Threats & Synergies
Aphelios
Heavily support dependant, Aphelios with a Lulu can be unplayable for Jhin if you are not paired with a strong support.
Ashe
Ashe has high consistent DPS and a permanent slow that puts Jhin in precarious scenarios. Can be beaten with a stronger support matchup. Consider cleanse and potentially Merc Treads.
Draven
Mainly support dependant but due to Draven's extremely high single target damage try not to take him in a 1v1 at almost any point in the game unless you are extremely fed and can 2-shot him.
Ezreal
Not a problem if you can dodge his skillshots comfortably, if you're pisslow he might be an issue. Could change depending on balance, but Ezreal is also weak in Season 11 further diminishing any power he could have over Jhin.
Heimerdinger
Provides too much area denial to let Jhin be comfortable, it's possible to survive with a strong support but avoid this matchup if possible. Jhin struggles heavily to delete Heimerdinger's turrets and doesn't like the gameplay loop of Heimer.
Jinx
Support dependant, Jinx can outscale but Jhin shouldn't have a problem pre-3 items.
Kai'Sa
While there is outplay potential for Jhin, a good Kai'Sa will prove a difficult matchup. It is difficult to land a W or R shots on her without a good engage from your support, and even then her turn potential with Kai'Sa R is very high. Beware of her immense burst damage and turn potential though and Jhin should be able to survive until later in the game where Kai'Sa will likely faceroll Jhin.
Kalista
Support dependant. Try to avoid letting her stack spears on you and wait for her to be immobilised to followup with W. Impossible to hit a skilled Kalista without some form of CC already applied. Consider taking Plated Steelcaps.
Kog'Maw
Support dependant. Typically Kog'Maw will be paired with a Lulu, in which he becomes a siginficantly stronger threat, however if not paired with Lulu or you have a good poking support, Kog'Maw will not be much of a threat until post-3 items. Positioning is key in this matchup as mitigating his DPS while his W is up is critical.
Lucian
Support dependant. Not much to be said other than that, respect his potential burst and dash range but also be ready to punish greedy dashes. Overall not too difficult.
Miss Fortune
Strongly support dependant. If Miss Fortune is paired with either a Leona or Amumu be extremely cautious as their kill potential is unbearable. If paired with anything else, outplay potential is available. The only counter to the MF+Leona/Amumu matchup would be to have a Morgana with good reaction times, or play 3 screens away from MF's support.
Senna
Senna shouldn't provide too much of a problem until later in the game when her scaling becomes immense. Try to minimise the amount of souls she can get for free from you by doing strong retaliation trades when she walks up. Be aware of tricks with her E as she can hide teammates in it. As long as she doesn't scale out of control this should be a fine matchup.
Seraphine
Seraphine carry should be simple enough to play against as Jhin, although be aware of her extended R potential and generally high range + shielding. Same goes for Seraphine support.
Syndra
A good Syndra bot will be very difficult to play against as Jhin. I suggest avoiding this matchup, but if you have to play into it I would strongly recommend Merc Treads and do your best to avoid her stuns. Be constantly aware of tricks like Syndra's E+Q combo and just generally pay attention to her balls otherwise you will be one shot and this lane will scale out of control.
Tristana
Dodge this matchup. It is unplayable for Jhin. If you absolutely have to play into it, buy a Shieldbow + Plated Steelcaps and pray your support is a god, also ask your support to take exhaust or even take it yourself.
Twitch
Very difficult if Twitch is paired with a Lulu or Yuumi, nearly unplayable if he becomes fed. Pay very heavy attention to where he could be in stealth and play around your team. Keep people aware of where he is with pings as well. This matchup is a heavy test of awareness and vision control.
Varus
Support dependant. Be very aware of his ult and potential flash plays as if you are hit by it you will likely be one shot. Consider taking Cleanse.
