Introduction

This is my first guide on Mobafire. I've seen a lot of different builds on Yorick and I can say that this one provides great results. People have been saying that Yorick is underpowered and while he won't be killing champions with ease by himself early game, he'll definitely be putting out some serious damage while still being able to take quite a bit of hits late game.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
- Pretty good sized aoe slow that follows your enemies.
- E Ability gives life steal and can be leveled up over omen of pestilence to give a powerful lane presence.
- Very high damage output late game, with your Q ability dealing a lot of damage with Sheen/Trinity Force.
- Not very squishy.
- Ultimate can be game-changing.
- Can use W ability to check bushes.
- Uses a shovel to smack on enemies, coolness factor is second to Jax and his lamppost.

Cons:
- Early game sucks for Yorick.
- Movement speed is slow until you get boots and zeal.
- Ghost A.I. is bugged and aren't very reliable.
- Very mana dependent

Runes

Greater Mark of Desolation Greater Mark of Desolation x 9
Greater Seal of Clarity x 9
Greater Glyph of Celerity x 9
OR
Greater Glyph of Focus x 9

Greater Quintessence of Fortitude x 2
Greater Quintessence of Swiftness x 1
For quintessences I prefer to grab a mix of flat HP and movement speed, however you can use all ArP quintessences if preferred.

Masteries

Mastery build is the basic dps 21/0/9 build picking up points in exhaust and ghost.

Items

CORE ITEMS

First off Yorick is relatively squishy early game and doesn't output a lot of damage to be a real threat. So we start with a .
Yorick has terrible issues with mana, and in order to damage you must spam your abilities to get ghouls into action in order to make full use of Yorick's awesome passive. Therefore the next item to get is a .
Next up your movement speed with .
Upgrade into a .
Now for your boots, you can either get the CDR boots or you can get Merc Treads if the other team has a lot of CC .
At this point your damage output is rising and what better way to compliment your extra AD from manamune than to get a Sheen to make your Q ability hit like a truck? Buy a and further upgrade it into .
Now I choose to buy with to make you even more bulkier, and for your last item, for even more survivability.

These items are not set for every game, but the core item build will work out practically every game. Adjust what you buy based on the other team's build.

Summoner Spells

and
The reason I get Exhaust is to ensure that the champion you're about to kill isn't about to get away due to your ghoul dying early or just not going to the right champion. Exhaust, combined with Ghost, and your Q and W abilities will guarantee you the ability to stay within melee range and give you a kill.

Early game clarity may be useful but after getting tear of the goddess you should really not have any mana issues at all.

Flash may be a good alternative for ghost.

Skill Sequence

Focus on maxing out your Q ability first, and depending on how you're doing in your lane, max out your W ability second if you can easily harass your opponents or your E ability to help you stay in the lane longer. Of course level up your ultimate at 6, 11, and 16.

Abilities

Unholy Covenant (Passive): Yorick’s attacks deal more damage for each summon that is active. Meanwhile, Yorick’s ghouls deal some percent of Yorick’s Attack Damage and have some percent of his total health.
This is part of what will make your damage output so high mid-late game, when spamming your ghouls, each ghouls, including the revenant that your ultimate gives, your attacks deal extra damage based on how many are up.

Omen of War: Yorick’s next attack will deal bonus physical damage and summon a Spectral Ghoul that deals additional damage and moves faster than Yorick’s other ghouls. While the Spectral Ghoul is alive, Yorick moves faster as well.
Your hardest hitting ability that also gives you a huge boost in movement speed while your ghoul is up. This is what your main burst damage comes from and can deal a ton of damage late game all the while being on a low CD and only costing 40 mana.

Omen of Pestilence: Yorick summons a Decaying Ghoul that arrives with a violent explosion, dealing damage and slowing nearby enemies. While the Decaying Ghoul remains alive, nearby enemies continue to be slowed.
An AOE Explosion slow, the ghoul follows your target and continually slows them, allowing you whale on them longer or even to escape, just place it in front of your pursuers and it'll run right into them slowing them. You can also use this ability to check bushes.

Omen of Famine: Yorick steals life from his target and summons a Ravenous Ghoul that heals Yorick for the damage it deals.
Your lifesteal ability, allows you to stay in lane longer and also a way to harass enemy champions.

Omen of Death(Ultimate): Yorick conjures a revenant in the image of one of his allies. If his ally dies while its revenant is alive, the revenant sacrifices itself to reanimate them and give them time to enact vengeance.
Your ultimate, a kick-*** one at that. Use on your AD carry and watch them rip enemies to shreds. Better yet, if your AD carry is about to die, cast it on them, and when they die, they come back temporarily with all their abilities and can practically win team fights. You can also use it on yourself if you know you're going to die and want to exact revenge on your opponent. Or to give you that extra killing power when going in for a gank.
Your ultimate has a lot of uses and you have to learn when the best time is to use it. Don't get caught up in the team fight and make sure you cast it on the right person.

Farming

Farming isn't too bad for Yorick. If you're able to get into melee range of minions without being beat on by enemy champions then last hit with your Q ability. If you have super aggressive champions in your lane like Garen or Caitlyn. Then level up your W or E abilities and last hit with those.

Remember to farm non stop and to last hit minions as much as possible. You want to get to trinity force as soon as you can.

Gameplay

From levels 1-6, you have to play it safe, you don't hit hard and you must focus on last hitting minions. Use Omen of Pestilence to help you last hit abilities along with your Q ability.

From levels 7-13, you can begin to venture to other lanes and to lend a helping hand. Depending on how much you have farmed you may have completed your manamune and have a sheen by now, and your damage output is becoming quite high.

From levels 14-18 is when you begin to really shine. You can take hits and deal a ton of damage with your trusty shovel and ghouls. Spam your abilities and pop your ult on an AD carry, especially right before they die. You generally want to start off with your W ability, followed by E ability and then use your Q ability. The more ghouls that are up before you hit your Q, the more damage you will deal with it.

Summary

Again this is my first guide here on Mobafire. I may have skipped over some details and am open to new ideas and criticism.
Remember to always pop your ult on your AD carry, especially so if they're about to die. This can easily win the team fight for you and lead you to a victory.
