Skill matchup, poke him, short trades, wait for 6 you can likely kill him.
Camille
The most annoying matchup, play safe till 6, she will have much better trades than you, try to kite her w and then poke with q, try avoiding her stun, and try baiting her shield or trade only when its down. Pay attention to her Cooldowns as much as possible.
Akali
Kites you easy, annoying matchup, wait for her Shroud to be down to fight her, try fighting her pre 6. Rush Hex Drinker.
Jax
Skill based, try short trades, avoid counterstrike if you can, go all out 6, if you can watch his CDs so you can full combo him.
Fiora
Go grasp, play safe, spam ping JG for assistance, if you think you can win try baiting out her riposte and full combo her. Hardest Matchup.
Cho'Gath
Ez matchup watch out for his Q and poke him as much as possible. You can still lose this matchup so don't all in him if he has all CDs up, he has better sustain, can cc you, and execute you.
Dr. Mundo
Annoying, just watch for poke, get anti-heal.
Gangplank
He pokes very hard and can kite you easy with his movement speed, go for level 6 kill potential, really watch out for barrels and watch for his Q CD.
Garen
Hard to kill him unless he plays dumb, this matchup is boring, but it shouldn't give you trouble.
Gnar
I find gnar toxic against Aatrox, but you should be able to win, dodge skill shots, trade him when his mega gnar is completely down, at 6 you should be able to win against him.
Hecarim
Hec is in a good spot, watch for his E, poke him, play safe.
Heimerdinger
try killing him early on when he is no escape or damage, later on wait for 6, watch out for his E Cooldown. Also go hex drinker rush.
Illaoi
You have to dodge her skill shots, if not say goodbye to top, watch for her cooldowns and try killing her pre 6, her ult is very hard to fight if she ever ults just run, but if you think you can kill her go for it.
Irelia
Skill matchup, Good irelia will be tough, Fight her when her stacks are down, dodge her E, try reserving a second Q if she dives on you, at 6 she has good kill potential try killing her beforehand, but you can also try dodging her ult or standing your ground with yours.
Kayle
Ez pz if you dont play dumb, kill her as many times as possible pre six, make her miss xp and farm, try getting your JG to tower dive if possible, but also watch out for hers, a JG will have hard prio on her. Doesnt really become a problem for you until lv 16. If she splits try and have you or someone else mirror her.
Kennen
He is poke, try killing before 6, poke him as well, try avoiding his ult.
Kled
He has anti heal on his Q, Long trades are favourable for him because of skaarl, try getting him of Skaarl with pokes and then all in him
Malphite
Tilting match up because he can just avoid any trade with you and will poke you out of lane all with his q, he has crazy kill potential with ult, stacks armor fast, play safe, watch out for his CDs, merc rush as well.
Maokai
Should not be too hard, try killing him before 6, poke him, keep your distance from him and bushes. He will rush bramble most likely just like any other tank match up, he heals as well so grab exe, he becomes a problem later.
Mordekaiser
Skill matchup, most fun matchup, wait for him to ult before you do, poke him, short trades, avoid his skillshots if you can.
Nasus
Ez pz, same with kayle, force him out of xp range and harass him, watch out for his ult though.
Ornn
He has good early power because he can build bramble in lane, watch out for his Qand E combo, watch W CD, at 6 try dodging his ult, then all in him with yours. Play way from walls too.
Poppy
Early game damage is insane, look out for her passive and try denying it, play safe, play away from walls, she can shut you down easy, play for 6 and poke her.
Quinn
Ez lane phase will outscale you fast though, just bully her, poke her, play around her CDs, try all in at 6.
Sett
Skill matchup, play around his CDs as much as possible, poke him, watch out for his ult, don't let him bully you.
Renekton
Can snowball in lane, play safe, wait till 6, poke him, if you can look for a full combo.
Rengar
I take two paths in this matchup I try to shove him up so he cant use bushes or let him shove me so I can safely farm. If you shove him he cant do much, but you can be ganked easily. If you let him shove you, understand his passive range, play around it, if you him see go in a bush try to predict what he will do, at 6 you can kill him easily, always try to get full combos on him when extends out from a bush.
Riven
You are similar characters, she is just in better spot than Aatrox. Try bullying her pre 6 with pokes, full combos, but dont take long trades she has a better Q cooldown, and because the way her passive works she will do more damage close range. At 6 she easily kill if she combos you, so try to jump the gun on her first.
Lucian
Really strong top lane, but Aatrox is a solid counter if played right, always watch for his Dash, if he uses his dash he is as good as dead, play safe till 3 then try to full combo him, at 6 killing him will be quite easy, try letting him shove you at first.
Gragas
Just poke him out of lane and dodge his Q if possible, rush hex drinker if possible.
