Evelynn

Most people on Summoner's Rift (my favored Evelynn hunting ground) dislike having Eve on their team because she is easy to shut down, doesn't do much early-game damage and a single mistake can blow her off track for the rest of the game. Now, most of this is true unless your team has even a small amount of common sense and you do as well.

A "good" Evelynn player will say that while yes that kill at 1:45 may be "worth it", even if she dies in the process, when a "exceptional" would say it would be better to get an assist off your partner and have no one die. Remember you are as much a support as you are an assassin, slowing the enemy down with your stealth as much as exterminating an enemy. Do not get greedy, overly cocky and suicide just for a kill.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
Extremely versatile, can do AD, Hybrid, AP, Scout and assassin roles

Can dish out obscene damage after getting only one or two items built

Works extremely well against jungle farming enemies

With even a small amount of CDR for instance, can dance in and out of combat using stealth to nail multiple squishies who would other wise hide behind their beefier friends.

Cons:
Fairly easy to screw over

squishy and often targeted by silence/stuns if you engage too early

Needs a good start and a fairly competent team.

Runes

For runes I use 2 different combinations depending on who is free that week and what i have been seeing a lot of that day. If i see alot of squishier, high dmg teams I use: X9, X9, X9, x3 or X3.

If i see tankier teams i use: X9, X9, X9, x3.

Masteries

I use a high AP/MPen rune/mastery setup, preferring pure AP to hybrid/ad Evelynn. Using a 21/0/9 mastery setup ( i know, it's old school:P) going for as much AP and Mpen as i can get, plus Havoc and Executioner. I then head down the utility tree taking points in mana per level and improved recall, then movement speed. I put the last point into Runic Mastery for when i get the jump on someone with buffs I feel they no longer need, or stealing it from them when they go to kill it.

To be honest i have no idea if Havoc and Executioner apply to only melee or if it is both melee and magic, but my Evelynn takes advantage of Lich bane so she still melees either way. If you have an answer, please comment:)

Summoner Spells

For summoner spells i go with a simple and But other possibilities are .

Other possibly ones... i guess... and . Before you bash me TOO hard, i put smite as a possibility because it makes for a great tool steal jungle mobs from enemies grabbing your oh so beloved blue and red buff, baron stealing and a secondary farming tool. I'm in no way saying you SHOULD go with it, but its there...

Items

I go for an odd start to my Evelynn build, making her look VERY much like support. I start by grabbing a for the early HP regen to deal with harassment. I then go back and build that into a Philosopher's Stone for the gold, mana and increased regen. When i can afford too i go back to buy my for increased movement and faster crossmap travel. Next i build and leave it until I get enough AP for a . After Sheen i grab a Kage's Lucky pick for, again, the increased gold rate. But don't worry, we'll be using this one later unlike our poor Philosopher's stone.

So right now we have Philosopher's Stone Kage's Lucky pick .

Next, we need to look at the enemy team a little bit. If they are highly mobile and constantly outrunning you and your team and they don't have much for magic resist built, grab a . If they ARE building massive magic resist, build yourself a . After that, build whichever one you hadnt before.

So right now we have Philosopher's Stone Kage's Lucky pick .

Remember that sheen? Yeah, time to change that baby into a , then build your Kage's Lucky pick into a . Now the ender of lives and your coinpurse, start work on your . Replace your Philosopher's stone with the needlessly large rod and then finish it.

End build . An EXTREMELY expensive build and chances are you wont get it all done. Remember this is ADVICE not concrete, build in any order you see fit.

Skill Sequence

I start with to make early game farming easier, and you dish out more damage with this than her by spamming it. Also makes her a bit more mana efficient at early levels. at level 2 and 3 grab stealth, then max out ravage.

R>E>W>Q after level 6.

Creeping / Jungling

Creeps aren't as important for Evelynn as they probably will be for your laning partner, but you still need them. DON'T waste stealth OR Ravage on creeps, if your still stealthed, go scout the bushes just to be sure that no one is sneaking up on you/warding. Remember, surprise warding is NOT Evelynn's friend. Use only Hatespike, your Q, to farm.

Team Work and Ganking

NEVER be the first to engage a fight unless you can be sure it will be 1v1 or better odds in your favor. In fights focus down the ranged/squishies, leave supports (unless they don't have much defenses built) alone. Make sure to kill, then RUN (ult refreshes on kill/assist). Wait for stealth, kill, RUN. rinse and repeat. remember, with ghost and your ult you can even dive into a 1v3, kill someone at low hp and get out before they can catch you. Don't do that if they have stuns.

For ganking, start by stealthing, then scout out the area that the fight will be in. Engage by coming out of stealth with ravage and pop your ult for better attack speed and movement speed. SPAM hate spike. If more people join the fight, DO NOT HESITATE TO RUN. You will have more chances to kill.

End of the Line

I am by no means a "master" Evelynn player, i have my good games and bad. The newer champions have been absolutely BRUTAL on people playing Eve. I have based this guide solely on my experience playing stealth champions and having stealth champions played against me. Just remember when reading this guide that ALL player made guides are exactly that, guides. Use them how you will, experiment with them and alter them to fit your style, situation and needs. Leave a comment with concerns, thanks or questions below i may think about looking at the comments at some point.
