Introduction

Hello guys, in this guide i will explain the reasons behind why i think this particular build works better than any other build when you play evelynn as a jungler. I am ofcourse open to suggestions and discussion, but i have a feeling once you read this guide you wont really see anything you'll want to change :). This build setup turns her into a tanky assassin who has a very strong initiation in teamfights, above average damage output and amazing chasing utility.

Build order

Early - mid game

After you start the game with the standard Hunter's Machete and 5 Health Potion, you'll want to delay going back as long as you can farm or gank. Once you go back, buy Boots and work towards Spirit of the Elder Lizard. The reason i pick lizard over Spirit of the Spectral Wraith is because you'll want the dot for Liandry's Torment which you will get later in the game. Depending on your team comp, you might in some cases want to build Spirit of the Ancient Golem but that's only in case you're the only tank in your team. If you have an offtank top or mid, you should go for elder lizard. Rylai's Crystal Scepter doesnt really need any explanation, its just a monster item on evelynn giving you tankiness, damage and utility. What more could you ask for?

Late game

After getting Rylai's Crystal Scepter, the order in which you buy the next 3 items depends on how well your team is doing. If you're behind, you'll want to get Randuin's Omen vs ad heavy teams or Banshee's Veil vs ap teams as your 4th item, and Liandry's Torment as 5th. If you're ahead or equal, follow the build. In the very rare case your support isnt going for Aegis of the Legion you'll want it instead of randuin's or banshee's.

This build order mixed with your skills will give you an insanely high value in teamfights along with an incredibly high gank success rate.

Abilities preview

Her passive is what makes her a top tier pick. Shadow Walk will be something that if you learn to use, will give you a higher gank success rate than you'll get from any other jungler. You'll want to familiarize yourself with the range at which opponent notice you, and learn to time your usage of w when its actually needed. In some cases, you'll want to initiate a gank without w just to save it for a slow if the opponent has one, or for the chase.

Hate Spike is your best damage and, after getting Rylai's Crystal Scepter, your slowing ability. The crazy low cooldown of this ability is another broken part of evelynn in my opinion, but lets enjoy the ride i suppose. You'll obviously want to level this ability first besides your ulti.

Dark Frenzy is how you chase and escape. Learning to use this will make you either an amazing or a terrible evelynn, so practice it and most importantly, learn from the mistakes you make because you will make plenty just like everyone else does :).

Ravage is just another beautiful ability that along with giving you burst damage, gives you a short attackspeed buff. Max this after you maxed Q.

Agony's Embrace is your ulti. In teamfights, you'll want to stay hidden, wait for the enemy team to gather up and storm into them with this ability. Make sure your team is there when you do it though, otherwise its gonna be quite a failure :). In certain spots, you'll want to use this as an escape, but try not to let those spots happen. Work on your map awareness if these spots happen often to you.

Masteries and runes

14/16/0 are the masteries you'll want to go for. I really wouldnt change a thing but if you prefer some other points in the defense tree i guess you could change them, the offense tree is non negotiable.

As far as runes go, this build can work pretty well with your ordinary ad rune page, but if you want to be a serious evelynn player, invest in quints of spell vamp and Mark of Hybrid Penetration. These are without question the best choice for this build so after you try her out with this build, if you like her as much as i do go ahead and buy these. Go for the typical Seal of Armor and Glyph of Magic Resist. Its my personal choice but you can pick whatever else you prefer, its not as important as marks and quints.

Conclusion

I feel this build and style of play combined with her skills make her pretty much a broken champion just screaming for a nerf or a rework. The stealth, initiation, chasing utility, tankiness and damage output is just too much power for only one champion to hold on to for a long time. Once you try this build out you'll know what i'm talking about. I wont be happy when the nerf hits, but until then i'm gonna enjoy the ride and i invite you to do so as well.

Thank you for reading, have a nice day :)
