W him right after he used the counterstrike, if he already used his Q leap he is very squishy, if you have some ghouls you can kill him at this point, but be carefull as he does scale very well and outscales.
Difficult lane, Grasp is a must try to get short trades with 4 ghouls, E W auto Q to proc grasp and disengage, If low at level 4-5 base and teleport buy some armor.
Be carefull, he can kill you level 2-3 very easily. Grasp is a must You do outscale him so getting behind isn't the worst.
Can very easily kill you or chunk you for half your health bar if you get inside his E range, give up minions to not die or take too much damage at level 6 you should be able to kill him if played correctly.
Urgot is a skill matchup you have to avoid getting flipped by him early Pretty easy after level 6, before that let him push you in.
Tank or AP are both easy lanes as long as you sidestep his Q.
Be carefull early, level 1-3 he can heavily outtrade you with his cleaver e and w. Advised to get Executioner's calling before Tri is finished.
Doran's shield + Second wind Conqueror is a must, get adaptive helm after Tri.
Level 1-4 be carefull to not get hit by his skillshots too much, Doran's shield second wind or cpot are both good vs him. level 6 you shouldn't have trouble and buy Executioner's calling.
Against fiora rushing a bramble Vest is a must. Easy to deal with Until she gets her second life steal item. Don't upgrade bramble, better to sell it when you are full build and buy Mortal reminder 6th item.
If you dodge Her E and she is between level 2-5 as are you you can all in with 3 or 4 ghouls.
Avoid going near bushes because he can barrel combo you.
Avoid standing in his E for too long as this is his main damage source, whenever he is about to silence you with Q or his sword lights up press Q and auto him back .
Gnar has a lot of damage so always be carefull to not be hit with his third auto attack from the passive of his w. do not be ashamed to base at level 4 or 5 to buy some cloth armors or a tabi if you can afford it.
Be carefull early, level 6+ you should be able to beat him, Advised to get Executioner's Calling.
Second wind and doran's shield is a must, also advised to buy spectre's cowl and then just do the regulair Tri rush.
Difficult lane ban her out so you don't have to vs her.
A lot like Darius you should avoid melee trading in to her pre 6. Ofcourse its always good to throw your E and get some ghouls to damage her.
Second wind Doran's shield, then rush ninja tabi and jayce's poke will be mostly healed if you don't let him auto you too much. Further itemize in to Tri.
Start Cpot, then Dirk rush is the best against kayle, gives damage to your ghouls, all in her with 4 ghouls before level 6 and it should be an easy kill, After dirk just get Tri.
He is Exactly the same as Gnar, avoid his third ability from hitting you so you dont get stunned. At level 6 its your turn.
Grasp is good against kled but so is Conq, so just pick whichever one you prefer in to kled and rush tabi>phage.
Cpot or Dshield both work vs malphite. He is very good at setting up ganks with his q that slows you and his ult at level 6.
Similair to playing against gankplank, avoid the bushes and avoid trading with him level 3-5. Cpot and Dshield are both fine.
My way of playing against Mordekaiser is going Biscuits Footwear secondary with conqueror and then rushing a negatron cloak after get Tri, then get Wit's end.
Phase rush is very good against Nasus consider a phase rush page if you struggle against him.
Dorans shield, Second wind and get spectre's cowl and you should be able to beat her from there on.
Dont walk in to his melee range early, Poke him with ghouls whenever possible He outtrades you before level 6. At level 6 its your turn.
Be carefull of his fear and try to kite him with maiden when you are level 6. you do tend to win his all ins as long as you have grievous wounds (Executioner's Calling)
Avoid going in to melee range of olaf before level 6, treat him like darius and give him space and have him push you in.
Dorans shield mitigates a lot of her poke build a Spectre's Cowl or Executioner's calling and sit on a ruby crystal.
He is very good in to you before level 6. However at level 6 you do win with maiden he is very easy to kill.
I would advise going Lethal tempo rushing cleaver and getting botrk after, he is a tank but very easy to beat as long as you have Lethal tempo cleaver and blade of the ruined king.
Be carefull before level 6 poke her with ghouls, at level 6 look for an all in attempt with 4 ghouls + maiden.
Before level 6 treat him like darius, but also avoid being within his Leap range from bushes. At level 6 if you bought tabi and some other combat stats, (Damage/HP/Attackspeed/Armor) you will beat him with the maiden.
