Janna Passive Ability
Introduction
In my guide I will discuss everything you need to know about her pros/cons, runes, masteries, items, abilities, summoner spells and more. I will also discuss general support strategies including warding and such.
I hope you enjoy my guide and it helps you play Janna. If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will respond as soon as possible. Also please leave a vote on my guide too.
I like playing Janna with ADC's who already provide good poke with their auto attacks or abilities, so that I can use my Eye of the Storm to deal extra damage. I also like using her with champions, who have a stun so that they can follow up and get the kill. She is also very good for the champions with good AOE during teamfights who need good peel to deal maximum damage.
I think Caitlyn's passive Headshot and Piltover Peacemaker together with Janna's Eye of the Storm deals good poke and whenever Caitlyn uses Ace in the Hole, Janna's Eye of the Storm can help deal a bit more damage which may kill the enemy.
Draven's Spinning Axe and Eye of the Storm deals a good amount of poke, which makes them think twice about going in for that creep. Also the Stand Aside and Howling Gale can be a guarantee disengage or can easily catch out the enemy ADC who decided to overextend for that one creep.
Vayne's early game got nerfed, so Janna's Eye of the Storm can make up for a bit of that. Also her Howling Gale can set up a Condemn for Vayne if landed nearby a wall. She also provides great peel, which makes Vayne more deadlier.
Ashe can follow up on Howling Gale with her Enchanted Crystal Arrow. Janna's Eye of the Storm can be used with Ashe's passive Focus which deals tons of damage, also poke with Volley.
Twitch's Venom Cask can help slow down the enemies for Janna's Howling Gale. Twitch's Spray and Pray can deal extra damage with Eye of the Storm, and with someone like Twitch who's ult does AOE damage, he needs good peel and Janna offers that.
Varus offers poke potential with Piercing Arrow and Eye of the Storm. He can also follow up with Chain of Corruption whenever a good Howling Gale is landed.
Miss Fortune requires good peel and Janna offers that. Her Eye of the Storm can also help with Bullet Time and Double Up.

Slows down the attack speed and movement speed of the enemy ADC or incoming tanks, which helps you peel for your ADC.
Allows you to make clutch Eye of the Storm, Howling Gale, and Monsoon.
These are basic support masteries that I use, I get health in the defense tier since Janna is quite squishy. I also get armor in the defense tier since I will be going against an ADC bot lane.
Runes
All of my runes on Janna are defensive since she is very squishy without them, I get armor for the ADC and magic resist to lower poke from the support or for later in the game. Quint of Health also helps with being less squishy early game.
Tailwind
The wind aids Janna's allies, increasing their movement speed by 3%. This bonus is lost while Janna is dead.
Howling Gale
ACTIVE: Janna summons a mighty whirlwind. For the next three seconds, she can then reactivate the spell to release the storm. On release the storm will fly in the direction it was cast, dealing magic damage to enemies and knocking them into the air for 0.8-1. The damage done, knock up duration and distance traveled by the whirlwind increase for each second it channels.
This ability is basically used to peel for your allies. It can be used to disengage from ganks and can knock up the enemy ADCs so they can't deal damage during duels, it also peels off enemy diving abilities.
Zephyr
PASSIVE: Janna is aided by a wind elemental, gaining movement speed and ignoring unit collision.
ACTIVE: Janna launches the elemental to deal magic damage and slow an enemy's movement speed for 3 seconds. She loses the ability's passive benefits while it is on cooldown.
This ability can be used to chase enemies, to slow them and it's passive gives good movement speed for that.
Eye of the Storm
ACTIVE: Janna surrounds a target ally with a wind shield that absorbs incoming damage for 5 seconds. While the shield persists, the target will also gain an attack damage bonus.
This ability can be used on turrets. If a shielded turret kills an enemy champion, Janna will receive the kill.
This ability is the best shield in the game, you can shield turrets and it also gives extra AD to your ADC.
Monsoon
ACTIVE: Janna emits a powerful blast of wind, knocking back enemies within 875 range and then channels, releasing curing winds that heal allies within 875 range every half-second for 4 seconds.
This ability basically disengages from losing fights or can be used when the enemy team is jumping into the back line. It can also be used offensively buy getting behind the enemy and ulting him back towards your team.
I build her defensive since she isn't naturally tanky. I also built a bit of AP to help deal a bit more poke in lane and to get a better shield.
Wards > Items
As you can see in my build I get 2 Ruby Crystal and sight ward instead of getting a Sightstone, since it allows me to:
1. Get more wards
2. You can instantly get a Ruby Sightstone on the next back, and get MORE sight ward.

Warding
Warding is very important as a support, it provides vision for your team so they can split push and such knowing they won't get ganked by the enemy team. Well the question is, "GrandSinner, what are good warding areas?" Basically place a ward where ever there is the fog of war. But notice there will always be better wards than others. Some areas give more vision than others. Place wards at the edge of bushes to maximize vision. Remember to get an Oracle's Elixir and Vision Ward when the time comes around for securing objectives, or baiting a fight.
Peeling
During teamfights peeling for your allies is the most important thing. If you're doing it right, your ADC shouldn't even be touched by the end of the fight. Whenever the enemies get close to your ADC knock them up with Howling Gale. Remember to use Eye of the Storm to shield and maximize damage from the ADC. If they have a full on diving team comp, use your Monsoon once they start jumping in. By Monsoon the enemies have wasted their gap closers and your ADC is safe.
