Tips: Scaling page with Conqueror always + TP. Ive had succes with black cleaver rush and LDR rush but its one of the worst matchups possible regardless. Ideally Dodge specially if your team is full AD. You could ban it if Malphite is played a lot in your elo. If you do decide to play it focus on W'ing Q's and rushing Armor pen / Bloodthirster. No bloodthirster = death in every ult specially if AP Malphite.
Hwei
Tips: Very hard matchup, too much range and can fear you when you E in. Would recommend taking TP, rush a bloodthirster and just try and scale and play for mid game fights/lategame. You can W most of their kit but W'ing stuff that isnt ult gets you a free ult in the face. (usually = death when they have 1 item) Would only go for early game kills up to like level 8 unless you are stomping. Once they get 1 to 2 items E'ing in and not w'ing ult = dead.
Viktor
Tips: Must ban in current meta. One of the worst matchups you can possible face + pick rate is fairly high. If you decide to play it, TP + scaling page/second wind dorans shield or Electro + ignite and play very aggro and pray they let you E in. Always rush a bloodthirster to keep up with his poke. His ult cancels your ult. When you E in aggressively start moving away from him to avoid being stunned by his W (AOE circle on the ground). Your only W value is W'ing his Q but he will still get the shield regardless and will be able to empowered auto attack you.
Cho'Gath
Tips: We have no tools to counter health so there isnt really much we can do vs Cho. Prio getting bloodthirster and LDR. Conquerer always + scaling runes as you dont ever intend to ''win'' this lane. Focus on side stepping q's. Dont get baited by rushing anti heal, he heals off the wave not by fighting you.
Yasuo
Tips: You can hit through windwall with MELEE Q/Auto Attack. Focus on hitting him once to get rid of his shield before going for a full trade. Long trades tend to be bad if they have lethal Tempo. Ideally wait with ult until they used windwall. You can W his ranged Q. You can E towards him when he EQ's you to swap places and avoid knockup.
Vex
Tips: Rush a blood thirster, wait for them to waste fear then go in. Can W her Q E and R focus on w'ing the fear ability. Either conqueror scaling page or electrocute to win lane. Free if they waste fear, otherwise you are legit doing nothing waiting for them to use it.
Ahri
Tips: Play this matchup VERY aggressively. E on her or use minions to gapclose, W the charm or q ideally the charm and you already won that trade. I often EQW in and just do a sidestep after if she didn't throw charm yet. Very good lane pre level 6 so go for early game kills.
Aurelion Sol
Tips: The only way to lose this 1v1 is by standing in his laser beam for the full duration. Short trades is key here. Take Electrocute, E Q W auto and walk away behind minions so he cant laser you. Minions are a safety point. Q him when he lasers as its a free hit. Use minions to gapclose. Would rush a BT to be able to tank more of the laser and get more favorable trades. Would heavily suggest playing aggro early letting an asol scale for free is not good.
Katarina
Tips: Avoid standing on daggers always unless you are baiting her to go in. Avoid standing near low health minions so q doesn't hit you in the face. Can W a q to get a favorable trade. If she jumps you and presses w (the dagger on the ground) EQ onto her to get away from it while still damaging her. You usually just outdamage her 1v1 making this matchup very favorable. Can also W like half her ult in teamfights or just in 1v1's to make it an easy 1v1 kill. Always Electro + ignite.
Taliyah
Tips: Not that bad of a matchup 1v1, but the taliyah E that stuns you when you dash is going to be annoying throughout the whole game. Agressive electrocute + ignite try to kill pre level 6. E onto her, sidestep the knockback and W q while you are on top of her.
Akshan
Tips: Electrocute + ignite and play agressively. Focus on W'ing his Q (boomerang) and try to avoid being hit by third auto's for press the attack procs. Can also W his hook to deny him escapes or just block it with your body to keep him in range to 1v1 him.
Akali
Tips: Heavily focus on W'ing her E (the shuriken that lets her dash on you) it does an insane amount of damage. Can W Q's. Matchup is mostly short trades and trying to get ult stacks BEFORE she gets in shroud. So that when u ult her you hit her even when shes in it. Once shes in shroud you cant build stacks. Play cautiously you dont win a straight up 1v1. Bloodthirster rush and Electrocute.
