Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 8.7!

This patch includes the highly anticipated Irelia update as well as a slew of balance changes and updates to Manaflow Band and Presence of Mind.

Updates and Balance Changes

Irelia received a major update in patch 8.7. Learn more about the Blade Dancer below:




Item Changes

Total Cost: 3000g ⇒ 3300g
Base Shield: 38 ⇒ 30
Shield Per Target's Level: 22 ⇒ 15
Bonus Health Ratio: 2-36% (at levels 1-18) ⇒ 20%
Cooldown: 90 seconds ⇒ 120 seconds
Multiple Shield Reduction Amount: 50% ⇒ 75%
Multiple Shield Reduction Duration: 8 seconds ⇒ 20 seconds
Also applies to Circlet of the Iron Solari.
Armor: 30 ⇒ 20
Basic Attack Damage Reduction: 10% ⇒ 12%
Gold Per 10: 2 ⇒ 1
Targon's Brace / Remnant of the Aspect Gold Per 10: 4 ⇒ 1
New: Aura size now increases with champion size.
Applies to Bami's Cinder, Sunfire Aegis, Forgefire Cape, Enchantment: Cinderhulk, Abyssal Mask, Infernal Mask and Turbo Chemtank's proximity check.


Rune Changes

Resolve Path Bonus: 65 Health ⇒ 15-135 (at levels 1-18)
Resolve + Inspiration: 130 Health ⇒ 30-270 health (at levels 1-18)
Inspiration + Resolve: 140 Health ⇒ 35-300 health (at levels 1-18)
Updated: Hitting enemy champions with a spell grants 25 maximum mana, up to 250 mana (Cooldown: 15 seconds). Upon earning 250 mana, Manaflow Band restores 1% of your missing mana every 5 seconds.
Updated: Enemy champion takedowns restore 20% of your maximum mana and refund 10% of your ultimate's cooldown.
Tenacity: 5% + 1.5% per stack ⇒ 5% + 2.5% per stack
Max Tenacity: 20% at 10 stacks ⇒ 30% at 10 stacks
Damage Multiplier: 4-10% (at 150-2000 max health difference) ⇒ 4-12% (at 150-2000 max health difference)
Zombie Ward Duration: 60-180 seconds (at levels 1-18) ⇒ 30 seconds at levels 1-4; 36-120 seconds at levels 5-18
Movement Speed: 10% ⇒ 15%
Bugfix: Now lists how much it gives in the description at level 1.


Other Changes

  • Minions

    • Melee minion base gold changed from 20 (+0.125 every 3 waves) to 21 gold flat.

    • Caster minion base gold changed from 17 (+0.125 every 3 waves) to 14 gold flat.

    • Siege minion base gold changed from 45 (+0.35 every 3 waves) to 60 (+3 every 3 waves).

    • Siege minion base health changed from 828 (+23 every 3 waves, +32 for waves 16 onward) to 900 (+50 every 3 waves, +60 for waves 16 onward).

    • Super minion base gold changed from 45 (+0.35 every 3 waves) to 60 (+3 every 3 waves).

  • Buffs

    • Crest of Cinders' burn effect no longer damages turrets.

  • Attack Move on Cursor

    • The "Attack Move on Cursor" setting now checks a larger area for a valid target before defaulting to attacking the closest unit to your champion.

  • Voice Chat

    • Audio notifications for when a player joins your party and voice chat now work more consistently across the client.

    • Audio notifications now play when a party member reconnects to voice.

    • In settings, you can now separate the in-game voice control panel from the scoreboard.

    • If you’re away from the client, (that’s 10 minutes without touching anything), your mic will auto-mute. Your mic sparks back up once you’re back.

  • Loot & Crafting

    • Masterwork Chest: New "cosmetics only" chests (225 RP each, 1125 RP for a bundle of 5 (plus bonus essence), or 2250 RP for a bundle of 10 (plus bonus essence) will be made available in the store.

They tried to nerf Ninja Tabi but ended up buffing them.

"Hey we noticed that everyone buys tabis on every champion so let's make them the best late game boots in the game, surely that'll fix this issue" - Rito logic.

You know, they could just actually nerf tabis and buff Boots of Swiftness or something. But nah, making sense is too mainstream.

Funniest thing : now that Legend: Tenacity is actually good, now every bruiser will go for tenacity, so they won't need merc treads anymore and will go tabis instead. Same for a lot of carries.

TABIS FOR EVERYBODY.

The tabi nerf is definitely directed at squishies (like ADCs) building it to survive assassins. It's much worse on something like Varus vs a Zed, but still good on tanks vs adcs. I think that was the intention given the compensation buff to the passive.

That's basically my point. The new tabis are weaker when the user has less than ~115 armor which basically covers mids and adcs (and that's just covering autoattacks). Dropping armor in favor of autoattack reduction inherently makes them worse against burstier champs like riven and zed which have high ability damage. Tanks and bruisers can afford to lose ~10 armor. Just makes it a bit weaker in lane phase.

Going to have to figure out how to play around the updated Irelia but my first impression is "Rito why you think giving a champion a potentially multi-champion stun that they can place where they like is a good idea?"

Also I don't understand the direction they are trying to take Lux. Her ult is already one of her most frustrating abilities to play around because the hit box is ******ed and it has such a long range.

Gragas jungle still feels bad. AP ratio increases aren't going to help that. His cool downs are so obnoxiously long in the early game that he can't deal with any jungler that invades him, because most of his damage is tied up in Q and full damage from that is conditional and a skill shot.

Hecarim is also going to need more love. You pretty much have to go Aftershock to survive engaging. IMO The ghost pony needs a little love in the base damages department so you can clear a little faster and more healthily so that you actually have a chance of getting the point where you can carry.
