can do is run away from these before 6, get ahead as much as possible before this, since she will be able to kite you easier and then ult
Vladimir
When going mid with lethality, Vlad can be a pain, since he can dodge either your E stun to start your combo, or your W when finishing your combo, so always make sure to ignite WHEN YOU KNOW FOR SURE THE TRADE WILL KILL HIM, since he can heal a lot of his hp and run away, when going for a trade or all in, make sure to bait his pool first.
Neeko
For Neeko in mid, just dodge her stun and you should be fine, you can even use her clone to get between them and E her into a stun, to get your combo done
Gwen
Gwen is the new champion, and as every new champions, she is broken right now if you let her get a tiny bit ahead, just trade while moving as much as you can, since if you stay still, she will out damage you by dealing the true damage from her Q, also whenever you want to engage, beware of her W Zone, since you will not be able to deal any damage from outside, or even get any form of CC done to her
Akali
against an Akali mid, it's a weird lane, just go with the lethality build, bait out her invisibility and trade as usual with your E and your Q, just remember, she is an akali, and if she gets ahead she can snowball pretty easily with all of her dashes, avoid going all in if she still has her invisibility, since you will not be able to land any autoattack.
Mordekaiser
As a Tank you will be able to endure the damage of any Mordekaiser you lane against from level 2, just get any trades to continue as long as it can (TRY TO GET ALLY MINIONS CLOSE TO MINIMISE HIS Q DAMAGE SINCE HE CAN MAKE YOU EXPLODE IF HE HITS YOU ALONE) and then try to stun mordekaiser before he can get his W shield and then use yours to deal massive true damage, most of the time Mordekaiser's only engage against you will be his E, and that will help you to get close to him so you can all in, be careful about letting him get ahead, even with a couple kills he can outdamage you, so get a quicksilver slash and a thornmail as soon as possible.
A cool trick you can do to outtrade him, is to wait for him to cast his ultimate, since when casting his, you can cancel it by using yours, just hold on to your ultimate and use it as soon as you see him casting his ultimate, you can notice by his animation of holding his mace up towards you.
Tryndamere
it's known that Tryndamere can be a giant threat for any champion if you don't have enough stuns to keep him away after he Ults, but with the Tank build he won't deal enough damage to you to kill you, but he will deal enough so you can kill him with a E + W true damage combo, even after he Ults, you'll be able to Tank the damage until you have your E back to run away or kill him afterwards. Just beware of his jungler, since he can just sit under tower and wait for you to walk by, if he does this, just freeze the lane and let him miss everything, if he roams, just push the lane, since Tryndamere's strong point comes from splitpushing when he gets ahead, if you notice things get difficult after he roams, just tp and help.
Urgot
With the tank build against an Urgot, as long as you have a few stacks of Grasp of the Undying and your 3 basic abilities, you can out-trade them since he can quickly charge your W passive, don't worry if it seems he can melt you with his machine gun, because you can burst him with your W afterwards, dealing way more damage, just beware of his dash, since he can make your W face the other direction and negate your true damage, killing you instead, so if you are going to use your W, stay aware so you can react by using your W backwards and land it either way.
Shen
Shen will not be a problem as long as you go Tank, since your most powerful asset will be your W, you just need to endure getting taunted and then use your charged W to drop his healthbar, he can only block your basic attacks, so it's an easy win as long as you avoid tower diving him while his taunt is up.
Wukong
Wukong can be tricky, but if he leaves a clone, you can actually use it to stun him with your E
Jax
The only thing you need to be careful of against Jax, is to not get stunned by his counterattack, he can stack tons of damage and attack speed if the fight gets prolonged, so try and abuse him as much as you can so he can't get that much ahead of you, try and trade with him but as soon as he is doing his counterattack, stun him with your E and walk away, then trade again.
Heimerdinger
Just try to freeze the wave and trade every now and then, whenever all of your abilities are up you can chase with Q and stun him with E, he can melt you but you can abuse his turret damage to get a charged W at him
Katarina
Against a good Katarina, as lethality mid can be a difficult match, she can easily dodge your E with her Shunpo, so as long as you don't let her snowball and you abuse her as much as you can by trading with the full hail of blades combo, you should be safe
Ziggs
as lethality mid, just keep up the CS, you may not get any kills early since Ziggs can just run away with his abilities and slow you down, but if you get your Prawler's claw, you can easily kill him by dashing towards him, or a minion close to him and using your full combo, try to get help from your jungler by freezing the lane
Annie
with her stun and her explosive damage, she is a difficult match, try to bait out her stun before going in, i recommend going with Cleanse instead of ignite and also get Prowler's Claw as soon as possible, or else it will be a nightmare to lane against
Veigar
As lethality mid, Veigar can be a bit difficult if he knows how to keep his distance, but once you get your Prawler's claw, you can easily get to him, if you feel insecure about him stunning you (and also the enemy team has a lot of cc), you can change ignite to cleanse
Yasuo
Yasuo is not any threat as long as you know how to save your E and your W to stun him, this is for both the normal Sett build and the Tank build, for the assassin, you just have to trade as frequent as possible with hail of blades starting with your E for the extra damage from your runes and then AA - AA - Q - AA - AA
Yone
The same as Yasuo, he can be no threat as long as you know how to save your E and your W, except for Yone you must be aware of where his phisical body is whenever you fight, With the Lethality build, you just have to trade as frequent as possible with hail of blades starting with your E for the extra damage from your runes and then AA - AA - Q - AA - AA
Quinn
Against Quinn you just need to try and predict her dash, since you can cancel it by using your E at the same time and avoid getting damaged, but try to not go with the tank build since you'll lack mobility and she can just kite you
Darius
Darius is required to get close and damage you a lot, for any regular build this would be fatal, but if you go with the tank build, you just need to endure until your W is charged up so you can stun and kill him with the burst damage of your W and then shield bash, don't get cocky tho, since he can still execute you if you get low enough with all stacks and get ahead easily to the point this will not work as intended
Nasus
It's known what you must do against a Nasus, just try and avoid him getting any farm, even if it means just freezing the wave under your turret, warding the bushes and then you can easily kill him level 2 by trading him, since you will always outdamage him IF HE DOESN'T GET TO STACK HIS Q
Riven
Usually Riven is a scary match up since every fight with her is a close call, but as a tank, riven is an easy win, since you will endure most of her damage, even at level 1 with only your E, just try to trade smartly and then you win the moment you get your W.
