Note: If you have to build a situational item (example: Chemtech Putrifier) early, you should buy Forbidden Idol first to not delay stronger shield/heals.
MYTHICAL ITEMS
Shurelya's Battlesong is the best in scenarios where you have to disengage or engage or when there are many skillshots to dodge.
Example: There is Sett top, Fiddlesticks jungle, Xerath mid, Kai'sa adc, Rakan support -> in this case your ult and q probably won't be enough to disengage and xerath in late hurts a lot so Shurelya's Battlesong is here for that!
When you know fights will last long (long fights=many tanks) you should go for Moonstone Renewer because this item reaches it's max potential in a bit long time after fights start so basically run this if enemy team has 3 or more tanks or whenever you don't have to run other mythicals.
First of all I think this item is underrated. Imperial Mandate grants you lots of AP from mythical pasive (which undirectly increases your damage with Celerity, Relentless Hunter also your shield/heals). You should run this item when your team is focusing on river fights (makes easier to proc pasive) or you're smurfing hard.
Run this item if there are 3 or more assassins but keep in mind you'll have too much mana issues (mainly because of going Relic Shield) so don't forget to buy Faerie Charm as first item.
If enemy team has too much CC (example: Amumu top, Ashe adc and Leona support) rush Mikael's Blessing, if there are only 1 or 2 CC you can just build it later.
As a support you must always have Control Ward in inventory, when you have 5 items you shouldn't go for 6th one and instead, buy Vigilant Wardstone and stack wards in it. Definitely the best last item choice.
BOOTS
Most of the time you'll be running this, the best choice for pocketing.
If you trust your adc you can leave them alone in lane and focus more on roams ( Guardian outclasses Arcane Comet while roaming also Waterwalking combines the gameplay really well).
I personally use these boots if there is a support who slows (example: Yuumi, Braum etc.).
Use this only if enemy team has lots of CC and focusing you instead of your carries.
You gotta rush these boots if enemy team has 4 or 5 AD characters.
Manaflow Band is really situational, i personally don't have mana issues without it but some people always picks it so it really depends on the player, definitely not a bad choice. Nimbus Cloak works really well with Flash+ Zephyr but also in defensive ways.
Transcendence is not viable mainly because the other 2 options work much better on Janna. Celerity is a great rune for Janna because of her passive Tailwind, usable in most cases. Absolute Focus is good if you think that you won't be low hp in lane and bully enemy bot lane, the best option for smurfing.
Scorch is a good choice in matchups which you'll be able to constantly poke. Waterwalking is great for river fights (works really well with Imperial Mandate and Mobility Boots because you'll be much stronger than usual in river) and roaming. Pick Gathering Storm if you think you'll lose early by draft.
RESOLVE
Guardian is really strong against engage, the movement speed when it procs is just OP and must be abused. Also Guardian is really good for roaming because of the movement speed when proc. Use this if enemy support engages hard or they have 3 or more assassins, has a good synergy with Locket of the Iron Solari and Relic Shield.
You should use Second Wind if you'll trade constantly. Bone Plating is for reducing damage of burst in early lane. Both are great runes so these depends on the player.Note: I heard that Conditioning works well with Locket of the Iron Solari but your laning will be weaker so keep in mind, i haven't tested by myself yet.
Revitalize is the only viable option here, great rune as it buffs your shield/heals by 5%, 15% if target is below 40% HP.
Taste of Blood helps a lot with sustain in lane, other 2 are useless.
Eyeball Collection free AP=more movement speed=more damage=more shied/heals, great rune.
Ravenous Hunter becomes completely useless after mid game so i personally hate it but there are people using it so it depends I guess. Ingenious Hunter works really well against high CC comps as it reduces Mikael's Blessing CD also useful for Shurelya's Battlesong, Locket of the Iron Solari and Redemption. Relentless Hunter as i mentioned many times above, movement speed is everything for Janna, scales really well and a great rune. I run this on most of my matches. Ultimate Hunter is not a bad choice but there's no point to choose it instead of the 3 above, weaker than others in most cases.
By using Perfect Timing you're almost guaranteeing a 2v2 fight win, helps a lot in mid game, life saver. Other 2 are not as useful as stopwatch BUT* it depends on player, some people use Magical Footwear but comparing boots to stopwatch is a bit ridiculous to be honest.
Okay so I gotta mention that I gave you 6 rune pages and most of them are similar to each other so I can't give you very specific and detailed examples of where to use each rune page. I can just tell you that:
- For the 3 stats, you can go
2 AP-1 armor -> Usual.
1 AS-1 AP-1 armor -> Works well if you think that you can constantly poke.
1 AP-1 MR-1 armor -> Hard matchups
1 AH-1 AP-1 armor -> I tried this many times and to be honest I didn't feel the missing AP that i passed for AH so this is probably even better than the 2 AP setups.[*]