Lissandra
Tips: Not very playable 1v1. You can W her E (the one she uses to reposition herself) making her very immobile. If you are getting a gank try E'ing on to her and Wing this E so she cant escape. Dont stand behind minions as she will extend her q range by hitting them.
Anivia
Tips: Not that bad of a matchup but early game you will rarely have the damage to kill her egg. Can W her Q and E but prio Q. Short trades pre level 6 while w'ing her Q can get you kills. Electro + ignite. Collector or BT rush are both fine here.
Annie
Tips: Rush a BT always. Can win and kill early game but once she gets items she WILL one shot you. Always Electrocute. Can W her Q but it does not actually consume her stun. So she can still can still stun you with her W despite you having blocked the ''q stun''. Keep in mind that after killing her tibbers becomes aggro and runs at you and might kill you. Could opt into barrier + BT rush if you wanna play very safe.
Aurora
Tips: Can W her q's. Bloodthirster Rush + Electrocute always. E Q onto her when possible and W her q. Try to avoid being hit by her passive (i think its a 3 stack ability) Is very fast when she goes stealth very rarely worth chasing.
Azir
Tips: Can W ult but its inconsistent so dont rely on it. Electrocute + BT rush. Would play this very aggro with short trades. Try to avoid long trades if they have lethal tempo. E Q in Auto W and start walking back while auto attacking. Repeat until low enough to all in. Can body block his dash to sometimes stop him from escaping.
Cassiopeia
Tips: Cant E while you are on her E. Can W her E and Q but E will still just fall on the ground underneath her. NEVER trade when u are hit by a Q unless you can kill. Hit by cass q = Walk away. Focus on sidestepping ults. Could take cleanse but id prefer to rely on sidestepping and just take ignite or TP. Can rush BT for safety and sustain or collector and go for all ins.
Diana
Tips: You kinda dont really out damage. Would recommend playing safe mostly unless you got a really good trade. Can W her Q's . Bloodthirster rush to survive. Boneplating is an option but you have to heavily focus on dodging Q's to not waste it.
Ekko
Tips: Highly depended on what runes they have. If electrocute W'ing Ekko Q makes it hard for them to proc passive. They E on you or you on them W the Q and kite back. Repeat. Hail of blades makes this matchup a lot worse as they can proc passive with just auto's. Would always take Electrocute + Bloodthirster. TP/Ignite both fine.
Fizz
Tips: Can use your E to get away from his E by E'ing towards minions. Dont ever EQ in if he hasnt used his E yet (the dash that drops down). Try to bully with q's and autos and punish when he wastes E. Can W his ult which makes him lose ALOT of damage. Bloodthirster rush always. I like ignite but u could just take TP or barrier as well. Fizz players will often Q to a minion and ULT mid q to surprise you, be aware of that.
Galio
Tips: Ive had some success with bone plating into Galio. Would always take conquerer + TP and boneplating secondary. Try to avoid being hit by q's (you can w them). Mostly you are just avoiding getting into his taunt range. If he does E in and taunt you. Fight back. Most damage is gone. BT rush into LDR could be fine if their team is very tanky. If squishy team apart from galio BT into collector/IE/LDR is fine.
Irelia
Tips: You have ranged advantage so make sure to auto as much as possible. Be VERY careful when she has max q stacks or close to max, you do not ever really want to fight her when she has it up. Very winnable you can W her E (the root) as long as you are not on the starting point of it, and you can W the R. Would take ignite always and get Anti heal LDR later on. Could opt into bone plating aswell. Would prefer Electrocute but Conqueror is fine too.
Jayce
Tips: They have a lot of damage and can knock you back very easily with their E making trading very hard. Would kinda not play the lane and try to just farm and scale. BUT if you want to play the lane focus heavily on W'ing their E Q combo. Conqueror always and TP + BT rush to stay alive. His Melee Q is AOE so be careful standing close to minions.
