Warwick

Hello Summoner, my name is Tryonex, im currently in Gold 3 and this is my Jungler Warwick Guide. I hope you like my Guide, if you have some ideas how to improve this guide please leave a comment! And now i wish you a lot of fun with this guide and i hope it will help you a lot!!!

Warwick as a Champion is very good after the last changes of Skirmisher's Sabre - Devourer which let you trigger your onhit effects twice when you have a sated Skirmisher's Sabre - Devourer. This let his winrate rise to about 54% which makes him to one of the best champions at the moment to play in ranked.

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ easy to play
+ ~54% global winrate
+ high sustain - good for jungling
+ high onhit-damage and good cc with your ulti
+ good at chasing low hp enemies with Blood Scent
+ Team Attackspeed Enhancement with Hunters Call
+ low price(450 IP)
+ strong in teamfights and strong mid- and lategame ganks
+ good in 1v1-Fights
+ good at focussing single enemies in teamfights

Cons

- not good against many enemies
- weak in early game, vulnerable for invades and counterjungling
- low mana - abilities need much mana
- dependent on sated devourer or early Wit's End
- ugly ingame model ;)

Runes

Your Runes consist of Attackdamage and Attackspeed for increased Combatstats, more onhit-effect-triggering and better jungle sustain. You take some armor Seals and magic resist Glyphs to give you some resists and to better your jungle sustain.

Runes

Precision
Press the Attack
Lethal Tempo
Fleet Footwork
Dark Harvest

Masteries

You generally take the AD-Masteries on Warwick that give you Attack SPeed( Fury ), and Attack Damage( Brute Force , Martial Mastery and Warlord ). Additionally take 2 of 4 Points in Cooldown Reduction( Sorcery) and the Masteries Devastating Strike and Havoc for mre damage. To make more damage when Blod Scent activated itself, take Executioner .
For Jungle Sustain take Butcher , Tough Skin and Bladed Armor . Don't take Feast, because you will see that you don't kill many monsters and so it's not worth it.
To get more HP and sustain, get Recovery , Veteran Scars and Juggernaut .

Items

In this Chapter i will explain why Warwick needs these items:
> >

Skirmisher's Sabre - Devourer

This item is what makes Warwick so strong at the moment, because of its double onhit-effects: It let's you deal more damage from your passive and increases the damage of Blade of the Ruined King and Wit's End. This item is the only reason why you are going for an onhit-Build. We take the Skirmisher's SMite Enchantment, because when we ult, we want to deal more damage and the ulti triggers the Skirmishers onhit-effects aswell. in normal 1v1-Fights it gives us more damage and decreases the enemies damage by 20% - this is almost like a little Exhaust.

Wit's End

Wit's End is an item that lets you make 42 additional magic damage with every hit - with a sated Skirmisher's Sabre - Devourer that are even 84. This also works with Warwicks Ulti. It additionally increasess your attack speed and your magic resist and steals 5 magic resist with every hit, up to 25, which increases your Spell Damage and the damage of Eternal Thirst.

> >

Blade of the Ruined King

This item increases your Combat stats extremely, but due to your onhit-build it is weak until its completed, but has a good powerspike then. The active is giving you more Sticking Power, means you stick better at your enemy, because you are stealing him movement speed for a short duration of time.

>

Mercury's Treads

This item is useful against heavy AP teams and heavy CC teams.

Spirit Visage

Spirit Visage is useful against magic damage because of its magic resist, but also makes you tankier, increases your selfhealing effects and giving you some cooldown reduction which is very useful for Warwicks kit.

Frozen Heart

Frozen Heart is very useful on Warwick because it gives you much Armor and Cooldown Reduction. The passive is also useful because it decreases near enemies' Attack Speed and is useful against ADCs. The Cooldown Reduction is so important, because you really need your ult on Cooldown and with this item you are more useful because youc an gank more often.

Randuin's Omen

Randuin's Omen is another item making you more tanky: it increases Health and Armor and it slows down the attacker's Attack Speed and his Movement Speedwith the active ability.
You usually don't build it as Core item, because you favor Frozen Heart.

Banshee's Veil

Banshee's Veil is another item which increases Health and magic resist. This item is useful against Heavy AP Enemies, because of its Spellshield. After taking damage you also have an increased Health Regeneration. This item isn't in your core build, because you usually don't need that much magic resistance.

