After gathering some data with the new "Patch" sorting method, we've decided to go forward with the new guest vote scores. We've now enabled ranking by guest score site-wide. It's implemented as we explained - we calculate your old "members vote" score exactly as we used to, and then separately from that we calculate a new "guests + members vote" score, and we pick the highest of the two for each guide. So many guides will have just seen an increase in their score, and nobody should see a decrease since you will get the better of the two scores. You will also see a sudden increase in vote counts, that is due to the guest votes.

It feels like scores are massively inflated, pretty much every guide seems to have a 100% rating right now. So I tried to log out and downvote a few guides and uh... All my attempts at downvoting are actually upvoting. I tried on both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer and both browsers seem to be incapable of letting me downvote anything. I click the downvote button and go through the Capcha, and once I finish the captcha I get this. I thought it might just be a visual bug but I tested it on a low rating low votes guide and the rating definitely went up when I tried to downvote it.
I asked @ Vicious Skittle to try logged out downvoting a guide and he too could only upvote guides even while pressing the downvote button.

So what will happen to the "accidental upvotes"? I guess there's no way to tell the intent of the voter, so unless all votes are removed, none can be? Hmmm......

We've discussed it and we decided to wipe all guest votes prior to today to get a fresh start. This doesn't affect member votes or your member score, this is purely the new guest scores.
We were considering wiping guest votes yesterday when we put guest score ranking up so everyone would be starting from the same place, and because of the recent changes to sort by patch, but we decided to wait and see how the launch went. There were some issues with the launch though and that settled it.
We've deleted the guest votes prior to today when we put some fixes up and we're currently running a script to refresh everyone's vote counts and scores, so you'll see things jumping around a bit over the next hour or two while it's all updated.
