Introduction
Hello summoners, my name is Splitbreed. Affectionately known by my friends as, "Split." I have been playing this wonderful game since the beginning of S3. Not as long as many, I know. Ever since I started playing, I had a passion for learning the intricacies of this game. That especially applied to a lot of top lane champions, Garen included. (Obviously) I felt that this style of Garen was under-represented. I saw no guides on MOBAfire, (popular at least), that avidly promoted this assassin-bruiser style of play. I hope you can read this and gain a fresh look on one of the original LoL champions! Hint: He's more viable than you think. P.S. If the guide is missing a lot of content that has the chapter entries prepared already, just know it will be added over the next few weeks as I can scrounge the time together to write them. While I am still developing the content sections, all the item information and reasons why I pick them are in the purchase order dropboxes. |
Pros
|
+ Fantastic Early-Mid Game + Short Cooldowns + Resourceless + Crazy Mobility + Natural Tenacity and AoE + Natural Tankyness |
His short cooldowns and him being resourceless makes him such a nuisance to lane against. His 100-0 combo is on a 94 second cooldown at first level with a brutalizer (20% CDR.) Sometimes you don't even need the ult. It's difficult to gank a Garen due to his natural tenacity and mobility from his Q ability. He's a big ol' lane bully, and it's difficult to punish him for overextending. |
Cons
|
+ Rage-target + Weak to Kiting + Lack of CC + Falls off Late Game |
Garen's weaknesses are very obvious, you need to pick him into teams that have no way of taking advantage of those weaknesses. Heavy kite and disengage teams wreck Garen. Also, when you ult for a kill, people will often get angry at you. It's your responsibility to snowball, you're the one that falls off fast. Get a lead and push it. |