Vayne
Support dependant, very scary once Vayne starts getting items. Be constantly aware of outplay potential, but with good positioning which includes avoiding walls (and being aware of condemn-flashes by Vayne) this matchup shouldn't be too tricky. Once she starts scaling at 2 items+ you will have to play with the intention of one shotting her at any given opportunity. She cannot be allowed to play the game freely.
Xayah
When paired with Rakan this matchup can be very oppressive and you will have to give up certain things in lane. If she is paired with this support, be aware as they have kill threat from level 1. With other supports this matchup should be fine as long as you pay attention to her feather placement.
Ziggs
Support dependant. Ziggs can provide very strong poke and be a general nuisance in lane but shouldn't be able to kill you as long as you have hands. It is very likely though that, unless he has a weak support, he will take your tower and scale faster than you thanks to tower plating. Be aware of this and you should be fine.
Alistar
As with many supports, Jhin prefers CC oriented engage supports and Alistar fits the bill for this. Play around his WQ combo and you should be able to get solo kills semi-consistently after your opponents flashes have been blown.
Amumu
Amumu support is a strong addition to the engage support category as of Season 11, and therefore is someone that Jhin enjoys playing with. Pre-6 make sure you W between Amumu Q's, post-6 wait until his full combo is done (Q-R-Q).
Bard
Bard is a high-pressure support but doesn't provide much outside of potential Q stuns for Jhin to work well with. However, the pressure should be enough to allow you to safely free farm and scale harder than your opponents. It is also noteworthy that the gank potential this champion provides when combined with your jungle/mid is very handy.
Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank's grabs CAN be strong for Jhin, but can also be a hindrance. If he is able to pull immobile ADC's, you should be able to one-shot them and scale. If champions like Leona are pulled though, it can be more of a hindrance than a benefit for Jhin.
Brand
The poke is nice for pressure but doesn't provide Jhin with much in the way of synergy.
Braum
Braum's passive is not the best with Jhin as it will get stacked slowly and there will not be much damage remaining once the target is stunned. The peeling is nice and Braum's R is nice for Jhin, but otherwise this is a pretty mediocre synergy.
Galio
Solid support when this champion is strong for Jhin. However, this champion has individually struggled since the removal of his taunt-flash combo and as such has not seen much play in bot lane.
Janna
Janna is a roaming support, and whilst the early pressure is nice it leaves much to be desired for Jhin individually. The peel is nice when against assassins or Tristana but in a large majority of situations this isn't a fantastic support for Jhin.
Karma
High-pressure laner, not the best synergies with Jhin however this champion dominates lanes and provides you the opportunity to either free farm or capitalise from getting free skillshots on heavily slowed or rooted targets.
Leona
A fantastic support for Jhin, Leona provides heavy lockdown periods that allow you to hit easy skillshots and free-hit your opponent. Should be easy to get consistent solo kills if your Leona is at all competent.
Lulu
Lulu doesn't provide much for Jhin, she prefers to be paired with hypercarries like Kog'Maw or just high DPS champions like Aphelios or Ashe. Of which, Jhin definitely isn't. The peel can be nice if against heavy assassin comps, but this is a support that shouldn't be paired with Jhin unless you have a hypercarry somewhere else in the game like Kindred jungle.
Lux
True support Lux (shield max with support items & guardian/aftershock) is surprisingly good with Jhin as the CC, damage potential and immense shielding is quite nice. Damage Lux is, however, very bad for Jhin. Sadly, that will be a majority of Lux support pickers.
Morgana
Situationally strong. When picked into high CC supports like Nautilus or Leona this champion has very high value and will be great with any ADC, including Jhin. Otherwise, she leaves quite a bit to be desired. She does provide decent CC which is beneficial to land free skillshots.
Nami
Does close to nothing for Jhin. Peel is not reliable enough, she prefers being paired with high-DPS ADCs like Varus or Aphelios due to her buffing. The sustain can be nice but it costs a lot of her resources to consistently sustain.
Nautilus
Similar to Leona, this is a great support for Jhin. Provides lengthy lockdown periods for you to hit free skillshots on and enough damage to almost guarantee kills on anyone that gets caught. Ideal support for Jhin.