Karma
Tips: W her empowered Q's. Often you will EQ in she will W you (the root) and THEN do her empowered Q so dont use W too early. Shouldnt ever really be able to kill you tho specially if you rush BT. Could go aggressive electro + ignite. Or TP / scaling page.
Kassadin
Kayle
Kennen
LeBlanc
Lux
Tips: Can w everything in her kit besides ult. Would play this lane very aggressive with electro + ignite. E towards minions to get you in melee range with lux and start trading. W'ing their Q or E is usually a decent trade. Can also E towards minions and gap close timed with lux's E so it doesnt hit you, if you then w Q she has 0 spells to hit you with. Bloodthirster rush always to keep up with the poke. If you E in aggressively and W but she doesnt throw Q into the W be ready to try and sidestep it after doing your trade. Very often the trade looks like this: E to a minion, Auto her Q her, W her E, walk up or down to attempt to side step the Q if sidestepped keep auto attacking.
Malzahar
Tips: Decent pre level 6. Can play safe with TP or go ignite and try and kill. Personally would go ignite. Bloodthirster rush always as it lets you sometimes just survive his ult. Try and get rid of his spellshield first with a Q or auto. His shield lasts 0.25 seconds after breaking it and gives him 90% damage reduction meaning that if u dont break it before hand and EQW in, you just did 10% damage with EQW. Quicksilver Sash later into the game as a 4th item or earlier but ideally let your supports get Michaels as the item is pretty bad to get. Dont delay core items by buying it.
Mel
Tips: You can actually only half W the ball she sends flying at you. Meaning u wont get hit by the center because you make the ball disappear but the edge of the ball will still hit you no matte what, slowing you and dealing damage. Agressively E in if possible, dont ult if she hasnt used her reflect or you will be hurting yourself more than her. Would rush a BT always and take TP + Scaling page. U dont intend to ''win'' this lane just survive and play for teamfights/late game. Actively look in fights if shes used her reflect ability or not. Can one shot her if its down if u have items.
Naafiri
Neeko
Orianna
Tips: Bloodthirster rush. The biggest part to winning this matchup is E'ing aggressively forward while tanking an Orianna Q. Then W'ing the ball on the way back when she E's herself so you deny her the shield. Keep in mind Wing her q's only STOPS the ball where it hits windwall it doesnt remove it.
Pyke
Tips: Love playing into pyke supports, MANY pykes will agressively dash into you not knowing you can W their dash trail. They will have no mobility left making it a free kill usually. Always prio W'ing E over Q unless being hit by the q puts you in a REALLY bad spot.
Pantheon
Qiyana
Ryze
Smolder
Tips: Agressively E in and W his Q or W. Can W his ult which is massive value. Would recommend playing aggressively with electro + ignite. Could rush Bloodthirster if you dont feel confident otherwise Collector and try to snowball before he can scale up.
Swain
Tips: Conquerer always as he becomes very tanky. Bloodthirster rush feels very good into Swain. Focus heavily on W'ing his E or just doding it, if he just missed one its time to go in pre level 6. Hard to lose 1v1 when he only has q to press. Get antiheal LDR as a third or 4th item.
Sylas
Tips: Both conqueror and ignite are fine, i always take ignite for antiheal and to win 1v1's. Focus heavily on W'ing his E(the chain) it does the most damage. Can also W his attempt to steal ults from anyone on your team. Dont worry too much about him having Samira ult it barely does any damage on him.
Syndra
Tips: Would play very aggressively with ignite + Electrocute. E start and try to trade level 1, 2. Rush Bloodthirster so you dont get one shot. Can W her E (knockback) but its very inconsistent so u cant rely on it. Wait for her to use E then go in ideally or attempt to W it. Can also W ult defensively.
Taliyah
Tips: Not that bad of a 1v1 but E hard counters Samira and will be bad for you throughout the whole game. Cant ever really E in if taliyah E is on the ground. Would take Electro+Ignite and play aggressively early. E in, W'Q and try to sidestep their W (knockback).
