Introduction

Work in progress, updating daily.

Now I can't really say that I'm the best Shyvana out there, considering she just came out. But I feel like I do exceptionally well with her every game with the build that I have created so I figured, hey why not make a guide. Shyvana has many possibilities. I like to take mid(lol)if allowed, if not I take solo top if they have a jungle. I sometimes also might jungle Shyvana.Btw this is my first guide and I will try to make it as detailed as possible to get the most of the champ Shyvana.

Pros / Cons

Pros
- Excellent farmer
- Very good ganker, Can use Burnout for high mobility
- Can easily gap close or get away with Burnout or her ultimate Dragon's Descent
- High burst damage
- Not to bad of an initiator

Cons
- Early game can be difficult until you get Madred's Razors or level up Burnout
- No CC(Her ultimate Dragon's Descent knocks back all enemies caught in the skillshot)

Masteries

My personal choice is the standard 21/0/9 build

With obvious points in Cripple for the extra exhaust buff, and Utility Mastery for the increased 15% duration of buffs, red, blue, barron.

I also took Archaic Knowledge which can be iffy but her Ultimate and her E move both are magic damage so not a huge benefit but it definitely helps.

Runes

9 Mark of Desolation because AD Pen is the way to go in my opinion, cuts through creeps/towers/tankier champions. You can take attack speed marks also, but I have benefited more from AD Pen

9 Greater Seal of Armor Armor really helps her squishyness early game so these seals are a great choice.

9 Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction CDR on Shyvana is amazing. All her abilities have short CDs to begin with. And all of her burst comes from her abilites so you want to max out at 40% asap, and these glyphs help you get there faster.

3 Greater Quintessence of Desolation Back to armor pen. I like all my ad champions to have a high amount of armor pen and this is what I've always found to work best. You can experiment with different quints but these are my go to runes.

Summoner Spells

Flash Flash is an excellent summoner spell. You can use it to gank, escape or close gaps. You can also flash ahead of your enemy and use Dragon's Descent to knock your enemy back into your allies or away from the turret. The knock back isn't very far but it helps. This technique definitely requires some practice.

-

Smite If you're jungling and not using this, you're doing it wrong.

-

Exhaust I like this spell because you can use it against ad carries to get that extra advantage, or it can used as a gap closer or an escape ability.
-

Ghost you could also replace this with flash but Burnout is such a better ability and on a short CD so why take ghost?

-

Heal no.

-

Ignite Possible, but I've never used it but it could work. I still prefer Flash

Skills

- Your passive. Which I think is pretty amazing. With this passive, it pays to be agressive. The more stuff you hit the better off you'll be.

Your Q. This skill does work. It even applies on hit effects, so say goodbye to dragon if you proc Wiggle's Lantern or any other minion. I've seen 1k crits on creeps at level 5.

Your W. This skill does a lot. Not only is it a fantastic AoE but it increases your movement speed by a tremendous amount for 3 seconds. Use to get away or use it to get in their face. Or use it for **** n giggles.

Your E. Now this ability is good. I have the hardest time connecting with it. I personally think its faster then other skillshots but who knows. Anyway, it does decent magic damage and melts armor. So yeah that's pretty cool.

Your Ultimately bad *** ability. This is by far the coolest looking animation in the game in my opinion. Not only do you turn into a bad *** flaming dragon, All your abilities are increased as well. Read the description for all the extra badassery;)

Skill Sequence

Can easily mix it up a bit. Really just depends on the situation.
Flame Breath --> Burnout --> Twin Bite --> Dragon's Descent(Only if necessary to pick up the kill or if they might get away)

If you're straight up in the fight already go ahead and throw Flame Breath for the awesome armor debuff and then follow up with the skill sequence.
However if you need to catch your opponent, you might have to lead with Burnout

Items and why I chose them.

I start out with Cloth Armor and 3 Health Potion even though I am not jungling, they're are some alternatives such as Doran's Blade but I like the tankier early game. This helps especially if you're solo top.

I then take Madred's Razors for the easier creep farming. Remember that your Twin Bite also applies to the proc of Madred's Razors.

Afterwords I grab Boots for that increase in mobility and quickly farm for Wriggle's Lantern.

I choose Ionian Boots of Lucidity over Berserker's Greaves for the quick CDR.

Trinity Force works exceptionally well on Shyvana because you're constantly spamming abilities. I grab Sheen first for the damage proc and Phage right after. You can buy Zeal next or just save up to buy Trinity Force straight out. But this is a must have.

Now I need to get that extra CDR so The Brutalizer is a pretty solid choice, I complete the item by buying Youmuu's Ghostblade which adds even more CDR and some armor pen with a cool active ability. I put this at number 1 slot and use it every time I fight. Don't forget because it will help you.

I took Sunfire Aegis becasue it stacks rather well with Burnout and the little AoE damage helps. Plus it also gives 45 armor and 450 hp increasing Shyvana's survival.

For your last item you have a some choices. Depending on the enemy team composition, and your playstyle. You can either get the Guardian Angel for the extra armor/MR/ and hp with the revive spell. You could get a Banshee's Veil if their team has a lot of CC or AP. You could even go a bit more burst damage with a Black Cleaver etc. The choice is yours :)

Quick note: After you have a full build you can swap out Wriggle's Lantern for a Bloodthirster. you lose some surivability, but you gain extra lifesteal and AD.

Team Work

Team fighting is basically the game winning thing to do in League of Legends. Shyvana is a good initiator but I normally try to let my tank do it. Because you will be able to pick up a few more kills then usual and get away alive if you do not go in first. Although Shyvana has great AoE capabilities and is amazing to have in a teamfight if you utilize all of your abilites.

If an ally is being ganked you can always try to save his life with your ultimate Dragon's Descent. You knock all enemies back that are caught in the skillshot.

My Build

Just a little proof that this guide does work. :) I'm open to suggestions, just try and keep the criticism constructive. Thanks!

I have not tested Shyvana in ranked play yet. Results coming soon!:)