Pantheon
If the Pantheon player is competent you should have a good time with him, otherwise this champion is very easy to feed on. However, assuming the players are competent, you should be able to get some free kills with the immense pressure Pantheon provides. The CC windows are not as significant as champions like Leona or Nautilus, so bear that in mind when chaining your skills with his W.
Pyke
Pyke is a very high-skill champion that has a hard time with managing fights if his hook is missed and people play around his E well enough. Whilst he can provide insane scaling thanks to the extra gold on his R executes, he also has next to no waveclear, heavily skillshot reliant and is useless when behind. If your Pyke does well though, it should be a free path to being ahead in items.
Poppy
When picked into the right matchups (Leona, Nautilus, Yasuo) this champion is fantastic. Provides great CC and decent damage. However, if picked into anything that isn't a counterpick this champion will be borderline useless.
Rakan
Decent synergy with Jhin. Provides almost guaranteed CC engages with R and W, solid sustain with Q and good peeling. Will likely not be able to 100-0 your opponents with Rakan, however this shouldn't be too huge of an issue.
Rell
Fantastic champion for Jhin, provides an immense amount of CC, decent peeling with her Taric-esque stun and is able to provide near-undodgeable engages for you and your team.
Seraphine
Mediocre pairing with Jhin. Unreliable CC and damage makes this champ not work fantastic with Jhin. She does provide fantastic shielding and, therefore, defence, which is great when against high-pressure lanes but in general doesn't work great with this champion.
Sett
Pretty solid champion. Does an unholy amount of damage with his W and hexflash+Nimbus Cloak engages are quite strong. Provides decent CC for you to land your W or R shots. Could be considered ideal due to current balancing but otherwise is just strong.
Shaco
One trick champion whose primary strength is countering engage supports. Leaves a LOT to be desired for Jhin.
Shen
Decent champion plagued by unreliable CC outside of taunt-flashes. Provides good peeling against auto-attacking champions but otherwise is not as ideal as other CC supports on this list.
Sona
Does nearly nothing for Jhin. Her R can be decent but that's about it. Provides decent pressure but Jhin cannot do a huge amount in terms of defence for her extremely low health pool.
Soraka
Thanks to current balancing this champion is strong/ideal with almost any ADC in the game, including Jhin. Her healing throughput is immense and has very high laning pressure when piloted by a competent player. Depending on future balancing she may drop in power, at least with champions like Jhin. Typically, Soraka is only an OK support for him, but she is strong enough at the moment that her normal ranking is irrelevant.
Swain
Provides solid pressure but is an extremely volatile champ that loses almost all value if his E is missed. Be aware of his pull before using your W and everything should be fine.
Taric
When piloted by a skilled Taric player this champion is not too bad, but is too unreliable to be consistently good and is also matchup dependant. If picked by a competent player into engage teams then there is great value, otherwise this champion is mediocre.
Thresh
Very strong champion that can be picked into almost any lane in the game. Provides great CC as long and as long as you are aware of ranges will give you easy skillshots. Thresh's lantern is also invaluable for repositioning either aggressively or defensively.
Trundle
Pretty good champion, based almost entirely around his pillar so be aware of that. Should provide fairly easy skillshots due to the slow on his pillar.
Vex
This champion is too new to give a definitive answer about, however she is looking good as a support and provides pretty solid pressure and consistent-ish CC for you to land skillshots. Needs more data though to provide a definitive answer.
Yuumi
Provides almost nothing that Jhin wants. Boosted stats are okay but the tradeoff is a champion with next to zero laning pressure and pretty okay healing.
Zilean
Meh. Damage is okay if things hit, which is a big if. CC is bad, primarily picked for a resurrection which can be decent but is otherwise mediocre.
Zyra
High lane pressure champion, similar to Karma. Difference is that Zyra is much harder to pilot effectively and is much more skillshot reliant. She can be a bit more effective into skillshots though thanks to plant placement, but that is something that would prove difficult for a majority of Zyra players.
