That's not the point. Matt wants MOBAfire to be a community where everybody is equal and is not run by an elitist system where only pro players or high rating players can write guides, unlike Solomid.
It would be nice if mobafire was taken seriously rather than used as a punchline in a pro streamer's jokes. Guides can be written by everyone and voted on by everyone doesn't mean that every guide is good. There are plenty of **** guides on mobafire take a look they're probably sitting at the top. Why? Because we havent institured a system that can properly discern "absolute ****" from "decent" and "pro level" builds/guides. Ffs, i want mobafire to be seen as "an open place" but not at the expense of the sites credibility...do i want this place to be elitest? No, i dont, but i do want this place to have guides that are actually good sitting in top 10s slots rather than some random *** guide that says "nashor's tooth is great on karthas". Cant have absolute "freedom" for guide writers if the result is what is causing the problems.
cudd your idea isnt very good...having a "normal" and "approved" section would be pretty pointless cuz if you had to choose which guide would you read? the normal one or the approved one? thats right the approved one
why take the ratings and everything off the approved guides? what if we have 8 approved guides for x champion? how will we know which one is the best to use out of the 8 and which is the worst? it will only confuse newer plays thinking that the prettiest guide is the bestest guide or the one with the most creative name is the best guide
the last sentence you said "But the main point is to not have someone say o look this is the best approved guide ill just use this and disregard everything else." EVERYONE would disregard the "normal" guides and the other less pretty approved guides

"Approved guides" are too much work. That's what Scouting is meant to be, without having to go through every single submitted guide that wants to be approved. There's discussion in the Scout forums of rehauling the scout system, so hopefully that'll be addressed by Matt when they have more time.

Wait polse, are you suggesting an improvement to the quality of featured guides or their presentation on the front page?
I'm suggesting both:
IMO. when you search for a champion the featured guide/guides for the champion should show up regardless of what topic you search under, since it will be the guide that is 100% viable.
Then all the general featured guides go under the General strategy - guide forum.
Mobafire also need a serious overhaul on the quality of the guides and we need to only have 1 featured guide for each way of playing a champion(Top, jungle, mid, support, ad). A great example is duff's trynda and your tryndamere resource, one of them should be removed from the featured guide section(i don't play trynda enough to know which). A more obvious one would be riven where roses riven guide es numero uno where the other featured riven guide is just meeh.
The process of this should be done by someone who knows what they're doing.
We all know that mrcuddowls understanding of the game is "at times" underwhelming and his understanding of his understanding of the game is greatly overestimated. That is not what this thread is about though, please do stop the derailing - this is not Off-Topic.

Polse: Currently there is no way to remove guides that are just "refreshing" themselves. You can report it, but it had to be reported numerous times before something is done. In the case of ALL Duff's guides, where he explicitly states he will never update them again... dunno. Personally, I'd take down my guides if I was never going to update them again, but other people won't do that.

You seem to have misunderstood me. I have no problem with guides "continiously refreshing" themselves. Because the info in the good guys is still valid.
And matt is able to remove guides as he wishes.
Mobafire needs some sort of task force, call them "featured guide task force" that quickly found 1 good guide of each champ, marked them "featured" and then we would have a proper segment of featured guides, available at the top of all searches.

You need to log in before commenting.
One will have people are under equal rules
Everyone can make a guide and anyone can get to the first on the list
Then make another section with approved guides
Now the section of approved guides won't be made up of people hired (i decided that wasn't as good as this)
The section of approved guides would be guides that were moved from the Normal area to the Approved area. Someone would review guides that have a minimum number of votes/views/comments/rating and would decide if that guide would be eligible for the approved section. This way everyone will still be on fair ground and will find that if they do make a good guide, that they will see it go on top and be moved to the approved section.
Now to specify what the approved section would be...
View counter would be disabled
Ratings would be disabled
Voting is disabled
All the guides would appear as just their name
Nothing coming after them. What this will do is not make a person immediately go to the top guide in the approved section. They would be forced to maybe look around find one with a cool name, or maybe take a peek at each one inspect the cheat sheet, maybe the aesthetics i don't know. But the main point is to not have someone say o look this is the best approved guide ill just use this and disregard everything else.