Twisted Fate
Tips: Straight forward matchup, focus heavily on w'ing his empowered cards (99% gold cards). Electrocute + ignite always and play very aggressively, E start + E in level 1 if possible. All builds are fine into TF would personally go for max damage so Collector into IE.
Talon
Tips: Bloodthirster rush + electrocute/ignite to match aggression. Heavily focus on W'ing his W(the shuriken's he throws) he will have one less passive stack = better trades. Avoid letting him proc passive at all cost. After level 6 prio W'ing his ult. If you are ahead/the aggressor try and get ult stacks before he goes stealth so you can actually ult. Save W for ults and you should most of the time be able to 1v1 him.
Vel'Koz
Tips: Somewhat playable if they dont have barrier if they do i wouldn't recommend trying to win the lane. Rush a bloodthirster. Take scaling page or electro + ignite if you wanna try and win. Can W everything Vel'koz has except ult but would prio his E (the knockup).
Vladimir
Tips: You dont outscale so id play to win the lane early game. Rush a bloodthirster. Take electro + ignite. Dont let him empowered Q you ever. E in when its not empowered. W his E proc electro and walk away or all in if you feel like you're winning. Antiheal LDR as a third item ideally.
Xerath
Tips: Longest poke mage in the game meaning you should rush a Bloodthirster take Teleport/scaling page/second wind/dorans shield. Personally i would still take electrocute and TP and go for an agressive conquerer/domination page so i can atleast still try to win. Focus on Wing his E (the root) or do a sidestep if you used W in the trade after you e'd onto him. Use E on minions as a gap closer if u cant directly.
Yone
Tips: You can W his Q knockup if you are at the edge of it. (many yones wont expect it) You could also turn that into a trade back W his ranged Q into your own EQ + w hitting him. Try and avoid long trades. If he e's towards you run, last second do a quick short burst trade before he teleports back. This matchup is all about short trades. E Q W in aggressively and run for your life. You dont win a standard 1v1 with lethal tempo + his E + his w shield.
Zed
Tips: Play agressively early game specially level 1 with E start. Focus on dodging q's and Wing if you feel like you are about to be hit by w q's. Hold W when hes 6 to use for q's. Ideally save E aswell when he you think hes going to ult you so you can E away from him. Bloodthirster rush / electro + ignite.
Zoe
Tips: Would be a good matchup but there is a W bug potential where it just doesnt work on Zoe E. Play agressively, focus heavily on W'ing the E and try to avoid standing near walls or in the open. Zoe Q doesnt go through minions but does AOE on impact so dont stand too close to your wave. Electrocute always.
Amumu
Ideal team fight champion to have on your team. Every game is winnable if you have an Amumu + Samira Combo. Actively try to play around your Amumu.
Jarvan IV
Very good jungler to have on your team, can often create knockups engage for you and often also half healths them giving you many free kills if they play around you.
Zac
Kha'Zix
All champs in ''none'' are champs that are solo carries that cant really play around you very well. You will have no cc in the 2v2, making it very hard to setup mid lane ganks. Can still win games with them ofcourse you would just prefer to have engage cc carries.

Pretty decent support to have on your team. If enemies are close to being stunned by Braum passive stun them first and THEN ult. Braum R is decent setup.
Nunu & Willump
Amazing synergy jungler literally a monkey that just runs it down for you with a knockup. One of the best junglers to have. Free kills if they play around you mid.
Warwick
Poppy
Sejuani
Fiddlesticks
One of the best junglers you could wish for, hard engage champion that *stuns* people and also damages them for quite a bit making it a perfect setup for you to swoop in and win. Actively try and play around fiddle stick ults.
Taric
Awesome support to have on your team, you can aggressively E forward and taric can stun them leaving enemies with very little counter play.

1. Who Am I? (The Samira Mid OTP)
Im KingBranco, a Master 200 LP Peak Samira mid one trick! I’ve played her exclusively mid since her release, grinding multiple accounts to Master and countless more to Diamond. With millions of mastery points across my accounts (and likely one of the most Samira hours globally) I’ve tested every build, matchup, and playstyle possible for Samira Mid lane. I also stream daily and make Samira mid YouTube content. This guide is for people that also want to learn how to play Samira Mid lane!
