@Doc - Final post, I've gtg to bed after this ><!
I'm glad to see your first game was without trolls! Again, there are always going to be those good games where it's just a normal, real game. However, it's gotten to the point where I've played with so many trolls, it's not worth the gamble of queueing in a normal and waiting for... Is this gonna be a real game?
-Regarding your question in paragraph two, I used to think elo meant everything. In a way, it is, but it isn't. Elo to me can always be changed. It's been proven! However, elo is a number that shows what your current skill level is at the moment. Like you said, you win some, you lose some. I'm not saying you become worse of a player if you just caught a bad streak, lets just say that you're testing yourself to see if you can get back up to your original elo. If not, perhaps you're rusty and need some refreshing! Anyways, I just feel like the time it takes for a reader to read a full guide, the author owes it to the reader to share what skill level they are learning from, would'nt you agree?
There would be a significant loss to Solo Queue if elo was removed. If then, the last two categories with elo would be Premade 5's and Premade 3's. In those 2 categories, there are already set teams that just roll anyone that dares come into XXXX elo. Of course good teams will beat them, but most of those set teams have been playing with each other for a loooong time, while those people in Solo Queue will have to find a set group of people, learn each other's playstyles and etc.
Nope, haven't heard of it, sorry!
edit: Have you ever tried AP TF? It's reallllly OP right now!

I'd just like to @Doc: while we're saying Normals are troll games, we don't mean it as in we, personally, ourselves troll intentionally. Basically as soon as you start playing Ranked games, Normal means virtually nothing. There's no point to it. You might as well play Customs/Co-Op Vs AI.
If you're in your first 200 or so wins, you'll have people who haven't played Ranked yet, and they'll think Normal is serious.
All I'm saying is that as soon as you start to seriously play Ranked, Normal Mode isn't really a big deal any more.
^^

I see what your main overall point is but I haven't played ranked yet due to a ****py computer and internet connection, but I for sure don't find Normals ever played seriously.
Even though I haven't played ranked yet, I'm not an idiot, I've seen streams from Dyrus, HotShotGG, Elementz, The Rain Main, etc.
Standard procedure in ranked mainly
- Team Composition
- Junglers, that can actually jungle and gank while at it.
- Warding (Dragon, Baron, and key places) Usually done by jungler.
- Timing when Dragon, or Baron dies.
- Team ganks (When to initiate, or not)
- Ability to have total map awareness (Yes, without MIA's being called)
- Out-skill your opponent
- A Brain (GG)
With some of these points the majority doesn't happened in Normals at all.
- People choose any character they want
- Mainly no junglers
- Barely any wards placed (Even if their is a jungler)
- No one knows that Dragon is actually important the majority of the time
- Sometimes people don't even Baron when given a chance
- SLOW REACTION TO PINGS FORSRS..
- To scared to team fight, or even gank.
- When someone doesn't call MIA and die they blame it on you.
Normals is something that's just taken casually, but not totally "TROLLING LOLOLOL".
People play it just to play, just like a game.. But it's not taken into a do or die situation.
@Xaioli
I get what you mean too. I agree, but don't you think you are bashing Normals a little to hard?
People got to ranked from normals in the first place, and even without those streams I learned how to to all those things that happen in rank from normals. Sure their are some people who troll and just suck, but I've learned a lot from playing Normals overall.
Yup this is what I think.
@Wrath that's the point of trying ELO before is all erased, to get a feel for the ranked play.
Searz, I think you're missing a word. :P
Bryun, it's odd that you should say that Xaioli is bashing normals. You said that after you just finished what sounded like a major normal game bash. Most of your points are over-generalizations. I mean, sometimes that stuff is true and plenty of times it isn't. You just shouldn't bother trying to list reasons for why normal is good or why ranked is good. Anyone discussing them here get the basic differences.
For every positive experience I've heard about ranked I've heard equally horrific experiences about it being just as bad as normals. Just so you know.

Vulk, stop about something you know very little about..
Think I've said this like 5 times, gets ignored everytime.
@Jhoi: Afternoon/Night =) Be on tommorrow morn?
@Everyone about Normals: You get significantly more skilled when playing Ranked then when playing Normals. I've played 1400 normal games and like 200 Ranked ones. I've noticed a MASSIVE increase in my skill level since playing Ranked. If you play Ranked you're going to be better then someone who plays Normal (unless you're an absolute tard).

JHOIJHOI IS THE BESTEST PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD AND THIS SIG IS AMAZING TY <3

Quoted:
"That is why Normal games are a joke."
I said I agreed with him, and I do. But saying they are a joke is bashing. I didn't say no one knew what I was talking about, but just to make sure I stated points why I believe people are so fixated on what or how ranked or even normals are benefited from. If people already know good for them, if they don't hey look a new tip, there's nothing wrong with stating points. I admit I did go a little far in what differentiates Normals from Ranked, but I wanted to get a point across that you still learn plenty enough to still be good in Ranked by just playing Normals.
And yeah I heard, it's kinda obvious that there would still be trolls in ranked. (Or did you just say this to insult me by saying I don't know anything because I've never played a ranked.)
If you are people can learn how to play a game several different ways, not only just "playing" it, just so you know.

Oh, hehe it's 11am here now as I respond.
I think blind mode would do at least a bit more than you think. I mean, I feel like lots of people feel hopeless after tons of games against a quality Eve or a good Xin with no way to stop them (champ bans). So, in that sense at least draft mode would do wonders because people that are tired of Eve, Alistar, Xin, etc. can just ban them.
By the way, first game of the day here:
Here's another question that just came to mind again: would people care less about their Elo if it WAS NOT posted publicly in numerous places or would they care just as much? Tough call if you ask me. Most people are afraid of failure and tons of people see a low Elo as failure. I personally hate losing, but I'm not completely repulsed by losing a game; you win some you lose some (just a fact of life). I view ranked as having more on the line, but not because of Elo. I think I've just been affected by peoples' mentalities about ranked games in a reverse sorta way from what I was talking about earlier. I feel because more people take the game seriously when it's ranked that I need to care a bit more at the least.
One other thing I can't remember if I've asked before is: would there be a significant loss to solo queue if Elo was removed? To my mind, really doesn't seem like there would be.
By the way, since I'm thinking about it I wanna ask if any of you guys have tried Frozen Synapse? Amazingly cool, new strategy game. I kinda pirated it to try it and not sure if I can handle buying it. :P
