WHY WOULD YOU GO 2 MID WITH SMITE ARE YOU A RETARD!?!?!?
You go 2 Ap's mid one of them full on AP with some SV. The other a bit more tanky also with SV. the reason you both have smite is this: Get ALL(!!!) the blue buffs and ALL(!!!) the camps and the golems. smite are going to help you with that. and its gives awesome early game power. Remember it only works if your team has great cordination and NO JUNGLER!!! and the enemy team HAS A JUNGLER. Then top will still be 1v1 and on mid you will both roam a little bit but your main thing will still be mid. and its 2v1 mid = you win mid + take pressure off the other lanes becuase the jungler will babysit mid. so this is the thought behind it all.
