Lore

''Be advised - there has been an outbreak of lamppost-shaped bruises in the League of Legends.'' - Gragas

It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax, for whom the argument could be made that he is the most prolific tournament fighter currently at the Institute of War. Before joining the League, Jax was an unremarkable soldier-for-hire. For reasons known only to the former leader of the League, High Councilor Reginald Ashram, Jax was put on the top of the list of candidates to receive a League Judgment - the interview process that either accepts or rejects a prospective champion. His Judgment was the quickest in League history, where the Doors of Acceptance glowed and slowly swung open as soon as it began. Jax faced no recorded Observation or Reflection during his Judgment.

Jax proved himself to be an immediate terror in the Fields of Justice. The self-proclaimed ''Armsmaster of the League'' rattled off a streak of consecutive wins that to this day has not been matched. A number of summoners in the League grew concerned that the perceived objectivity of the League of Legends would be questioned by the presence of an unknown fighter who was unbeatable. For this reason, the new leader of the League (following Reginald Ashram's disappearance), High Councilor Heyward Relivash, created special restrictions for Jax to fight under. This was something the League had never done before, and something that has never been done since. The burly fighter responded by imposing his own special conditions; as a means of protest, he permitted himself to fight using only a brass lamppost. Neither the League's sanctions nor his own has affected his winning ways. The League has since rescinded its sanctions, but Jax has not; he fights and fights well with his trusty brass lamppost.

Runes

AD Runes

Mark

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Explanation : In Mark im going with AD, that will help you ALOT in early game, also if you're going for AD Runes, ONLY take AD in Mark, then take armor pen or something else in the others, AD in Glyph is 0.20 AD per, that's way to expensive for almost nothing.

Seal

Greater Seal of Evasion
Explanation : Dodge is what makes Jax epic, dodge Runes + Counter Strike will make him own in 1v1.

Glyph

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Explanation : It's always good to be able to protect your self against these AP champions, also many teams have a Hybrid champion like Gragas or Teemo, this is where the Greater Glyph of Magic Resist comes in handy.

Quintessence

Greater Quintessence of Evasion
Explanation : Dodges owns. Why? Because Jax needs them, in a 1v1 he might be able to dodge 1/10 attacks, which is epic! These Runes just makes him own even more in a 1v1. Afterwards Jax can even use his Counter Strike to dodge even more, and release a AOE stun, this is also a reason that makes him so deadly in a 1v1 fight.

Hybrid Runes

Mark

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Explanation : As a Hybrid Jax im going alittle 50-50 in Runes and Masteries, AD is always a good thing for Jax, even if he is AP only.

Seal

Greater Seal of Evasion
Explanation : Jax's Counter Strike is a dodge stun skill, also Jax needs some dodge, its kinda hard to explain, but im gonna try. Shaco is build by his damage, to max his damage he needs crits, he gains crit chance from one of his skills, the same with Jax and his dodge.

Glyph

Greater Glyph of Ability Power
Explanation : As i said above, always good to give Jax alittle of both.

Quintessence

Greater Quintessence of Health
Explanation : 26 health points per Rune, that means 78 hp more for FB, + Doran's Blade = 178 more hp then standard! This is a great way of staying in lane alittle longer, also this Rune works on other champions as well.

Alternative Runes For Both

Mark

Greater Mark of Desolation
Explanation : Armor pen is actually very good, in each team there have to be atleast 1 tank, armor pen helps you owning him, also there might be players like Pantheon which also have quite a lot armor.

Greater Mark of Attack Speed
Explanation : AS is always good for Hybrid, AS, AD, and even tank champions, it's still a pretty good Rune for Jax.

Seal

Greater Seal of Health
Explanation : Gives 5.35 hp, i mean cmon how can this Rune suck at all? This is a usable Rune for every champion, even for Casters.

Greater Seal of Armor
Explanation : 1.41 armor, this will help you from taking alot of damage from the AD champs, also a very good Rune.

Glyph

Greater Glyph of Mana
Explanation : To stay in lane for as long as possible, works for both AD and Hybrid, there isn't that many good Runes in Glyph, so i'll leave the rest of these Alternavtive Glyph Runes blank.

Quintessence

Greater Quintessence of Armor
Explanation : 4.26 armor, how can this be bad at all? This Runes is epic, it helps you resist the incomming AD. What more could you possible ask for?

Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed
Explanation : Gives alot of AS, Jax is in need of AS, this i

Masteries

AD Masteries

25 - 5 - 0.
Why? Explanation : Im playing AS/AD Jax, but im still getting items like Guinsoo's Rageblade. There is also other items you could go with, check them under Alternatives in the Items chapter. Anyway, in the masteries im going with AD, for getting a great start to own them, in Mid - Late game, the masteries dont do AS much as in Early game. You could go 21 - 9 - 0, and then also take the AP masteries.

Hybrid Masteries

22 - 5 - 3

Skill Sequence

Explanation : Jax's passive is Relentless Assault, each time Jax attacks an enemy, his AS is increased for a short amount of time. This passive is a great skill, if you get an Guinsoo's Rageblade, your AS will get increased with around 50%!

Explanation : This is Jax's Q, it leaps Jax to an enemy or a friendly target. This also deals some damage if it's an enemy you leap till. This skill is a good chase/escape way. If someone is running away from you, just leap to them, if you're trying to escape, just leap to some minions or some friendly champions.

Explanation : This skill is Jax's W, it grants your basic or skill atk some extra damage. (Depends on your skill level) This is a great skill, just press W for Empower then E for Counter Strike and in the end Q for Leap Strike. What this will do : Leap to the enemy, do some extra damage from the Empower and in the end stun with the E, Counter Strike.

Explanation : This skill is Jax's E, once its on, Jax dodges every incomming attack. After 2 sec, Jax spins around, stunning every enemy around him, this also works on minions and monsters. This is a great chase skill. Use it, wait alittle and then leap, this will stun the enemy as soon as you've leaped to him, after the stun just nuke him with your basic attacks.

Explanation : This skill is Jax's ulti, its located at R. This ulti rules! It got a passive, it does 100 damage every third hit. (increased when upgraded) It's active gives Jax armor, from his AD. (30% of his AD turns into armor) Also 20% of his AP turns into magic resist. This skill is helping Jax to be a more tanky AD/AS/AP dps.

Summoner Spells

Recommended

Explanation : Great escape spell, I know I know, you could just use Leap Strike, but i still perfer Flash.

Explanation : Great summoner spell, can be used for catching and escaping.ยจ

Explanation : Epic chasing/escaping spell, worth a try atleast.

Explanation : If you hate when people get away with low hp, Ignite is your spell, if not DONT.

Explanation : Heal is always a good skill, dont let you bother with some noobs calling you a newb, it's just a spell, and a good one. It helps you when you're close to death, it can also be used to stay in lane for alittle longer.

Explanation : Gives AP and AS, it's a new spell and a good one of them.

Explanation : Always good for CC and stun champs.

Wouldn't Recommend

Explanation : In a 3v3? Cmon...

Explanation : You're not a jungler, and your Wriggle's Lantern will help you own Dragon faster.

Explanation : Dont steal the supporters/wards work. In a 3v3 it's the wards, no need for a support champion in a 3v3.

Ranked Play

Jax tends to get banned quite a lot in the lower ELO's. If you're lucky to get through, try and last hit as many minions as possible, also kill the Dragon as soon as he spawns. If you're one of the highest lvl in the map, try and gank alittle.
