Hi, I'm Exzirion and this is my guide on Galio. First of all, I am in no way a pro at this game. I'm just a normal player that enjoys Galio. Galio is a tanky ap champion who can make or break teamfights with his ultimate. This guide is still in progress and I will be adding a support Galio guide soon.

For runes, I take magic pen marks, armor seals, MR glyphs, and MS Quints. I take Magic Pen to maximize his damage output, Armor to help against AD mids or AA harass during the laning phase. I take MR glyphs to get some extra AP from his passive and to take less damage from AP mid laners. MS quints help for positioning, escaping ganks, chasing down enemies, and much more. Health and AP quints are also great on Galio.

I take 0/21/9 on Galio to make him tankier and to get the CDR from the utility tree. Summoner's Insight is awesome on Galio. It is very important to have flash up as much as possible so you can initiate teamfights with a flash ult combo. Summoner's Insight, Mastermind, and Distortion combined will reduce your flash CD by 120 seconds.

Some great items to consider are:
Doran's Ring Doran's Ring: The extra AP and HP make this a great starting item for Galio.
Liandry's Torment Liandry's Torment: This item is amazing on Galio. It greatly increases damage and since you have a slow and a taunt, the burn effect will do double damage.
Kage's Lucky Pick Kage's Lucky Pick: Getting one of these early is great. It's A GP5 and gives you some AP as well.
Shard of True Ice Shard of True Ice: This is basically a upgraded version of Kage's Lucky Pick. If you don't feel like selling your Kage's and want a nice little aura and active, this is a great pick.
Iceborn Gauntlet Iceborn Gauntlet: It gives you HP, Armor, CDR, AP, and has a nice passive.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter Rylai's Crystal Scepter: You can switch out Rod Of Ages for this if you want to be more tanky.
Warmog's Armor Warmog's Armor: It gives you a enormous amount of HP, so if your the tank of your team, you might need this.
Void Staff Void Staff: Gives you a nice increase to your damage and works great with your ulti.

Basically any Tank or AP items are good on Galio.

Recommended Spells
Flash is a must on Galio. You use it to initiate teamfights, escape enemies, and to chase enemies.
I take Ignite as a finisher spell. Ignite can get you a couple kills and save you in situations.
Other Viable Spells
Heal is a good spell on Galio. A good ult and heal combo can be devastating.
Exhaust is good on support Galio and mid Galio. Its nice to have it to chase enemies down or to escape a pursuer.
Teleport with a well coordinated team is amazing with Galio. You can use it to turn around a fight, gank a lane, or just get back in your lane.

As Galio you should be going mid or top lane. Poke your lane enemy and dont forget to ward. You should be building according to your enemy team. If their team is very AD heavy, you might want to change up your build and get armor. If the team is caster heavy, this is the best situation for Galio. Carry on with building MR and completely destroy them. In teamfights you need to look for the perfect time to flash ult into their team. If they are grouped up and bunched together that is the perfect time to ult.

R>Q>E>W
I always get a point in my ult for obvious reasons.
I max Q 2nd because the slow is really nice and it will be your main damage source other than your R.
Then E to get extra MS and its also great to poke with.
Your shield should always be maxed last because your main damage will be from your R, Q, and E.

Pros:
- He's great in teamfights.
- He counters most mid laners with his MR.
- He's Tanky even if built AP
- Has nice CC

Cons:
- Melee, it can be a problem against some lane matchups.
- No Gap Closer
- His ult is countered by tenacity
- His ult can be interrupted by some enemies.
