Choose Champion Build:
Spells:
Ghost
Exhaust
Ability Order
Glory in Death (PASSIVE)
Sion Passive Ability
Introduction
There are two builds, one for normal 3v3 or 5v5 matches and the second one is for Dominion. While it's almost the same build, you want to change some of your runes to those that increase stats more when you level up, as in Dominion leveling is faster. I will include a whole new chapter for playing Sion in Dominion and explaining the changes I made to my original build.
Sion's Pros:
Sion's Cons:
-
- Great stun with huge potential to make massive damage in short time
- Shield that allows line harrasment early game and also provides some defence later
- Permament health gain (starting early game, making you HP beast late game)
- Surprisingly hard to kill, even tho he is AP carry with this build
- Great in team fights late game
Sion's Cons:
-
- Getting close can be hard as Sion is easily CCed
- HAS to get close
- Susceptible to CC
A little review on Sion's skills:
Feel No Pain (Passive)
Sion has a 40% chance to ignore up to 30 / 40 / 50 damage each time he is hit by an autoattack. The damage reduction is calculated before armor and percentage damage reduction benefits are taken into account.
Really nice passive for early game minion farming but pretty useless late game. Its still nice passive overall and grants Sion much needed early game benefits.
Cryptic Gaze
His gaze terrifies a single enemy, dealing magic damage and stunning for 1.5 seconds.
Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds
Magic Damage: 70 / 125 / 180 / 240 / 300 (+1.0 per ability power)
Cost: 100 mana
Range: 550
Projectile speed: 1600
The main thing with this is the stun. It grants Sion the ability to get close to his target to deal that ton of damage we are focusing on this build. It's also nice for interrupting channeled spells and helps Sion get away if ganked early game. Really awesome spell and that's the main reason Sion is so awesome, the small damage it does is just a bonus.
Death's Caress
Sion surrounds himself with a shield which absorbs damage for up to 10 seconds. After 4 seconds, if the shield has not been destroyed, the ability can be cast again to explode and deal magic damage to surrounding enemies. It will explode automatically after the 10 seconds have passed.
Cooldown: 8 seconds after shield expires
Explosion area: 550
Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 mana
Shield Strength/Magic Damage: 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 (+1.0 per ability power)
This shield is the main ability you should focus on when playing with Sion. Timing it is important, and understanding its manual exploding possibilities are VERY important. Late game it deals TONS of damage with this build, and thats why its important to get close to your target when you are about to explode it. It also allows great early game lane control, and is overall a really great ability that makes Sion.. well Sion.
Enrage
While active each of Sion's autoattacks will deal extra physical damage at the cost of some health. Additionally, he permanently increases his maximum health whenever he kills a unit.
Cost: 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 health per attack
Extra Physical Damage: 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65
Health Gained: 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 / 3 per kill
You want to keep this spell up ALL THE TIME. Sure, you lose some health, but it's easily paying its price back with huge damage burst it gives. Just get some life stealing or health regen and its fine, also the PERMANENT HP boost is awesome to get early game, making you huge HP damage beast.
Cannibalism (Ultimate)
Grants Sion lifesteal and 50% attack speed for 20 seconds. Additionally, Sion's autoattacks will heal surrounding allies for a percentage of the damage dealt.
Cost: 100 mana
Cooldown: 90 seconds
Area of effect: 200
Life Steal: 50 / 75 / 100 %
Heal: 25 / 37.5 / 50 %
This ultimate.. It's awesome. 50% attack speed boost is awesome for any melee, and that's why I like to buy Hextech Gunblade early for damage boost on normal attacks aswell. Along with hitting fast and hard, you get freaking ridiculous lifesteal boost. If you ever for some reason go 1v1 and have this ultimate ready, there is nothing to stop you. You heal your health full with only 3 hits, and with 1,5sec stun it should be no problem to get those hits trough. It also has really low cooldown, which makes it something that you want to be using a lot, and not trying to save it for later. I also like to run cooldown reduce runes to get this beast usable almost all the time. With duration of 20seconds and cooldown of around 60seconds, you will be kicking *** with this ultimate.
Depending on the enemy team, you might actually want to get Enrage to rank 2-3 sooner in some situations. The HP boost it gives grows every rank it gets, so if you have Enrage rank 3 you will get 2 HP/kill. While this may not seem like a lot, Sion is capable of killing minions really fast with his Death's Caress. Getting around 10-20 permament HP boost for each minion pack you killed gives you advantage in health early game, and allows you to lane better.

Ghost is awesome choice for Sion. It helps you get close to your target to get damage done with your shield. It also helps you get away if ganked early game. Definitely best choice for Sion.

With dominion released, I decided to add little changes to my build. I updated what runes you should use in Dominion (I feel that runes that give higher bonus at higher levels are better in Dominion, as you level a LOT faster). Also some Dominion items are included in second build. Check it out if you are Dominion fan like I am. I will be updating my builds as I continue to find new things that are useful in Dominion especially!
While following any build is a good thing, you should NOT always do as it says. Find your own favourite playing style and try new things, as it might get really boring to play same Champion and with same build all the time. Use builds here as guidelines and mix them together, make your own builds, and most importantly,
Thank you for reading my FIRST build. It still has a lot things missing, and I would appreciate if you would leave feedback and rate it, the way you feel it deserves of course. Critic is welcome too, in fact any feedback is just positive. Im eager to hear your opinions and toughts! So, feel free to comment and rate however you feel!
