My name is EditGames and this is a partially serious , but more light hearted guide , for playing everyones favourite pirate in the support lane.

This guide is based on my love for playing support , but are left feeling weak at points in the game and that all you can do is turn tail. I say kick the curb and hold your ground! Raise morale of your allies with you /Jokes and become the poke master!

I must note that I am neither Ranked , That great of a player , this is my first guide and it isn't the most serious guide in the world , So please understand if it isn't the ... best in the world.

The runes I use are standard for pokey Supports - Armour for early survival , AD for early pokes , Health for ... early health and Scaling MR for later on when your biggest enemy is Magic users.

If you're dual queuing or have faith in your lane partner , A 0/21/9 build is also really good on Gangplank!

Flash is a must. Only escape GP has and that's the only time I believe it should be used on him ... Unless you believe that you can do the #BigPlayz using Flash to initiate a fight , then go ahead!.

Now , This I chose Heal between Heal and Exhaust. I don't think any other Skills are required for Supports so ... Which do you prefer more ? I personally take heal so I can keep Mana up and Oranges off cooldown and I get to heal the ADC a little bit. You have an Inbuilt slow which is nice , but Exhaust can really help on those early kills.

As support Gangplank , your Goal is to have the enemy hitting you instead of the ADC , while poking them. Gankplank is tanky in the early game and has a nice True damage / Slow poke. It's all about trading.

Basically, He can be as passive and aggressive as you need him to be!
You take Q first so you can poke your enemy whenever the chance allows itself, When whenever the ADC wants (Or you) , Q > Raise Morale > Chargggge !. This both slows the enemy and allows for your ADC to start catching up on them , allowing them to get some easy hits in. This can be great for both more aggressive pokes or full engagements.

Warding is almost your main priority, Aside from protecting the ADC. You always want Dragon Purple warded and as many wards dotted at important locations as possible. Blue , Red , Dragon and most importantly , your lane , are all spots you should consider and help out with. You Jungler will love you for protecting their buffs (And helping them get an easy kill if possible!).

Later on , you turn more Tanky and damaging , allowing you to be the initiator and basically , Very hard to kill along with making Gangplank a great roamer with the passive bonus from 'Raise Morale'. Damaging, Pokey, Unkillable and Supporting is a nasty combo and that's what the Malestrom of Piracy becomes as your job becomes less of 'Protect the ADC' and 'Protect everyone'. Lead fights and apply slows whenever possible and play the captain - Your job is to stop the rest of your team getting hurt while trying to do as much damage as possible.

And last and not least , Raise morale in game. Praising people for good plays and helping even if it goes sour really helps people get along in games and makes both the game more enjoyable and everyone plays better. Be a nice person , Be a nasty pirate and be respectful.
This is your most important weapon - This will win you games! (As Cheesy as it sounds!)

Your Ulti is ... Pretty amazing. I love having the AOE slow available whenever I want. Someone needs help at Dragon? Ulti. Someones getting ganked or needs help catching someone to gank? Ulti. Need to scare your enemy or pick off a runner? Ulti!

It is not , however , your chance to pick off some easy kills at the duress of someone else. You are support. You are Gangplank. You should be earning millions just by standing around your ADC and looking cool and not by stealing.

Pirates don't steal! Wait a second ...

Tips and Tricks to keep in mind (Or the TL:DR Version)

• Q for poking , W for Escapes , E for engaging , Ulti for AOE slow , No so much for damage.
• Q applies bonuses from Sheen and Frozen Mallet.
• W should be saved for escaping and can be leveled early in difficult CC heavy lanes , But only put one point into it unless you want more slows.
• E is for engagements, Use it often to help ganks and pushing lanes. It can also be used just to scare your opponent away into thinking you're going to push.
• R comes off cooldown around 2 minutes , Minus cooldown items. Keep this is mind when using it.
• Mix and match this guide and find what you like - Experiment!
• Help out as many people as possible - Communication is key.
• Be respectful to both your team and your opponent - Raise morale in Chat and in Game while helping wherever possible!
• Most importantly - HAVE FUN!
