Harder lane than before the juggernaut patch due to darius's q cast time which makes it much easier for riven to dash in and reduced damage plus neglect the heal. Early darius can still win but keep riven's dash in mind when using q. Riven also can beat darius level 1-3 so keep that in mind. Grab doran's shield or blade its up to you. You can grab cloth armor and 5 pots if you're not confident.
Garen
Darius vs garen is a fun lane to play due to how easy it is if you know what you are doing. keep using q when garen go in to farm and w early before garen qs you. Overall, darius has more damage due to passive and ultimate. However, always be offensive against garen as he can easily heal up in lane due to his passive. Go doran's shield.
Nasus
This is generally an easy lane for darius as nasus has to go in and q minion to get his stacks up. So, simply q when he goes in for farm. When fighting him, remember that his ulti gives a decent amount of health so use your ult a bit later than usual. Other than that, the lane is fairly easy. Watch for ganks tho as his slow is thick. Go dorans shield.
Irelia
Irelia is also fairly easy to vs in lane but only early as she is not so strong without items. Same thing, q when she goes into farm and try to get first blood on her.The only thing that will trouble you is her stun. Go Doran's shield.
Gnar
This lane is like a bowl of **** that ****ted out a turd that spelt ****. This **********a will constantly throw his boomerang like he doesnt give a **** and harass you when you go and farm. ****ing aids.And he gain heaps of stats from passive when he goes into mega mode. Legit, you can either try to get first blood or sit you *** at tower and try to freeze the lane. You might as well grab a coffee cause you'll be sitting at the tower all day until your jungler comes. Try to get first blood by getting lvl 2 ASAP and going in on him. If you get a flash then its good because you can beg your jungler to gank within 5 mins. Grab a doran's shield if your feeling lucky or go crystalline flask and pots.
Malphite
Not to hard this lane. Just q when malphite goes in to farm and fight when lvl 6. However, be careful of ganks as his ulti is quite strong and can easily dive you at your tower. Also, try to neglect his shield from his passive by dealing constant damage. Easily achievable with a few q and darius's passive.
Shen
This is a good lane for Darius. As usual, q when he goes in to farm and fight when lvl 6. Just time you q so that it hits him when he doesn't have his shield. Also, don't worry if he's throwing Vorpal Blades all the time, just q back at him even if he shields it to get the 10% health. Be wary when he ults as your e (Apprehend) can interrupt it, so do it when necessary. Lastly, watch for ganks as the shen can dash and taunt you causing you to either flash or die.
Jayce
The good ole counter to darius. In this lane its a bit hard for darius as he can get poked with ranged autos and q/e combos. So, try to get first blood as always by lvling up to 2 ASAP and going in or, try to q when he goes in to auto you. When initiating on him, try to save your pull as he can knock you away easily with Thundering Blow. However, you win at lvl 6 against him but during the laning phase when farming, just don't take too much poke or he will go in and kill you. This might mean having to farm under tower for a bit or freezing the lane outside the tower range. Ask for ganks if necessary. Grab a doran's shield if your confident or crystalline flash to be safe.
Maokai
This is another easy lane very similar to Shen. So, as a result, do the same thing in lane as you do when vsing Shen but keep in mind he has more pokes due to q and e. Also, watch for ganks as he can bring a bit of cc while protecting his jungler with his ult. Usually he will go Teleport so keep that in mind and pull when necessary.
Aatrox
Not a lane you see too often (in my elo anyway) but this is a bit more tricky due to his passive. You beat him early so try to get first blood as always but if you don't, it can be a bit annoying. Dodge his E and try to harass with q whenever. The only problem is that he can easily heal up with w. When fighting him, just be careful as he is adept in duels and can easily beat you due to heal, attack speed and his ulti. Lastly, when he qs, a double circle will appear like darius's q so move to the outer circle to avoid getting knocked up. Also, try not to dive when he has passive because he will just revive. You should dunk him even when he has passive because you usually have enough damage to kill him afterwards with a q, auto, w. Finally, take ignite to reduce his healing.
Jax
This lane is similar to irelia as he usually gets strong once he has items. So, early game try to get first blood on him by getting to lvl 2 and fighting straight away. If not, then q him when he goes in to farm and try to kill him at lvl 6. Try to not give him any kills as that will make him get his core items where he will be super strong. Also, when he e (Counter Strike) dont auto him, just ignore him and try not to get stunned. Take doran's shield and ignite.
