Runes: Atk Dmg, Arm, sMR, Mv Spd Quints
Masteries: 21-9-0

Summary:

Maokai and I made Rengar cry. Early game we converted a kill on him. And Maokai solo killed him at least once after that. Mid game, we caught him pushing the Bot lane outer turret and killed him. Then we tag teamed Blitzcrank and Zac for who came in to try and clean us up. By that time Rengar had respawned and ran back into lane and we tag teamed him with the help of the turret to kill him again.

Went Movement Speed Quints on Skar Skar this time around. Definitely slows down his clear speed, but helps getting around the map faster and in position to stage people. Ve shall see if I continue to prefer them over Atk Spd quints.

Back in S4. :)

Runes: 8 Atk Dmg + 1 Crit , Arm, 6MR + 3 Atk Spd, 2 Atk Spd + 1 Atk Dmg
Masteries: 21-9-0

Summary:

Ugh, this game was frustrating. Our Lee Sin was an idiot. Early game he tried to counter jungle Gragas and was slugging it out with the fat man near the Red side Krugs. Their bot lane reacted and we tried to ping Lee off, but no luck. He died. And some point Gragas ganks our lane, but we are able to peel off with relative ease. Lee who was farming Gromp at the time runs to our lane way late and then basically steals an entire wave of farm from me. Like WTF?! You are welcome to tax if you get me a kill or an assist, but keep your mits off my farm if you haven't done ****. He did that all game. Run in and nuke a wave I was farming, so I maybe get one minion out of it. Okay, so apparently I don't need the farm, I guess.

My Thresh....if I was running Graves he and I might have got along, but since I was running Tear of the Goddess Ezreal it didn't matter all that much if he managed to land a hook. I could get a Q + a couple autos off on whoever he reeled in, but Soraka would just heal it up and Thresh would get chunked. Once Soraka ran out of mana we did manage to get them pretty low and force them under tower. Lee shows up and that moment and runs in from tribush to dive the low Jinx. He kills Jinx but not before she gets her flame chompers down, so Lee dies too. Thank you for feeding my lane opponents a second kill Lee.

Mid late game Thresh and Lee Sin were going in on the stupidest engages. Renekton would try to follow up, but Thresh would be dead by that point and Lee would either be dead or so chunked he would have to back out leaving our Croc high and dry.

I was at a loss as to how to pull things together with those two going ham all over the map. We had a good pick comp, with decent team fighting, assuming I could line up an Arcane Barrage to chunk them at the start of the fight, but we never really tried doing that.

I've been going Blade of the Ruined King first on Ezreal and just letting my Tear stack, but I think I might just go back to building Manamune and then Trinity Force and following up with Blade of the Ruined King or Last Whisper depending on what I need as occasionally I get stuck without enough gold to finishing Manamune which is awkward as Tear doesn't offer any combat stats other than mana for abilities. Some games you just can't count on being able to farm.

Runes: Atk Spd, Arm, CDR, AP Quints
Masteries: 21-9-0

Summary:

This was a bit of a nail biter with things going pretty even most of the game. Eventually we were strong enough that we could group as four to try and take objects or give the other team the run around well enough that Tryndamere was able to do what Tryn does, split push. The main thing that saved our early game was good warding along the river. We were able to spot out quite a few ganks that likely prevented some deaths.

I went a more tanky build so I could stay up front and slow and trap people with less fear than I might have about getting hooked.

One stupid death when I went on a low health Darius and killed him, only to find that the rest of his teammates were in that bush.

I spent a lot of time responding to ganks in my vicinity so my farm isn’t were I would have liked it to have been.

Runes: Atk Dmg, Arm, 6CDR + 3MR, Atk Spd
Masteries: 21-9-0

Summary:

Top and Bot were pushed up most of the early laning phase so I just kept the river warded and focused on Mid though I really wanted to gank Nasus to interrupt his farming. For mid I simply hovered around and waited for Katarina to jump on Lux we were able to kill her two or three times that way.

I still need to work on tunneling deliberately during team fights. Too much button mashing.

Nasus got fairly fed because Cho'Gath was so pushed up that he made for easy ganks. Even after he took the Top outer tower he was split pushing without wards so he died a couple of more times.

I felt squishy despite having Enchantment: Cinderhulk and Black Cleaver when Nasus showed up for fights as that SOB would chunk me quite quickly. Their team comp started to work out with Nasus half healthing everyone allowing Jinx rockets and Katarina to do clean-up. Fortunately we kept it together well enough that we were able to pull through to victory.

Argh, 3 LP lost because I got dumped from PVP.net during champion select. That is frustrating. Though given the fact that my team was all AD besides Malphite perhaps it was a blessing in disguise.

