Introduction

Ok so thanks to the Pick order system in Ranked I've been playing a lot of support recently and I figured I try to do my part and help the Lol community by sharing my Leona build. Before you start shouting "troll build" or "scrub detected" I'd like to say that I made this build completely from scratch with experimentation in game and no outside references. It comes out more like an Off-tank Build than true support, but with the proper balance of aggressive play and map awareness Leona can carry your team late game and save your team with well placed crowd control.

Spells

For Summoner's Spells, we'll take Exhaust to give you some extra crowd control early so you can get that first blood and a Teleport to keep the pressure off your turret or some surprise tele-ganks if your Top/Mid are struggling.

Runes

Again this isn't a standard support build so we don't have the normal GP10 runes for support, instead we'll focus on capitalizing on Leona's natural tankiness and making her a serious Hit-taker in bot lane, saving our carry by drawing aggro and keeping us alive so we can keep our carry farming and keep getting the extra gold from our Philosopher's Stone & Kage's Lucky Pick. To do this we take Flat HP Quints, Flat Armor Seals, Scaling MR Glyphs, and we'll take Flat AD Marks to give our autos a little extra oomph, since we'll spend most of our time standing on the enemy carry's nuts or beating towers senseless. The Marks are kinda a personal choice, so if you have something that you're more comfortable using, more power to ya.

Masteries

Again with the Masteries we'll focus on tanking damage and add a little extra CDR, AP, and Magic Pen to get the most out all that crowd control you'll be dishing out by the plate-full.

Item Progression and Play

The items start out pretty standard for supports, HP and Mana Regen to keep us going and give us a jump on our first GP10, a ward to protect our lane, and an HP Pot to keep us jumping all in to spoon-feed our ADC those early kills he so desperately needs. When we earn about 500 gold we'll try going back to get our Philosopher's Stone and more wards of course. With the addition of the potato and the runes/masteries we set up earlier we'll be terribly tanky and have the regen to keep going in on all those delicious squishies in bottom lane.

After a successful all in or two we'll probably have some spare funds to toss around so we'll jump on Kage's Lucky Pick to keep the gold flowing in, some Vision Wards to keep control of our lane and allow our Jungler to have a clear path to come gank for us, as well as some Health and Mana Pots to keep us topped off for our all ins. Next item is a toss-up between our Chain Vest or Giant's Belt, I like to save up for the belt but if we're struggling in lane we can go ahead and grab the vest to keep the enemy carry from shredding us, always buying wards to keep the lane under control. We'll go ahead and grab the other of the previous items mentioned next to keep our build order on track, then we'll start building Magic Resist to increase our survivability as the game begins to leave laning phase.

Since laning phase is ending and we'll need to get around faster, so we should get some boots and finish our Sunfire Cape to make the most or all that time we spend hugging the enemy squishies to death. We'll continue to get tankier and get some much-needed CDR as we complete our Spirit Visage and grab Mercury's Treads to counter enemy crowd control. Before we start wrecking the enemy team with our damage we want to get the Homeguard Enchantment for our boots to keep our towers and inhibs protected. Now we'll really start getting scary as we build a Blasting Wand and finish it into an Ohmwrecker to keep our team pushing strong as well as making the damage from all those stuns start to wear on the enemy carrys. We'll sell our Lucky Pick and get a Seeker's Armguard to keep our armor and damage up, finishing into the wonderful Zhonya's Hourglass to max your damage and make any focus you catch from diving turrets worthless. Our last item is the Tank/Support staple Aegis of the Legion to provide a little extra buff to our team and make us the tankiest MoFo on the Fields of Justice.