Olaf
You can poke him, try killing before 6, if he is able to stick on to you save your W to drag him off along with Second and third Q, this matchup is similar to Reneketon because he can snowball in lane so keep your distance!
Yorick
Tilting Match up again, just a good counter to Aatrox, try saving your E for his cage, avoid his other skill shots , play safe, Yorick can tower dive you at 6 though with maiden, so if you can make him waste his cage and try going all in with your R because that is the best opportunity you will get.
Rumble
This champ is just annyoing, he can full run you down with just his Q, avoid his Q and wait till he his overheated, then full combo him, avoid his other skill shots and it shouldn't be too hard.
Graves
Yes this matchup exists and it is cancer, he does high damage, stacks armor, and can dodge all of your abilities easy, do your best to play safe and capitalize on openings, watch for his cool downs.
Lulu
Champ is kinda broken, play safe, capitalize on openings, poke her down and play at a good distance, at 6 you have a lot of potential to kill her.
Shen
Poke him, avoid his abilities, bait out his shields, don't fight him in his W, ez win.
Singed
Dont chase him, try keeping him under tower, but dont ever try tower diving singed it goes badly, wait for your JG to dive, both of you should be 6 though, poke him beforehand, you dont want him to proxy either.
Sion
Just avoid his Q then all in him, he really cant do anything, but avoid his passive so all in only if you have good health.
Nidalee
Champ is disgusting honesty, cant really do much here, just dodge her Spear and try to all in her at 6, play safe until then, if she jumps on you save your W to pull her back alongside a Q chain and then you might be able to kill her.
Pantheon
Should be easy when you get your ult, full combo him any chance you get, set up a second Q into an E if he jumps on to you.
Rammus
This matchup is similar to Malphite because he just stacks armor and will do a shit ton of damage even for a tank, try killing him before 6, because after 6 he will just run you down, play safe, poke him, let him shove you, do your best to full combo him when he Qs.
Cassiopeia
Dumb, unplayable actually, your best chance is to kill her early on with a full combo at 3.
Ryze
Phase rush is really strong so he can just kite you all game, he will poke you crazy, so try to return the pokes and full combo him if you get the chance, but dont chase if he gets phase rush he will just dodge everything and blow you up, pay attention to his mana too.
Tahm Kench
Just poke him out of lane and keep your distance, play behind minions.
Yasuo
Pretty easy, avoid his skill shot, and all in him every opportunity you get, if he gets on to you reserve a second and third Q with W to decimate him, be poking him as well.
Yone
Much harder than yasuo, mostly because his E is stupid and his Q has a much longer rang, his w gives a strong shield too, wait for him to use cool downs to fight him, avoid his E.
Zac
Poke him, he has really good sustain, let him shove you, dont all in him without ult, unless you set up a nice combo, keep distance.
Wukong
SO annoying, he stacks armor, has insane escape and poke, and at 6 he can just run you down, play smart and pay attention to his cool downs, poke him a lot, reserve second Q and E if he jumps on to you,
Volibear
If he gets onto you, say goodnight, so when you see him q run away, play distance, poke, all in him at 6 if you have the health.
Vladimir
Should be easy when you get to 3, full combo him, poke him, avoid his abilities, play distance.
Vayne
Trying killing her before level 3 because she will have all the abilities she needs to dodge you after that, if not play safe until 6 and try to all in her, MAKE SURE YOU HIT THOSE Qs THOUGH. Always find opportunities to combo her so pay attention to those cool downs.
Sylas
Skill matchup, avoid his skills shots, all in him at 6, but play smart becasue he can yoink it, keep your distance, reserve second and third Q with W if he gets on to you.
Tryndamere
Just poke him out of lane similar to nasus, but trynd still has good early trading power so watch out for his fury, watch out for his ult.
Teemo
Wait till 6 to kill him, unless you find an opening to full combo him, let him shove you and keep your distance, pay attention to where he puts his mushrooms, should not be hard.
Urgot
He is crazy, try dodging his R , poke him, play safe, try to set up full combos before 6, he can run you down so try returning fire to the best you can, good kill potential for you both at 6 so play smart.
Skarner
Poke him, dont let him pull you under his tower, all in him when he is low enough.
Aatrox is my favorite champ in League of Legends, he is extremely fun, although being weaker than most, his gameplay is just satisfying for me. I first started playing Aatrox early in season 10 and dropped him because I had no idea what I was doing. Then, Hashinshin inspired me to play him again and became obsessed with Aatrox since then. If you are trying to pick up Aatrox I recommend it because he can be really fun, but dont lose yourself if you are getting rolled, because that is a sign of weakness. My favorite part about Aatrox has to be his Ultimate, when I use it and get kills with, I literally start ascending IRL, I know crazy. Playing Aatrox just feels so badass, and I love that.