Try and be at least 2 riven Q's away from her most of the time, Both Grasp and Conqueror are viable in to riven.
Doran's shield Second wind Spectre's cowl and you should be able to beat him with 3-4 ghouls at that point very easily.
Ryze outpushes you early with good damage so just let him push you in. If you build Spectre's cowl on top of your Dorans Shield + Second wind You can mostly ignore his poke.
Shen is not difficult because of shen himself, but when an opponent is low shen can ult them, he is difficult to beat in lane level 1-3 CC Tankyness and damage Communicate his level 6 to your team and try to splitpush.
Don't chase him in his poison, just keep throwing ghouls at him until he dies, auto q disengage if he melee runs up to you and try to avoid taking poison damage.
Cpot is a must, poke him with 3-4 ghouls, you should be able to all in him level 2-3 with 3-4 ghouls He scales very well and can ignore you completely when he has sunfire and titanic hydra, so need to be ahead before he gets there.
Spectre's cowl, Dshield and Second Wind are great in to teemo, Avoid hitting his shrooms whenever possible.
Don't trade auto attacks in melee range as trundle will win every single time you do that, try to poke him with ghouls before melee engaging, buying Executioner's calling is advised.
Dshield second wind, Spectre's cowl is overkill just rush Tri every time you hit E and cage him up with 4 ghouls you should either get his flash or a kill
Start cpot Both conqueror and grasp are fine, Could consider a phase rush page, with conqueror play a bit safer early, Have to kite him, melee tanking his damage is the way to lose the 1v1 so always try to kite and have ghouls/maiden do most of the damage.
Be carefull before level 6, at level 6 you should melee beat him, it is advised to rush tabi and get Executioner's calling.
Just like you, this is another yorick if he is at even skill level you have a 50/50% chance of beating him if both of you build similairly.
Dblade start is good vs yasuo you can kill him level 3/4 with 4 ghouls as long as you run conq, be careful and don't push the wave, instead back off and sit back and wait for yasuo to push the wave towards your tower.
Very weak 1v1 but great gank setup, be carefull to not get flash ult ignited under his tower because you may die to that. Overall he should be easy to kill 1v1 but i would recommend going triforce before sanguine because its safer as he has very good gank setup.
Abnoxious and strong level 1-6 but doesn't scale well, sunfire rush with conqueror or grasp is a must against sett, should beat him after Tabi+sunfire and after just get Tri.
Weak against all ins but you also win short trades with ghouls advised to go Tri>Youmuus she can dash out of the cage sadly but not a threath in the 1v1.
Very similar to playing against yasuo, let him push you under tower and don't even try to push the wave, level 4 you should be able to kill him if you are full health and have 4 ghouls/graves.
Has good cc which makes him synergize pretty well with yorick
Good cc amumu can also build some ap and do a decent amount of ap damage there is very good synergy with him.
Ivern has a nice root on his q can give you a good shield and when he roots someone you can go in on them he really allows you to get in range and deal your damage
Can gank from lots of angles has a knock up gives you time where you can damage ur enemy withouth them being able to retaliate.
Just like amumu and reksai vi has great damage and cc making her the ideal jungeler for yorick.
Good cc, his passive gives you a lot of time to fight enemies withouth risking ur jungeler dying when he is low health because its a zac
Great ganks good cc good amount of damage.
Good ap damage but doesn't provide much cc wize
Good cc and has damage of his own, when he ults someone you can land your E very easily.
Good amount of cc and damage can really be helpfull with her stun and her repel gives you time to get more damage off without fearing her dying for plays where elise is about to die.
Good amount of cc very helpfull and a strong ganker.
Good cc really enables you to win skirmishes that would be close otherwise as his W is both a stun and shield and his passive provides him with good damage for skirmishes and duels.
His axes can slow an enemy making them unable to get away making him a very good ganker and fun to play with as Yorick.
Has a knock up on his ultimate and is generally a really strong fighter, look to help him with skirmishes whenever possible unless you miss exp/farm for doing so.
Anivia can clear mid waves very quickly denying the opponents the ability to siege mid, this works very well with a split pusher such as Yorick as this gives us time to pressure the sidelanes without having the team die or losing towers in mid.
Good cc in fights, really helpfull in skirmishes.
