pick order always trumps call order

generally though if you are not first pick and request that you would like to play a certain role, your team is usually cooperative enough (and if not, you should be flexible enough to fill when you need to)

conversely, if you're first pick and you have someone who types "mid or feed", it's better to accommodate them instead of creating discord within the team. having a cooperative captain usually increases team morale and improves performance

in solo queue i always type in "pref top/ADC, but can fill any role" once champ select starts and my games are usually pretty non-toxic

There's nothing you can do when your allies are ****s about champ select. Just don't be a **** yourself and it'll get better. As you level up. Probably. If you also win games.

Call order is only for blind picks, since there it both doesn't matter when you pick something (since you all pick at the same time and the enemy can't see your picks) and it is pretty much the only way to decide who is going where :P
That's what makes it perfect for blind pick

HOWEVER:
Some people think, because it is good for blind pick, it also should be done in draft pick, which is absolutely not the case. You can call your preference of lanes, but that doesn't mean everyone should just instalock a Heimerdinger jungle or something because someone else also prefers mid.

First pick is only for banning, reserving a champion for your team (like Shen, Hecarim, Thresh, something else strong) and/or for picking something what the enemy does not inform a lot about your team.
So basically, pick a jungler, or a support.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th pick should communicate very well with the team, asking who is best where, how we can create a strong team. Of course, just like first pick, you must not inform too much to the enemy team about your team composition. So it would be ideal, if 2nd and 3rd pick were supp, jung or adc, and that the 4th and 5th pick were top and mid.

5th pick is most of the time a victim due to peoples lack of communication in the champion select, therefor picking most of the time support, which should not happen.

Always communicate with your team, and communication =/= call order, communication = sharing of information. Information = knowledge, knowledge = power.

Power = Winning :D

Personally i'd say pick order>call order.

But when i tell you that i only am capable of jungling and supporting at a platinum level, please do not flame me when i get send top and got severely outcs'ed and give up firstblood to the enemy akali.

Blind Pick: Who gives a ****? Either lock-in asap or just wait till everone picks and fill in. The latter approach most certainly gives you the most fun. I mean, who the hell cares about what happens in blind pick?

Draft Pick: Pick order anytime. Doesn't matter who shouts the first, don't be a ****/***** and respect others.

Ranked: Declare your preferences and find out about other's. Try to create the best team here. If people prefer top or adc don't stuff them in the jungle, it's not gonna help you win.

Since it is random, it is fair and square.

Pick order is actually sorted by elo, so first pick is the best player while last pick is the worst player. For normals it's random, unless there's a premade, in which case the guy who formed the party will get first pick most of the time.

This

I try to play every role decently but if im better at something i try to communicate it to my team, thats what wins games
Gave you a good laugh or helped? rep+ so i can know ;)

Thanks to TinyStar, Jhoi, Xiaowi, Virus, Bard and Arcana(eww)...for my signatures!

Elohell is like Irelia's stun: if your real level is equal or lower than the level you are in, you're STUNNED there forever. If your actual level is higher than the level you are in, you're just SLOWED in your way up.

If only more people realize this. It doesn't help me or anyone else if people get mad just because someone higher suddenly choose a jungler then takes that role that they wanted. That's exactly what happened.

This generally doesn't happen much outside of premade teams. Occasionally the first pick will ask if anyone wants to reserve a champion that's highly contested, but in general people tend to just pick whatever they're going to play, even if they risk being countered. You can't always trust people in soloqueue. If you pick a support for someone, all they have to do is pick what they want and not trade with you in order to force you into supporting, which is what a lot of ranked players will do.

Maybe that sounds pessimistic, but it happens, and I'd consider it more detrimental to a team for that to occur than for your first pick to get countered in lane.
Thanks to Janitsu for the sig!

Main support, give zero ****s when your team forces you to support. Problem solved.
