Introduction

Hey, I'm Meteos, the jungler for Cloud 9 and this is my Kha'Zix guide. Kha'Zix has been a top tier jungler on and off for a while and he's recently become more popular after patch 4.13 when the other top tier junglers were nerfed. Kha'Zix has some early game pressure, high mobility, strong scaling and incredible carry potential.

Pros & Cons

Pros
+ High damage
+ High mobility
+ Strong poke with W evolved
+ Good carry potential in solo queue

Cons
- Not a lot of utility
- Not useful if he gets behind

Runes

I use Greater Mark of Attack Damage, Greater Seal of Armor, a mix of Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction and Greater Glyph of Magic Resist, and Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage. These runes help Kha'Zix the most with his jungle clear because he's an AD caster so he relies primarily on his abilities to clear the jungle.

Masteries

I use 21/9/0 masteries on Kha'Zix. These masteries are standard for offensive AD junglers and help you deal more damage while taking the basic defensive masteries as well.

Skill Sequence

Take Q at level 1, W at level 2, E at level 3, and then max W. Because Kha'Zix's W does extra damage to monsters, maxing it first allows you to clear the small minions in jungle camps really quickly in order to get the big creep isolated. After maxing Q, max W and then finally max E last.

For evolutions, you should usually evolve E at 6 and either W or Q at 11. Evolving Q at 11 will allow you to deal extremely high damage to isolated targets and evolving W will allow you to poke and give you a big AoE slow. Try to judge how safe it is for you to jump into a fight when deciding which ability to evolve. If the other team has a lot of burst and CC, it's better to evolve W so you can be more useful without jumping into the enemy team.

Abilities

(Passive) Unseen Threat
Kha'Zix's passive gives him a buff that causes his next auto attack to deal additional damage and slow. He gains the buff whenever he can't be seen by anyone on the enemy team.

(Q) Taste Their Fear
Cooldown: 3.5 seconds
Kha'Zix's Q is a single target, melee range nuke that deals more damage if the target is isolated. It has a low cooldown so this is Kha'Zix main ability that he uses when fighting in melee range.

Evolving Kha'Zix's Q increases the range of his Q and auto attack by 50 and makes it deal a lot more damage to isolated targets.

(W) Void Spike
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Kha'Zix's W is a missile that deals AoE damage on impact and slows the targets that it hits. If Kha'Zix is standing next to the impact, he gets healed as well. This ability does extra damage to monsters which makes him a good jungler.

Evolving Kha'Zix's W causes him to shoot three missiles instead of one and it increases the slow along with granting vision of the target for a couple seconds. This evolution gives Kha'Zix a bit of wave clear and poke.

(E) Leap
Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14 seconds
Kha'Zix's E is a 600 range leap that deals AoE damage on impact. The ratio and base damage for this ability is really low so it's primarily used to reposition and to get in/out of fights rather than for the damage aspect.

Evolving Kha'Zix E increases the range by 300 and resets the cooldown of the ability whenever Kha'Zix gets a kill or assist. This is really useful for team fights because it lets Kha'Zix jump out after jumping in to get a kill.

(R) Void Assault
Cooldown: 100/90/80 seconds
Kha'Zix's R is a short duration stealth with 2 charges that increases his movespeed while stealthed. This ability in itself isn't that strong, but it also lets you evolve one of your other abilities every time you rank up his ultimate. One bonus with this ability is that it resets Kha'Zix's passive when you use it so your next auto attack will deal bonus damage and slow.

How to play Kha'Zix

Kha'Zix is strong because he can do a lot. His weakest point in the game is his first jungle clear before he buys items and even that part isn't bad either. Focus on farming early game and only gank when it is guaranteed. If you fall behind on Kha'Zix it can be really hard to catch back up. Once you get Ranger's Trailblazer with Warrior Enchantment and evolve your E, your ganks get a lot stronger and you can look to pick off people who are isolated. Don't worry about forcing plays too hard on Kha'Zix because he outscales almost every jungler due to the amount that he can do in a team fight once he has his spikes evolved.