Garen
As a tank, Garen is an easy win, just abuse his E damage to charge your W and avoid getting your health too low so he can't execute you with his ult, you can block his ult with your W Shield, but try to play it safe.
Singed
Singed is not a big problem, but more of an annoyance, just trade and be careful everytime he gets close to you, you can cancel his throw by stunning him, also, a cool trick to kill him under turret, is to fight him, wait for his throw and then ult him out of the turret towards the lane, just do the basic thing against Singed and don't be tricked into chasing him for too long.
Yuumi
Yuumi will give you everything you need to technically 1v5 if you're the one ahead, even extra hp for your W.
Any Support that can grant you movement speed AND a shield is a great synergy, for both the lethality and the tank build, for the lethality the movement speed is great for getting close to your prey, and for the tank the extra shields and heals will make you extra tanky and the shield bash will be activated more often.
Lulu
If you go with the tank build, it's noticed that you'll go with the most hp and SIZE possible, so Lulu's Ult is ideal for you when late game comes
Elise
Whatever build you go, with Elise's help you can dive anyone, since your ultimate will carry the enemy out of the tower, leaving it open for Elise to either kill or give you the kill.
Ivern
Getting close is always ideal for Sett, specially with the lethality build, since you only need to stun someone to kill them with your combo, so Ivern's stun is the best synergy for your engage
Nunu & Willump
You can set up ganks for nunu pretty easily, you can either use your E to pull enemies into his snowball or after the snowball hits, and also you can ult an enemy into his ultimate, making them get all the damage from it. Just make sure not to get any enemy OUT of his ultimate, it's a pretty common mistake by most sett players to ult the same time someone else does, but it's just miscomunication
Taric
With the Lethality build, you will be a glass cannon, so Taric's ultimate will let you go on a rampage in a teamfight
Sylas
Sylas can steal the enemy's ultimate, so if there is an enemy Lulu, you can ask the sylas to use it on you in case you get to late game and you are unstoppable
Miss Fortune
you know the rules, and so do i, you will most likely always ult the same target at the same time MF does because she won't tell you who she will ult OR she will just ult too fast

First of all Thanks for taking your time to check this, this is my first post and I hope this will get some variety in your build pool for Sett mains.
this is still testing so if I ever learn any new build i will post it too, but for now I hope this is some help to you all.
Also if you have any advice on how to improve this post please tell me, since i am new in this and i don't know a lot on how to give every little detail and make it extra fancy.
Sett 4 Punch man Assassin
To start off with the game, you want to check your match up, if you're against something that will get close face to face against you like a yasuo/yone, you'll want to get a doran's blade, if you're against something you'll have to get away or something that will poke you a lot, get a shield.
When you get to lane, it's important you harass your enemy with your E and you hit them a bit with hail of blades, then once you get your Q, it's time for you to go for killer trades, try to get close and stun with your E (since you have extra damage from cheap shot), then it's the time to use the true power of hail of blades Sett, since the runes allow you to do an extra hit with any auto reset, you want to AA - AA - Q - AA - AA, that way you get a fast and powerful 4 punch combo, that's why you want to get two points in power in your runes instead of just one and then attack speed.
try to use that combo as often as possible, always waiting for your Hail of Blades to charge before going in for a trade.
as told before, your W in this case is not your most powerful attack, so you can use it against champions which have a passive shield like Malzahar or Yasuo.
When you get Prowler's Claw, you can use it on minions (if you can't use it on champions) to get close and E the enemy.
Prowler's Claw is an important asset to prepare for ganking other lanes, since this will give you the mobility you need to assassinate the enemy adc, even if you flash over a wall.
Also, you want to remember, this is NOT a Tank build, since you'll go for Assasinations, this build is to go in, kill and get out, you are a powerful glass cannon, so don't expect to be a front line if you don't insta kill the carry of the enemy
Sett Colossal Tank
This is the star of the show for top laners, it works for almost everything and you'll be of great help to your team if they are in need of a tank.
For this Build you want to get as much HP as you can, this will make your W really powerful in battle and your next Auto Attack do massive damage with Shield Bash.
Also to notice that you'll get Massive size since you'll go Frostbite Gauntlet, so the Mecha skin is a fun add to it.
To start you'll want to always get a Doran's Shield, then once you get to lane don't go straight to fighting, first at least charge your Grasp of the undying and then go for some poke with your E and some Autoattacks.
the time to kill is when you get your level 2, Go for your W and then try to go for all ins, the trick is to fight saving your W for last, saving your E to secure a full blown W with true damage in the center is optional, once the enemy has charged up your grit, try to land a fully charged W and hit the true damage, then go for an Auto Attack to get the Shield bash and do extra damage, repeat this process and you'll do massive damage and also endure a ton of damage, once you get 2-3 extra items you'll be a massive and steady front liner, since you'll also get a huge hitbox thanks to the Gauntlet
