Hello, my name is bboyxje123. Season 6 is the season where I started playing League of Legends. My peak elo is high platinum. In season 9 I first became platinum by playing Karma top, yes Karma top. My main role is midlane in which I have a big pool of champions I play. One of these is Lucian and in this guide I will show you everything I know about this champion and how you can abuse his power. I wouldn't call myself a Lucian otp, but I am a decent Lucian player.

Lucian has everything that a midlaner needs, good mobility with his dash, potential of making good trades, good waveclear with Piercing Light / Lightslinger / The Culling. He is a very good early-game lane bully. You can force the enemy midlaner to farm under his/her tower and control the midlane without missing any farm! Lucian works extremely well against control mages. He can easily dodge their opening skillshot and punish them with a lot of damage thanks to Relentless Pursuit.

Pros → good mobility → good against control mages → great waveclear → strong in the early/mid game → has a lot of lane pressure → potential of turning trades in your favor

Cons → short range → hard to master → high mana costs → weak to hard CC → hard to comeback when you don't have a lead

LIGHTSLINGER (Passive)

After using an ability, Lucian's next basic attack within 3.5 seconds fires an additional shot after 0.25 seconds, which deals 50 / 55 / 60% (based on level) AD physical damage, increased to 100% AD against minions. The second shot applies on-hit effects. If Lucian's primary target is killed before the second shot can go off, he automatically shoots another enemy in range. Lightslinger will not be consumed and will not trigger the second basic attack if Lucian is silenced, unless the attack's windup had already started.

PIERCING LIGHT (Q) RANGE: 500 COST: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 Mana COOLDOWN: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5

Lucian fires a laser in the direction of the target enemy, dealing physical damage to all enemies hit in a line.

ARDENT BLAZE (W) RANGE: 900 COST: 70 Mana COOLDOWN: 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 MAGIC DAMAGE: 75 / 110 / 145 / 180 / 215 (+ 90% AP)

Lucian fires a shot in the target direction that explodes in a cross pattern upon hitting an enemy or reaching the end of its path, dealing magic damage and granting sight to the area for 1 second. Enemies hit are marked for 6 seconds. Lucian gains bonus movement speed for 1 second if he or allied champions damage a marked target. Bonus movement speed: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80

RELENTLESS PURSUIT (E) RANGE: 425 COST: 40 / 30 / 20 / 10 / 0 Mana COOLDOWN: 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14

Passive: Relentless Pursuit's cooldown is reduced by 1 second for each Lightslinger shot landed, doubled to 2 seconds against enemy champions. Active: Lucian dashes in the target direction. Relentless Pursuit resets Lucian's basic attack timer. Relentless Pursuit can be cast during The Culling. The Culling and other abilities can be cast during Relentless Pursuit.

THE CULLING (R) RANGE: 1200 COST: 100 Mana COOLDOWN: 110 / 100 / 90

Lucian channels for up to 3 seconds, rapidly firing shots in the target direction, dealing physical damage to the first enemy they collide with. The damage is doubled against enemy minions. The Culling can be deactivated after 0.75 seconds. While channeling, Lucian always faces in the casted direction and can move through units, he fires the shots in the target direction from his current position. Physical damage per shot on champions: 20 / 40 / 60 (+ 25% AD) (+ 10% AP) Physical damage per shot on minions: 40 / 80 / 120 (+ 50% AD) (+ 20% AP) Shots fired: 22 / 28 / 34

The Standard combo to make trades in lane or even use in teamfights is AA (auto attack) + Q + double AA + E + double AA + W + double AA + E + AA.

Ardent Blaze can be used to give you vision on someone.

You can use Ardent Blaze to locate Talon after he uses his ult. You won't be able to attack him but at least you will know where he is.

Playing against Malzahar should be pretty easy but there is one thing that you need to think about. Malzahar can cancel The Culling with Call of the Void. Silencing effects deactivate The Culling.

With Lucian mid you have a lot of pressure and the possibility to farm a lot. Personally I like to farm my jungler's raptors and the enemy jungler's raptors. This gives you a bigger lead on the enemy midlaner. In this video I show you how to line up the raptors so you can hit Piercing Light on all of them.