Fiora
This lane is a bit harder than it was before her patch. She can easily fight darius now and can actually farm easier than before. During laning phase, try at all costs to not give her a kill. If you can get first blood thats great because the lane will be in your favour. However, if you cant then just farm and be passive. Her w blocks your q easily and she can dash in if she needs to to avoid the blade of your q. Plus, she can do as much true damage as you is she ults you and gets all four points. So in this scenary, try to just farm until jungler ganks or until you are lvl 6 BEFORE her and then try to fight. Grab doran's shield if confident or cloth armor and 5 health pots.
Kennen
This lane is really hard for darius. Here, try to get first blood on him to make your laning phase easier. If not, try to harass with q without taking too much poke. Otherwise, go crystalline flask and 3 pots and play passive and just last hit even if it means losing your tower. And BEG for ganks so you can win lane hopefully.
Cho'Gath
This lane is a bit hard due to the overall tankiness, cc and damage he brings. Here you can go doran's shield and try to q whenever he goes in to farm. Dodge his q whenever possible and maybe the w if you can but its pretty hard (for me). Try to use your q and w at the same time before he w on you. Lastly, try not to be so low as his ability is similar to yours and he can kill you. Try to deny farm so he can't get his ulti stacks up. Also, don't be in way of his e when he autos the minions as you can take damage from it.
Rumble
This lane is medium difficulty as Rumble can just keep on using his q to push the wave and deal damage. So, as usual try to get first blood or q whenever he goes in to farm. Dodge his e and obviously move away from his ult in fights. Not too hard but he can be very strong once he gets liandry's torment. Go flat MR runes and doran's shield if confident or crystalline flask.
Gangplank
This lane used to be so easy. Whatever, just do q when he goes into auto the minions and try to get first blood. If not, try to dodge the blast radius of the barrels and fight him when he doesn't have his passive up if possible. Also, when he goes to Parrrley you, just q him to get your health back lol and fight him.
Dr. Mundo
Not many mundos in my league recently but same thing as usual. Just q when he goes to farm and try to get lvl 2 ASAP and first blood if possible. Lastly, dodge his q and watch for ganks and you should be fine. Sorry, but also try to make you ulti kill him otherwise he will heal it all up with his ultimate. Take ignite and doran's shield.
Pantheon
This lane is fairly annoying early as panthoen can just chuck spears at you the whole laning phase. So just go in and q him when he does that. Also, when his passive is up, try for first auto and then w to remove the shield and slow him. Other than that, try to get first blood and fight him lvl 6 and you should be fine.
Olaf
This lane is a bit wierd for me to say as i haven't really dealt with it enough. But, you should just do the standard q whenever olaf goes in to farm and try to get first blood. Be wary as his e does a bit of true damage and he gets more attack speed the lower he gets so kill him quickly with ultimate. Other than that, dodge his q and it should be good.
Ryze
This lane is less annoying since one of his ablities is now a skill shot but still is a pain to vs him. I'd recommend going crystalline flask for this (even though i go doran's shield lol) and try to get first blood as usual. If not, than stay back to avoid him hitting you with w and e plus dodge his q whenever. He is quite strong once he passive starts running so try not to fight him then. Lvl 6 you should still win if you go in ham against him with ignite.
Vladimir
This lane can be sooooooooooooooo BAD if you don't know what you're doing. Here, you wanna q him when he goes to q you and try to fight him if possible. Save your pull for his w so you can pull him afterwards. Take crystalline flask or doran's shield if you're a beast like me and ignite. (jokes).
Wukong
This lane is easy because all wukongs e into you and q and then w to run in which you an just q into roughly where he's running and start fighting him. Same thing as before, try to get first blood or fight him at lvl 6 with ignite. Watch for ganks tho as his ulti works well with them. You can choose any starting option for this lane.
Swain
This guy is really hard to vs if the other player knows what they are doing. Taking a crystalline is a MUST because he will poke you down with abilities and autos. So, either try to get first blood or play passive until jungler comes. If you wanna fight him at lvl 6 or so, try to fight him away from your minions as his ult will let him heal up which is bad. Take ignite to help you fight him.
My name is DP5 Tone and i play on the Oceanic server and is currently in silver 3. Yes, i know that you are thinking that this is not a professional guide due to my rank but as the title states, it is a guide for BEGINNERS and who wish to learn Darius as a champion in the top lane. This guide may or may not be helpful but thank you for at least visiting it and please leave feedbacks if possible as it is my first guide. This is a quick guide so there is not a lot of content but please look at the NOTES for each section to understand.
Now, on to the main man - Master of Dunk Darius.
Darius is an extremely fun (in my opinion) and easy to play champ that can carry your team (to a degree) if you know what you are doing (just dunk).
