^ It isn't
People just think that if guide1 is clearly better than special guest guide then guide1 shouldn't be left out of the spotlight just because special guest guide is written by a pro player.
What am I still doing in this thread omg
Edit: Just to be clear, there aren't many guides that are better than the special guest ones in terms of effectiveness and viability so I'm still on the special guests' side
Thanks to Koksei for the sig!

Hey, a few things:

1) I didn't code any pro/guest guides, I don't code any guides beyond my own (Throatslasher was an exception, as I did a lot of editing too). To my knowledge, there is a coder/editer/writer writing and coding for special guests. Most special guest guides do contain coding that is available at my Making a Guide Guide as templates, so if it looks like my coding style, that's why. EDIT: I did offer to code special guest guides, but was informed there was already someone doing it officially.

2) No one in this thread is accusing special guest authors of writing BAD guides. Most of us here are just wanting Quality > Quantity.

3) We're not expecting a special guest to drop their real life, gaming time, sleeping hours etc etc etc to upkeep their guides (that's hypocritical). We just expect quality guides if the author is being paid (even if not by cash, free advertising is frikken good too).

4) Unlike what people are suggesting in this thread, QUALITY =/= BBCODING. Stop saying things like, "don't expect art" or whatever the hell. We are NOT asking for a Master Coder from the special guests. I don't care if they don't even know the tags for bolding text. What we want from special guests of exceptional elo is INFORMATIONAL QUALITY. Some guides for ADCs have a final purchase order with Banshee's Veil first item - does that help ANYONE? From a professional guide, I expect to see the nuances of how to play a champion in their specific role. Want to know about an author that I regard as one of the best on MobaFire for writing rich content knowledge of a specific champion? PsiGuard.

5) A solution would be to set the special guest guides side-by-side the "community" guides, as opposed to above. It'd also be beneficial to change it from upvote/downvote to like/dislike, to indicate that the special guest guides are not competing with the other guides.

Sorry for the long post, but I felt that a lot of the people here seemed to have a few misconceptions. I hope this clears things up a little. And thanks to the special guest authors who have contributed to this thread, we really appreciate it.

Eh, I wrote another long *** post about how I agree with jhoi and how special guest guides get too much credit but whatever I realized how stupid and contradictory it sounded. Another 20 mins of my life for nothing q.q
EDIT: Also, how come we should appreciate pro guides because they took away some of the pro's precious time?
I mean, doesn't every other decent guide on here take time to make? Don't the other guide makers also have to sacrifice their free time in order to make a good guide?
I'm bothered by the superiority thing going on.
Thanks to Koksei for the sig!

The guide quality is fine, the more guides that have good content for each champion the better in my opinion.

i dont really see a problem here, good information is getting put out by the special guests isnt that really the most important thing? this thread sounds like "THEYRE PRO PLAYERS THEIR GUIDES SHOULD BE 10 TIMES BETTER THAN WHAT THEY ARE cuz theyre better than mine right now"

I feel similarly, Hoodstomp. I put a lot of time and effort into my guides, trying to make them informative and nicely polished. It seems so far in the comments that people have been receiving the guides well, but if anyone disagrees and has any feedback then feel free to message me about it.

I'd like to see more of an emphasis on detailed quality than sheer amount of quantity.

Obviously some people will be able to write more in depth guides with fancier BBC coding than others, but I feel that the guides I'm putting out give a good overview on how to play and build the champions I'm talking about. As Hoodstomp said as well, a lot of the special guest writers are also busy. I try to make time every day to work on guides to produce as much content as I can for the community, but it's not always possible when trying to juggle school, scrims, and individual practice in solo queue as well, not to mention spending time with friends and family.

I'm not saying that you should forsake your life for the sake of writing guides on MobaFire. You currently have 7 guides written which obviously shows that you're passionate about self-promotion and getting information out there. I'd like to see you focus less on pumping out content and more on writing two or three really informational (re: not brief skimming over the basic functionality of a champion) guides with crisp updating and an attention to detail.

You're obviously a very good player. I've watched your stream and played against you in solo queue - I respect your opinion on subject matter. I'd just like to see it get a sense of focus.

I feel that saying the guest writers are vomiting content onto the front page is even accurate either, considering most of the guides, at least the ones I am writing, have been received well.

They come out frequently enough to warrant this post. It wouldn't be an issue if the quality of the content you're producing wasn't being questioned.

I also have one question, what made you single out these 3 guest writers, when Heartbeat writes guide that are about equal in depth but he seems to be receiving little to no flak here. Is there something he is doing that I should adopt?

People are probably just spouting off the first few names they see. I wouldn't take it personally, it's a general complaint.

I put hard work into the guides I make, publish them, and then read and respond to the comments on all of the guides. If you have feedback I'd love to hear it, because I know that I'm no expert at writing guides yet. I'm putting forth my best effort though to help improve the community's knowledge on many of the champions that I play.

You do. I appreciate your approach to the game and like to see it on display. I think you have the potential to be an amazing content producer and want to see you embrace that instead of stressing over constant releases.

I know I'm coming off as negative here, but the tl;dr of all of this is simple: Quality > Quantity. That's it.

I've actually found that the guest guides I've read tend to be a good source for nuances. Well, while I tend not to make guest guides my first port of call, when I have a good understanding of a champion I like to look at the guest guides for intricacies of the champions which really let me understand just how they work. Of course, it may be a quirk of my own thinking that a single specific tactic or combo can suddenly make the whole champion make more sense. Admittedly I've only read a few, and that I do not turn to the guest guides as my first resource for learning speaks somewhat ill, however this is something that the guest guides have brought that I really like and want to see maintained.