SUMMONER SPELLS - FLASH: As always flash is one of your summoner spells. Nothing is as handy as repositioning yourself or even escaping with Flash. It can also be used in some combos for example with Piercing Light or The Culling. IGNITE: Since Lucian is a very good early-game lane bully, taking Ignite is the best thing to do in most cases. It can finish of your kill or add some extra damage during the fight. TELEPORT: In matchups where you won't be able to kill the enemy midlaner, you should take Teleport. In matchups with Teleport your focus should be on farming and roaming or even bullying the enemy jungler.

★ Lucian his passif is the reason why Press the Attack works so well on him. You can activate it a lot faster. Always try to use Piercing Light after you activate press the attack since it increases your damage ( and from your team ) dealt to them for 6 seconds. The perfect use of it would be auto attack / Relentless Pursuit / double auto attack / Piercing Light. Just make sure you activate it before using Piercing Light.

★ This item helps Lucian his mana problems. It gives 15% of your maximum mana after a kill and increased mana regen in lane. This rune is very usefull since Piercing Light really destroys your mana bar. It will allow you to use Piercing Light more often and therefore poke the enemy midlaner more.

★ With this rune you can survive more poke in lane. Late game you will not only critical strike because of your items but also heal a lot of HP thanks to this rune. This rune makes it possible to swap Blade of the Ruined King with another situational item.

★ This rune is a wonder in teamfights. You will deal increased damage to champions that have 40% or less HP. Like this wasn't even enough the rune also gives some AD for every takedown. This rune really helps out to finish kills.

★ This rune is just amazing. You will get free boots ( with 10 bonus movement speed ) in your inventory for free without even having to recall. It doesn't only save a lot of gold but also helps you to dominate the midlane and create a lot of pressure which is what you want. Imagine a lane bully with fancy boots, that is Lucian with this rune!

★ With this rune you will receive a Biscuit of Everlasting Will at 2:00 / 4:00 / 6:00. Therefore you will be able to take more trades and stay longer in lane. Each biscuit also permanently increases your maximum mana by 50. Since Lucian uses a lot of mana early on this rune is really helpful.

★ If you are able to takedown all enemy champions, you will get 9.5% omnivamp. This is very useful in the late game. You will heal a lot by spamming Piercing Light on enemy champions in teamfights. Just like Taste of Blood this gives you more lifesteal so you will be able to survive teamfights a lot longer.

MERCURY'S TREADS > MAGIC RESIST + TENACITY If the enemy team has a lot of AP based champions or a lot of CC, you should swap Berserker's Greaves with Mercury's Treads. PLATED STEELCAPS > ARMOR If the enemy team has a lot of AD based champions or champions that deal their damage with auto attacks ( for example Kayle ), you should swap Berserker's Greaves with Plated Steelcaps.

MANAMUNE Manamune feels really well on Lucian mid because he uses a lot of mana in lane. This item gives you a lot of bonus mana and more AD. You should buy this as your first item after your boots. It will allow you to spam Piercing Light in lane and therefore poke the enemy midlaner more. Which will result in you dominating the midlane.

KRAKEN SLAYER Kraken Slayer works very well on Lucian because his passif allows the item to stack up very fast. Which will result in you destroying squishy enemies in seconds. This item gives you your first 20% critical strike chance.

ESSENCE REAVER This item gives you your second 20% critical strike chance. After using an ability ( mostly Piercing Light ) your next auto attack deals more damage and restores 3% of your maximum mana. With Biscuit Delivery / Manamune and Essence Reaver your mana problems are solved. At this point of the game you can spam Piercing Light without hesitating.

INFINITY EDGE After buying Kraken Slayer and Essence Reaver you will have a total of 40% critical strike chance. This makes Infinity Edge the perfect item to buy next. This will give you 20% extra critical strike chance and also activate its passif. You will now have 35% bonus critical strike damage combined with 60% critical strike chance.

BLADE OF THE RUINED KING Lucian isn't really good at destroying tanks. This item will help him with that. It gives you AD/AS/lifesteal and a passive which deals 6% of the target's current health as damage for each auto attack hit. Blade of the Ruined King works good with Lucian because of his passif. One passif proq deals 12% of the target's current health as damage. This item is amazing for destroying tanks but if the enemy team doesn't really have a tank you should swap this item with a situational item.