Not sure what is up with getting disconnected from chat. That almost never happens to me. Going to try and run through a normal game to see if that works.

Indeed. Generally my internet connection is pretty stable with really good ping since they moved the server to Chicago (19-22ms). I played 2 normals after that and in the 1st I was still having the disconnect issues though I made it through champion select and never entierly got dumped from the game. In the 2nd game I didn't have any issue at all. But by that time it was too late to get into a ranked game. Perhaps this evening, though I may test things out via normals first.

I've noticed some significant lagginess in the client (store taking forever to load and it taking a long time to scroll through the store, taking a while to close the store and go back to the client) since they patched to 5.20, but I've been able to play with no issues, at least until last night.

Runes: Atk Dmg, Arm, sMR, MS Quints
Masteries:0-30-0

Summary:

Gangplank tells me he doesn’t care about ganks, just ward his lane. Ok. I ward his lane. He yells at me for not ganking after I ganked his lane at least once with Vladimir in tow.

Kindred - don’t mess with her early game without help. She has the tools to mess you up. However, late game she is slow and squishy, so murder after Lamb's Respite ends. Also don’t be that Kindred. You know the one that goes deep in the enemy jungle to try and stack their marks without backup/a good escape plan. That will get you killed by anyone that is warding.

Like the MS Quints on Skarner, may try Atk Spd Marks though as your early clear is rather sluggish compared to running all Atk Spd Marks and Quints. I also really like Dead Man's Plate on Skar Skar. Makes you zip along at a really nice clip and provides a good pop of damage with your first auto after you catch someone.

Champion Pool

If I had to pick a champion right now and be confident that I have a chance to win on them in ranked this is the list I come up with.

ADC - Tristana, Corki, Ezreal
Mid - Kassadin, Morgana
Jungle - Elise and Rek'Sai
Top - Dr. Mundo
Support - Morgana, Thresh

Let's look at some stats

https://na.op.gg/summoner/champions/userName=vexroth

Tristana - 13 ranked games played - 54% win rate
Corki - 3 ranked games played - 33% win rate (thoughts on Corki below)
Ezreal - 5 ranked games played - 60% win rate
Kassadin - 4 ranked games played - 0% win win rate (bye bye Kassadin...well unless the buffs on the PBE come through)
Elise - 2 ranked game played - 50% win rate (not enough data)
Rek'Sai - 5 ranked games played - 60% win rate
Dr. Mundo - 0 ranked games played - 0% win rate (just picked him up after his buffs)
Morgana - 18 ranked games played - 67% win rate (1 game was as mid vs a Leblanc)

Other significant win rates

Sion - 7 ranked games played - 86% win rate
Skarner - 8 ranked games played - 75% win rate (I continue to win on him post nerfs though his early game isn't as good)
Zac - 6 ranked games played - 67% win rate
Braum - 13 ranked games played - 62% win rate

Take away.

ADC - I perform better on Ezreal, Tristana, than I have some far with Corike
Mid - I don't have a mid champion pool that I'm comfortable with in ranked therefore my mid pool will be simple champions

I elect Morgana and Annie. Morgana because I also play her as support and Annie, because Annie, and she stomps on Yasuo who I hate, and I can flex pick Annie as a support if I feel like it is appropriate.

Jungle - Skarner is still banned sometimes, so along with him I will include Zac and Rek'Sai and tentatively Elise.

Top - Dr. Mundo (I just have too much playing him), Sion because apparently I do well with him.
Support - Morgana, Braum

Braum is interesting as I feel like he is either hit or miss, but my win rate with him says otherwise.

I'm going to do some research on Braum to get a better understanding of the Beefcake of the North. I'll follow up with what I've learned on my blog here at Mobafire.

So my updated and narrowed champion pool will look like this

ADC - Tristana, Ezreal
Mid - Morgana, Annie
Jungle - Skarner, Rek'Sai, Zac, Elise
Top - Dr. Mundo, Sion
Support - Morgana, Braum, Annie

Notes: I want to include Corki on my list of ADCs. He is my go to pick when my team decides to go all AD and I do like playing him. However, my ranked win rate with him isn't that great. I think that is because soloqueue teams don't play to his strengths, which is get Trinity Force start taking towers and other objects while Corki is at peak strength.

I'm making my jungler pool deeper than my laner pools because I'm targeting that as my main role.

I'm including Elise ande Rek'Sai because of their power and because they are on the list of champions that I've decided I want to be capable of playing well and I already have some facility with them.

I feel you on Corki. I have stopped playing him as much (pretty much at all :[ ) since them juggies came around. You really just need to make sure your mid is something that can scale better than you late. Good job hitting S4 and good luck moving up :)
