My opinion should be pretty obvious, lol....

There are a lot of ways to build him though. Generally you just get a few DPS items (usually ones with some survivability, like Phage and Wit's End) and then try to balance survivability.
Thanks to Minho for the sig!

I use the same build PsiGuard does, minus the Bloodthirster. It's the same build TheOddOne uses on him.

The Bloodthirster's a little situational, it's just nice to have some more damage and LS at the end of the build. You could easily swap it for a Maw, Atma's or GA.

You don't need mallet too early, especially if you're still taking red buff. Wit's gives you much higher DPS. Most early game kills are 90% burst anyway, so the permaslow isn't as necessary, even if you don't have red up.

Berserker's Greaves or Mercury's Treads
Wriggle's Lantern
Frozen Mallet
Wit's End
Malady
Madred's Bloodrazor
Exchangables based on situation:
Atma's Impaler (armor and more damage)
Force of Nature (general survivability)
Banshee's Veil (annoying fed burst mage)
Black Cleaver or Last Whisper if you have other OH items (enemy team building high armor)
just personal thought.
Hey, if you liked any advice i gave, be sure to +rep me! Oh, and check out my Shaco and Maokail lorecraft in my Blog! I'm a starving artist in need of attention, so please feel free to read, respond, and critique me! Please? Anybody that leaves a comment (good or bad) will receive a +rep!

Ninja Tabi also work well against teams with high physical damage and/or low CC.

I wouldn't rush Frozen Mallet. Early Phage should be sufficient for reasons stated above.

Malady is terrible on Nocturne and terrible in general. Never build it.

Madred's Bloodrazor really isn't the best option for DPS. Anyone with enough health to make it worth it will have MR to shut it down. I'm considering removing it as a situational item from my guide.

Atma's Impaler isn't core anymore imo. Randuin's Omen simply outclasses its effectiveness. You can get damage elsewhere.

Force of Nature isn't necessary. You can get a huge amount of MR without having to resort to spending your gold on a FoN, which is simply terrible on a tanky DPS like Noct. Take a look at my counter-AP build in the Alternative Builds section of my guide if you want an example.

TBC and LW are fine, though keep in mind that you don't NEED to build armor pen to be an effective offtank. Simply anti-carrying is often enough. You have an AD carry to take out tanks.

FoN isn't terrible on Noc. Tanky DPS benefit a lot from FoN.

I value Atma about the same as Randuin atm.

Agree with the rest though, Psi.

Wrig's / Phage / Hex / Aegis / HoG / Warden's mail are pretty ideal and versatile early game items for Nocturne.

Later on, the nice thing is they path very nicely into final items like Fromal, Maw, GA , Randuin's and whatnot. Well rounded, sturdy items that you don't have to wait very long to start building. These are essentially the only items I would recommend on Nocturne. Trinity Force is great too.
