Champion Build Guide
Introduction
Hello everyone! I'm Virtus / Void Behemoth.
I have miticulously created a ton of builds that I believe cho excels with. :P
I am just a emerald Cho'Gath but i do love to do a lot of theorycrafting. (Peaked emerald 3, wanted to be higher but i keep getting 0/20 adc and jgl :< )
This one is one of my most researched one, and I hope it satisfies all you cho'gath mains out there!
General Discussion
One thing you'll quickly realize is that... I despise Hextech Rocketbelt...
It's not necessarily because it's bad, but because I do not like the distance gap of it. The haste also infuriates me as cho is already plenty mana hungry if you can't farm minions.
Originally, this was a guide in how to maximize the potential of fimbulwinter. But as time went on, the effectiveness of the item decreased as damage from champions rose exponentially (specially with noxus season)
The combination between mana tears being stackable and gluttonous greaves being implemented into the game(even more Immortal Path so with , the item once more rose in strength.
However, as of late riot has been making some pretty bold changes to items. One of them being dusk and dawn and imperial mandate. These items really made cho a lot more interesting and gave rise to new builds, specially new ways of thinking on how to build him.
Tips and tricks
Q - Rupture
1. Enemies like moving a lot. Lane bullies are more likely to move forward towards you. Try to aim in the direction they move in rather than where they are.
2. Any form of CC drastically improves your hit rate for Q. (That's why I love neeko)
3. I typically rawdog Q on enemies, but E's slow is very helpful if they're on top of you. W is also plenty handy on silencing 10000000 dashes. (Not like it matters much since boots already drastically reduce the likelihood of hitting it)
4. When ahead: Try to aim for Ranged minions first. Then target Melee minions second. Ranged minions have less health.
5. When behind: Wait for melee minions to lose hp from your wave before hitting them with the ability.
W - Feral Scream
1. I like to only get this at level 4 or 5. It's a very mana hungry ability and does less damage than maxing Q early, which is fundamental for wave clear.
2. Try to aim to silence ultimates. I.e katarina ult, makes her useless for 2 seconds and allows your team to blow her up.
3. Very useful against dash champions to set-up your combos. Only problem is that it requires you to be close to the target, which is typically very deadly against them.
E - Vorpal Spikes
1. Use this on the middle melee minion to be able to hit the entire wave.
2. Abuse the hell out of this ability by maxing it with HoB. It's better to wait for HoB cooldown to go off before starting your next vorpal spikes.
3. The slow is extremely useful for landing your abilities. Just be mindful that the gap which you need to predict enemy movement is drastically lowered obviously.
R - Feast
1. Eat ONCE before grubs. (Most likely to get 2nd ult 10-20 seconds or 10 after they spawn worst case scenario.)
2. As a jungler you want to use smite before this ability for obvious reasons.
3. Try to use it on a minion before recalling. But don't let this 1 stack ruin your wave state.
P - Carnivore
1. Combining this with vorpal spikes on grubs gives a healthy boost in hp and mana. Even if you don't have ult up and your wave is down, try to quickly go over to grubs, force them to spawn voidlings and then enjoy your bucket of nuggies. (grubs spawn 12 of them total. 336 health (300ish because of them hitting) and 72 mana. (42 with vorpal spikes)
2. If you go fimbulwinter build, this actually gets enhanced by both spirit visage and Immortal Path if you are low and can't recall.
Be mindful of this
1. Cho'Gath is a very, very clunky character. Try to use Q when you are already looking at people, a mouse click and S to stop. Otherwise he will spend a bit of time turning towards that point before actually using his ability. (even 50ms can make or break a game as it builds up overtime.)
2. People have a misconception of Cho. They automatically assume he is a tank just because he has health gain. Remind people that cho has 100% AP Scaling.
3. 100 ap gives 50 damage to ult. 900 health gives 90 damage to ult.
But don't misjudge this. AP gives 100% ratio to Q, 70% to W. Which more than makes up the damage discrepancy. It's typically best to get AP first before you get more Health.
4. Your CC is very, very valuable. It's better to survive and spam CC than it is to tank for your team, unironically. Unless you are of course, protecting your carry. Cho without armor dies if he gets sneezed on unless you're fed.
5. He is a feast or famine character. Prioritize: Survival > Kill
If you are behind even a bit, you will struggle ALOT.
S.Dark Star is amazing because it has the only form of evolution and shape changes.
I love the huge cathedral on Broken covenant, the chains and hands are also amazing.
The only problem is the beard's lack of bones and fluidity. Best when big.
A.
Toy Terror is amazing but I don't really like the toy theme.
Shang Hai could've been better by making it feel more mountainous.
Petricite skin is literally missing the gold accents from the splash art.
B.
Best of B tier is battlecast. Amazing animations and quality. Don't like that there is no arms on the top.
Blue Cho is cool... i like the neon on him.. but that's about it.
Overrated british skin. Hilarious and comedic but it's ok.
I contemplated putting Prehistoric lower but I like the dinosaur theme.
C.
Cho himself is cool, but not really special. Doesn't change appearance, clunky animations, etc.
D.
These just look comically bad...