2. Why Samira Mid? Samira is super fun! Bot lane to me personally.. not so much. I dislike the bot lane meta and i dont like to rely on random supports. Playing Samira bot lane with passive / auto filled / or just supports that otp a champ that doesnt synergize well with Samira feels pretty awful. The 1v1 aspect of mid lane is so much more fun to me, and risky and exciting! It also adds a little bit more depth to the playstyle besides just ''my naut hit a hook im going in''. Do you like making plays? Destroying mages? Going for risky 1v1's 1v2's or even 1v3's? Then you will LOVE Samira Mid.
3. Is it really viable?
Yes. Its 100% viable up to a certain point. Ive hit master a few times and diamond many many times playing Samira mid lane exclusively. Samira mid is a very good counter pick into certain matchups like Ahri Katarina Twisted Fate Akshan Aurelion Sol. Is it an S tier pick that will let you just cruise your way to master elo? No. (altho it could be if you DUO with setup Zac Amumu Sejuani) BUT it is however an extremely fun viable pick that for me personally made league of legends 10x more enjoyable.
The Samira Basics
Before i get into what you need for mid lane specifically and how to play it here are a few videos i made covering the very basics for people that still need to learn how Samira works. This covers things like her abilities and how the passive works, how to build stacks on her etc. If you are an experienced player who knows the basics already feel free to skip them.
Here is a video i made that covers how to play Samira and how she works/what she does in under 6 Minutes!
A more in depth video covering multiple combos and general good to know infothat will help you understand Samira better.
A video covering the more difficult and Adanced combos you should know and using hidden mechanics like bugs that you could potentionally include into your gameplay.
FlashAlways take this 90% of your gameplan is setting up a Flash all-in. Also crucial for gap closing later in teamfights and reaching back line carries. Helpful for repositioning with ult when E is on cooldown. Great for flashing away from champions and crowd control abilities so your ult doesnt get interrupted.
ExhaustCould take this into assassins Zed Fizz Akali if you want to play to survive. Would personally take Ignite to match aggression and have a chance to win 1v1's but i think its a preference.
CleanseTakeable into matchups like Cassiopeia but id personally just take ignite for more kill pressure and rely on sidestepping this stun. Even into matchups like Lissandra or other hard cc champs id rather have Teleport
How to play her mid?
CORE ITEMS For FULL builds look at the TOP of the page.
1. BLOODTHIRSTER Extremely good item for Samira Mid lane. Would recommend building this item first pretty much always. It gives you incredible sustain vs mage's that poke you down, and very good suvivability into assassins while still giving you enough AD to kill your opponents.
2. COLLECTOR
After Bloordthirster you want to start building crit. Collector is your go to second item. It gives you AD Lethality and Crit which is everything Samira needs to thrive. You will noticeably last hit more kills with a collector than without one because of the execute.
3. INFINITY EDGE
Infinity Edge is one of the best possible items for Samira that you include in pretty much every build. Often this is your third item after BT and Collector. Its a massive spike in Damage overall and increases your Crit damage which is huge as samira's auto's q's and ULT can all crit.
4. LORD DOMINIKS
Lord Dominiks is ESSENTIAL in every single build no matter what. The item has more value later into the game because naturally as people level up and build armor they will have more resistance meaning you need the armor penetration. Huge spike paired with Infinity Edge you will even be able to output MASSIVE dps into tanks. You could opt into this item earlier if you are playing into very bad matchups like malphite or are playing into a very beefy tank team overal.
BOOTS:
-OR-
Plated Steelcaps > ARMOR Essential into champions that do AD damage like Zed Yasuo Yone. Only buy if there is limited CC on the enemy team and you feel like you dont need mercs to be able to teamfight. Always look at the state of the game to figure out which boots to buy. If you are VS Ahri but the enemy has Rengar and Riven and Lucian you should still get Plated Steelcaps. Specially considering you can Blade Whirl Charm anyway.
