Introduction

Hi, my name is ZeroMentality and I'm a platinum Talon main. I love playing Talon and I find him very fun, although difficult to master. He's a good champion for carrying your team and I'll show you how in this guide. I'll talk about positioning, combos and his laning phase.

Runes

For runes I like to use all armor penetration marks, armor seals, magic resist glyphs and flat AD quintessences. You can use flat ad marks if you prefer easier last hitting.

Masteries

I use 21/9/0 for talon putting points in the added crit damage. You would want to do this because the point of getting critical strike on talon is to do one massive crit, not alot of medium damage crits like the adc.

Items

Talon needs items or he'll be useless. You should build armor pen almost every game, unless they don't buy any armor, in that case buy a Bloodthirster. For late game you should rely on Youmuu's Ghostblade and Infinity Edge for crits and buy Black Cleaver and Last Wisper for armor pen. I like to buy Ravenous Hydra as my last finished item because the life steal isn't really needed unless you're laning against a champion that has alot of poke like Nidalee or Zed. Use your Tiamat/Ravenous Hydra in your combo for stunning amounts of damage.

Skill Sequence

I like to max Talon's abilities in the order R>W>Q>E. W is a good farming tool, and as such you should max it first if you want to cs easy. You could max Q first but I don't recommend it because there is really no reason.

Spells

Flash and Ignite are awesome spells for Talon because you can Flash - E - rest of the combo. You can do a lot of cool unexpected combos because of flash. Ignite is useful because when you Q - Ignite you will deal around 800 damage late game. It is awesome at baiting a barrier and still getting a kill. You can use Ghost on Talon but I prefer Flash just because you can do plays with Flash. Clarity is not good, buy mana pots if in need of mana. Revive is a bad spell because for it to be useful you need to die, and you are better off taking another summoner spell to PREVENT dying at all. You can run Barrier instead of Ignite, you just don't have the ignite for the finisher. Teleport is a good spell and I love using it, but not for Talon. Buy Mobility Boots to get the same effect of teleport. Cleanse isn't good unless you're against a heavy CC team composition, and then you lack damage if you switch Ignite out for it. Exhaust is nice but ignite is better in my opinion, you can use it, but again, I prefer Ignite. Clairvoyance is absolutely useless and you should not use it.

Ranked Play

Talon is awesome in soloq because of his insane kill and carry potential. It's very easy to snowball, and he's hard to shut down. Late game you can one shot the enemy adc and it makes Talon a champion to be afraid of if you're over the 50 minute mark.

Pros / Cons

    Great waveclear
    Fast assassinations
    Good laning after 6
    Looks like a badass
    Difficult to play
Combos are easily countered by a Zhonya's Hourglass/Flashing out of his ult
    Weak pre-6
    Easy to zone out early
Snares and stuns are his bane of existance

Team Work

As you are an assassin and can one shot the enemy adc, you're a great champion for teamwork because in fights you should be able to make it a 4v5 out of a 5v5. You have easy roaming and can go bot quickly to get a double kill.

Farming

You should farm as much as possible and get tiamat. With only tiamat at level 9 you can auto attack any of the meelee creeps, use tiamat and W all of the minions for a quick 6 cs.
Getting more ad will help and if your jungler is fine with it, you can clear the wave, go to Wraiths, clear the wave, go to Wolves, clear the wave, go to Wraiths and so on. This will get you an insane amount of farm and you should have more than 10cs/minute of the game (20 min - 227cs).