Thornmail

Thornmail is an item you need against a heavy AD Carry, because you get 100 Armor and it reflects damage from basic attacks to the attacker - so you are better prepared against heavy ADCs.

Abilities / How to use them

Warwick's Passive Ability

Eternal Thirst
Warwick steals life with every attack(so he heals himself with the amount of the by Eternal Thirst made damage). The amount of life being stolen has a cumulative effect and increases to the threefold. With sated Skirmisher's Sabre - Devourer this amount gets doubled.

Warwick's active Abilities

1. Hungering Strike(Q):
  • steals life from an enemy Champion or monster, dealing the higher value of a flat or life percentual value as damage, but is scaling with AP
  • usage after ult, for better clear, in fights and to heal yourself

2. Hunters Call (W):
increases your attack speed and the attack speed of your teammates around you for half of that amount. This spell is very effective because you can get more Basic Attacks off and trigger more onhit-effects.
Good at:
  • Towers:

attacking towers (alone and with team members)
  • Jungle:

attacking jungle monsters(because of the low mana price)
  • Baron/Dragon:

attacking Baron Nashor or the Dragon with your teammates to kill him faster(Hint:
  • Teamfights:

In a teamfight youre team gets more attack speed which is very usefull for the ADC as well as for other AD Champs(like Assassins and Bruisers)

3. Blood Scent (E):
senses an enemy in a large range with less than 50% hp and makes Warwick move much faster, but you should mention these point:
  • sometimes, if you go to a lane you want to support, it is better if you first activate this spell, when you are really chasing an enemy, doing that before just tells the enemy that you are going to gank and the surprise effect is gone
  • when an enemy falls below 50% of Health when they do baron or drake it reveals them so that it is almost impossible for the enemy to do a sneaky Baron

4. Infinite Duress (R):
jumps a little distance onto an enemy, surpresses him and deals much damage while your lifesteal is increased, triggering 5 onhit-effets(this amount isn't doubled if you have a sated Devourer. You should keep in mind:
  • Focus:

focus the carries(mostly the ADC) and not the tanks
  • Teamplay:

more effective when you have teammates that support you in killing the enemy, because as Bruiser Warwick you don't deal that much damage but it is usefull because of the hard CC of [[Infinite Duress]

Firts we need keep our Health constant while jungling by leveling up Hungering Strike and Hunters Call(but Hungering Strike is more important - more about jungling see chapter below). You should level up Blood Scent at level 3 - you can't chase enemies very good before leveling that. Level up your ulti as soon as possible, that means at the levels 6, 11 and 16. Level up Blood Scent at the end.

Jungling

But how do i jungle now?

Yes that's a good Question. When you mention the following points, you will be a great Jungler:
  • start doing Gromp or with the Krugs( Ancient Krug & Krug ) - continue doing your first Buff and continue either with your next jungle camp or with the Rift Scuttler in front of dragon or baron pitt
  • Use Hunters Call every time you jungle, because it has low mana costs
  • Important: Warwick Try to make use of your Red Buff for early ganks, otherwise just farm and try to get you sated Devourer
  • When being level 6 your ganks get much easier with your ult - the best is if you ping your ally to go in - if you are ulting you can also smite your target to deal even more damage
  • When ganking botlane, try to focus the ADC
  • If you are stacking your Devourer keep in mind that a dragon gives you +5 stacks and a Rift Scuttler + 2 - keep that in mind and get as many dragons as possible
  • You can buy a Vision Ward to ward dragon pitt to deny the enemy team vision while you are doing drake

General Gameplay

Warwick is a Jungler who is better at assisting in late game - you should not all in alone!!! wait for a good situation to suppress an enemy with Infinite Duress when he is on low Health to make it a safe kill or in teamfights supress one of their Carries.
When Blood Scent makes you move faster you can also use this additional Speed to run away from enemies! Your Ganks are only very useful with level 6 or higher, because of your ulti - so jungle very fast at the beginning.
Only gank when the lane is pushed enough - otherwise it could result in you supressing the enemy in his turretrange, you died and the gank has failed.
Also you could try to supress an enemy when he is being attacked by your turret - he will get damage from you and from the turret resulting in a kill or he being low hp. This is more efficient in early game when the enemy has not that much Health Points.