Mercury's Treads > TENACITY Essential into CC mages or just heavy CC teamcomps. Examples: Vex Annie Lux Leona Sejuani. Prioritize getting mercs EVEN if you are vs an AD champ if you feel like you cant play the game otherwise. If there is a Leona support and an Amumu jungle i would STILL get mercs even if im laning vs Yasuo. Yes really. Dont get tunnel visioned on the 1v1.
Can also opt into Boots of Swiftness if you feel like like the other boots dont give you enough value. Decent into mages you need to stick onto like Ahri and teamcomps with a lot of slows Nasus Zilean and Rylai's Crystal Scepter users like Zyra Brand.
There are 3 mainstrategies when it comes to playing Samira mid lane:
1. Poking with Q and Autto attacks.
With Samira Mid lane you have to actively try and get as many q's and auto attacks in as possible. Counter poke when they hit you, counter trade when they hit you. Agressively attack melee champions constantly with your ranged advantage and try to widdle down their health bar more and more until you can go in agressively. Keep an eye out on minions so you dont take too much damage from them when trading with autos. Use Q to get rid of things like Bone Plating, First Strike, Yasuo passive shield, Malzahar passive shield before e'ing in. This is why Presence of Mind is required you will be q'ing ALOT and you will run out of mana without it.
2. AGRESSIVE short trades + All-ins
With Samira you have to play agressively pre level 6 unless you play to scale (which is also a fine playstyle). I very often E Wild Rush start level 1 and just E into squishy mages and take half their health bar level 1. Very often you cannot use E on enemy mages directly so you have to use enemy minions to get in range with them. Most of the time u can still extend the e far enough to hit the laners aswell. Your gameplay is mostly this: Q poke, E Q in agressively, W whatever stun or skillshot they have and try and kite back with 1 or 2 more autos as you are out of damage. Repeat until you can Flash all-in for a kill.
3. Using W to negate damage and get favorable trades
Using Blade Whirl Effectively is crucial to getting good trades. After agressively using Wild Rush to get onto the enemy try to time/predict a skillshot they will throw at you and W it. Can also use it from a distance and then agressively go in knowing a crucial spell is on CD. Always Prioritize CC skillshots like Ahri Charm, Xerath Shocking Orb, Anivia Flash Frost, Zoe Sleepy Trouble Bubble. If no CC focus on the hardest hitting Spell.
TRADE EXAMPLE: Wild Rush to a minion to get into melee range with Ahri. Auto + Flair her. Now the only choice ahri has is use her Charm or Q to trade back. Time Blade Whirl with her animation and negate either one of the abilities. If it was the Charm u won that trade even if u get hit by her Q. If it was her q that you windwalle, attempt to sidestep the charm as she will likely throw it after the Blade Whirl goes away. Even getting rid of the Q is already a lot of her damage gone. Negating either one of those spells will make this a VERY favorable trade settting you up to all-in her with a simple Flash + Wild Rush + Flair + Basic Attack = Electrocute + Ignite
Final Tips
+Play Around CC Samira Still does waaaay better with CC on the team even when playing her mid. If you have a DUO or a roaming support that can pick a CC champ this pick gets ALOT better. If solo try to actively look for fights mid to late and even early game with your CC champions if you have any after shoving and catching waves: Amumu Nautilus Leona Sejuani Zac
+Have fun!
This is supposed to be a fun yet viable pick that you can climb on. Samira's carry potential and PENTA potential is insane! And can get you some crazy high kill games and cool plays. Dont get discouraged when u dont do well instantly, we all lose lane even on meta picks, even faker loses lane! I still sometimes lose vs matchups ive beaten hundres of times, i still sometimes mess up a combo. It happens! Dont forget to check out the threats section at the top to get a little quick guide on most matchups!
Thank you for taking the time to check out my guide! I really do hope you have a good time playing Samira Mid lane.
If you have any questions feel free to ask them on any of my socials like: Twitch Youtube<- Clickable. I will always respond and usually pretty fast! I will do my best to keep this guide as up to date as possible when new patches drop and new champions come out!