Champion Build Guide
Hello everyone and thanks for the support this far, for season 11 I will make a new Yorick guide, copying things from this guide will occur as I think it contains some very helpful information that's difficult to replace, That being said I will no longer update this guide and it will be archived when 2021 begins until then you can still read the things on this guide, and I'm unsure how it changes when I archive it.
There are multiple reasons to play Yorick I personally find his kit very satisfying and I don't mind his early game being bad because I tend to play towards his strengths.
1 - He is great at skirmishes when he has ghouls
(1v1, 1v2, 2v2, 2v3, 3v3,1v3 fights especially when fed)
2 - Easy csing
Because you get full gold and experience for every Minion or Jungle camp your ghouls kill and if you failed to auto a minion to low enough health in laning phase you can press q because its an auto-reset also known as you immediately get another auto-attack, which in this case is amplified by your Q.
3 - Insane map pressure
If you have ghouls in both sidelanes no single champion on their own could match both those side lanes at once while you as Yorick are then still able to be around team fights or objective fights.
4 - Dragon or baron taking
Yorick is insanely good at taking objectives such as baron nashor or dragons because his maiden gives him a lot of damage against those objectives and ghouls generally tend to do a lot of damage to the dragon or baron or even jungle camps aswell.
5 - He is Fun
I think I speak for all Yorick mains here when I say this sometimes I want to play another champion and then 2-3 hours later I just find myself playing 5 Yorick games before I start realizing that I wanted to learn another champion that same day.
This means that right after finishing those levels or items you are significantly stronger and are for a small amount of time able to duel other players who haven't reached their power spike yet or simply are weaker because of you having the power spike or were already weaker, thus you have an easier or quicker time killing them in a 1v1.
You However do want to be careful with trying to abuse power spikes Especially into bad or skill matchups because those enemy champions will also have power spikes when they finish certain items or get to certain levels.
And laning phase can take longer for you or for your ADC, or you depending on which of the T1 towers stand longest.
So after that when either all Tier 1 turrets are gone or either side has captured the other one's tier 1 tower in either top or bot you do want to either roam, have your team group mid.
You have a couple of options
- 1 Splitpushing
- 2 Rotations
- 3 Grouping with your team.
- 4 leaving ghouls in the sidelanes and basing to be at a fight in mid or other objectives
(basically, a rotation but ur ghouls are pushing out both sidelanes and you get to base and buy new items and then move from there.)
Minion waves come in every 30 seconds from your base and walk from there to the center of the lane to fight each other
The caster minions require 1 tower shot and 1 auto-attack to kill
The melee minions require 2 tower shots and 1 auto to kill
(but before you have a longsword they require 2 auto attacks and 2 tower shots to kill)
This means that after the tower hits the minion those 1 or 2 times you want to auto-attack the minion so you get the gold or in case you are low level and lack the ad to do it with 1 auto you want to auto the minion before the second tower shot and after the second tower shot.
There are 3 states in which a lane could be
Besides that Yorick scales very well with damage and health, both your ghouls and you scale with AD and health so it's often better to get to 150-190-ish or around that number armor or Mr whichever you need the most.
And then go for health+damage focussed builds because it provides you the most dueling power and going full tank doesn't make you as strong in the 1v2, 1v3, 1v4, 1v1, or 1v5, or in team fights even you are better off going a health+damage focused build with some Armor and MR.
Some items explanations might be added in the future, Note that any items not included in the ''Items'' Section in this guide should be avoided in ranked games,
I leave the explanation here so you could see what made them good previously.
I started playing League in the middle of season 7 and I'm currently 22 years old.
I decided to make this guide because I enjoy playing Yorick myself and I feel like this will help other people enjoy or learn playing Yorick I do think he is undervalued or not being played enough for how fun of a champion he is.
For questions, you can find me at the Yorick subreddit, (Defensivity1 in the subreddit)
or in the Yorick mains Discord (Defensivity there)
Or you can shoot me a message on Mobafire or post a reaction or question at discussion or send me a private message on twitch where my name is defensivity1
This is my second attempt at making a Yorick guide, now I'm more informed and learned more than I had learned when I attempted to make a guide the last time and I do hope this guide helps other people to enjoy or learn to know how to play Yorick.
I ended up getting Diamond in both s9 and s10.
I reached 1.5 Million mastery points on Yorick at 3:12 in the morning at 13-9-2020
And this is my favorite champion if anyone asked Yorick would be my answer.
