Sooo im thinking vets shouldnt be allowed to reccomend other vet guides...or if they should be allowed that the vets get a vet section for their guides. Like the pros did. That way....non vets arent competing with a green name. I know its taboo to say vets might not act as they should...but hell vet guides having tons of vet recs on principal is shady. Its like expecting a government official not to occassionally abuse their power. It just looks bad. Either way system needs a tweak.

iirc... that was the rule for the longest time. I have no idea what changed to make it as it is now.

Because vets are some of the best guide writers. Most vets became vets through their guides.

There will always be voting under a conscious or subconscious buddy system.
When it's a rec, instead of a vote, it means more.

^Very true, Duff. I once suggested that all rec's should have to be a panel vote, where 4 or more vets would have to agree on a guide for it to be rec'd. This would remove that bias you were talking about, as each rec would be aye'd or nay'd with reasons as to why or why not.
Another suggestion by Jun was that a guide should be rec'd once the community had "favourited" the guide past a certain amount, as people are more likely to favourite a guide they really like.
Yet another suggestion is that people of considerably high elo can rec guides based off build alone.
What most of the vets seem to agree for at the moment is for recs to be "remade" to ensure all of the community understand that the rec is for the guide itself, not the build.
If anyone has any constructive suggestions, I'd gladly post them in the vet forums.

Rec system could save mobafire if done right. Removing it just puts more emphasis on score, which is already broken.

Rec System is like communism though.
Good in theory, hard to pull off in practice.
