Unfinished

Hi, i wrote the guide in my University.
I'm not Finished yet. I will carry on my work in a few Days so Stay Tuned =)

Introduction

Maokai is a tanky jungler, who can clear the jungle so fast cause of his AoE spells like Sapling Toss and Arcane Smash. Maos gangs are way hard cause Twisted Advance has a good range and catch enemys for long time. Together with Arcane Smash u get a Stuntime of about 3 secs which is so long. So in any case Mao is an easy jungler. Once u get [Philosopher's Stone]] you dont need to go back. Lategame u got Vengeful Maelstrom which is hella nice in teamfights for the hole team getting 20% less dmg and when u release it u can do good amount of dmg.

Runes

For runes I take Greater Mark of Attack Speed, Greater Seal of Armor, Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist and Greater Quintessence of Scaling Ability Power.

So Greater Mark of Attack Speed I take cause you jungle faster and your basic attack does a huge amount of damage in the jungle and at ganks.
I think u can take Greater Mark of Desolation too, but i prefer AS runes for quite every jungeler in LoL. Cause u can clear the jungler faster and stay at the same lvl as your sololaner.

Greater Seal of Armor!!!! I dont have to explain it, Jungle(Normal DMG) ---> Armor (low dmg)

My Glyphs are Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist because i think u need the big MR boost in lategame, when the Ap's got their equip and doin good dmg

And as Quints i take Greater Quintessence of Scaling Ability Power cause ur spells scale with it, and ur Saiplings and Arcane Smash stays in good synergy to Jungle (u need it for faster Jungling)

Items

Items is a very Difficult thing. Every game is different and u have to choose ur items wisely.

So the Items at top i like to play but i dont play them every game.
Only Philo and HoG i get in early game and build a Shurelia's out of it.
The other items are very variable.

If you need more Armor:
Frozen Heart
Randuin's Omen (don't forget to use the active)
Thornmail
Sunfire Aegis

If you need more Mres
Force of Nature
Quicksilver Sash
Banshee's Veil
Abyssal Mask

If you need more Survivability
Warmog's Armor
Sunfire Aegis

Against Mixed Enemy teams i always take Aegis of the Legion it gives you HP, Armor and Mres. And the Aura is everytime nice to the team

If the game won't end and you are doin a good job you can take Trinity Force for more Utility and Damage

Skill Sequence

Take Sapling Toss first cause it will do the most damage at with our Jungleroute(see chapter below), you need it at level 1.
As our 1st Damage spell we take Arcane Smash cause it does the Highest amount of dmg and has a got a very short Cooldown.
At level 4 take Twisted Advance so you can start Ganking.
At level 6,11 and 16 take Vengeful Maelstrom
So

Vengeful Maelstrom > Arcane Smash > Sapling Toss > Twisted Advance

Creeping / Jungling

So we take Sapling Toss first and start at Wraiths. So throw your first Sapling at 1:04 so it is 1 sec in the Air and lands at 1:05. Throw the 2nd one when ur cooldown is finished and wait til 1:39 and throw your 3rd. You need one hit on the big wraith so you cleared this camp.
!!!DON'T SMITE!!!

After this Run to Blue Golem and tell the team to give you a big leash and so some good damage at it. Smite it if the Golem falls under 460 HP and Smite it down. After this you hit level 2 and put a point in Arcane Smash. After blue take wolves and kill them with your spells. If you Jungle fast the Wraith will spawn again right in time you are at them. So throw a Sapling in mid, Smash them and kill.
You can take out the Lizard after this, if you feel safe and you can kill him without smite. If you are scared. Take out golems before Red and wait until smite is up again.
After the last camp you hit level 4 and you should start ganking if some lanes need you. If they dont need you, go on farming.

Use the Health Potion if you need it. I normaly pop it at red.

After your 1st Recall get Boots and Philosopher's Stone and start ganking again or just clear out the jungle again and again.

Dont go on Lanes and wait until you can gank or until the enemys Push out. If you see "oh hey they are pushing and got no wards"... go there and kill them. If not FARM.
If your lane at top/bot is safe and pushes out to turret you can go through the bush on lane and go for a LaneGank. So the enemys can ward the River but wont see you.

Counter Jungleing

I always take 1 or 2 Wards with me, to ward the Enemys Red or so Protect our midcarry with it. If you know that you are far ahead from the enemy jungle and got some Wardcover, you can go and take out his Blue/Red/Wraith or if you warded his Red you can gank him at it
