Hi I just want to start of with welcoming you to my guide! (just as evry guide does)
You came here maybe because you want to improve your skills with olaf or you want to try him out and doesen't know how to play this bad boy. Anyway im just going to keep it simple.


Olaf is an great champion that you can choose to play either top or jungle. In this guide im going to focus the jungle part of this champion

PROS
-Perma slow (if you land your skillshots)
-CC immune with ult
-High damage output
-Tanky
-True damage
-Good clear speed

CONS
-No escape mechanisms
-Reckless Swing takes HP
-Not the best in teamfights
-Falls off a bit late

Very basic runes.
AD marks Higher damage output and clearspeed
Armor seals Extra armor, handy before your first armor item.
The scaling magic resist is nice if your game lasts long.
Movement speed quintessencesMovespeed is needed because olaf doesen't have any natural escape mechanisms. Also handy with extra mobility and chase efficiency.

OFFENSE: 21
Double-Edged Sword - Extra damage nothing more to say

Fury - Very effective along with your vicious strikes (W) to gain as much lifesteal as possible.

Sorcery - That is good combo with your reckless swing (Q) and Fury that way you will be avavible to throw that true damage all the time.

Butcher - For extra clear speed

Feast - Even more sustain!

Brute force - Just more AD why say no?

Martial Mastery - More damage, just plain out increased ad

Warlord - More damage

Devastating strikes - 4% armor penetration is really usefull! That one time that teemo got away with 4 hp wont happen now!

Havoc - This with warlord you now have an total 8% extra damage to all off your abilities! That is awesome!

DEFENSE: 6
Recovery - Extra health regen

Enchanted Armor - More Magic Resist and armor, good for this kind of playstile since you will buy one Armor item and one Magic Resist item.

Veteran's Scars - 24 extra hp, that is almost 1/6 of an ignite!

UTILITY: 3
Fleet of Foot - Since Olaf doesen't have any dash, speedbuff etc you will need all of the movespeed that you can get. For chasing, escaping and extra mobility.

Hunter's Machete
Hunter's Machete is the optimal starting item for olaf in the jungle. Makes you deal more damage against jungle monsters but also recive less damage from jungle monsters.

Spirit of the Elder Lizard
This is the item you will need to rush! It gives you much higher clearspeed, sustain and gold.

Ravenous Hydra
After you finish this item you can throw away the B button because you will have such an amazing amount of lifesteal.

Randuin's Omen
Buy this after lizard and hydra if you play against an more attack damage based team. Its active will allow you to stick to your oponent or to run away from them. And its passive will make your 1v1 scenarios (against ad) easier when your oponent have lowered attackspeed.

Spirit Visage
Buy this after lizard and hydra if you play against an more ability power based team. I love this item since it fitts so well with this champion, it is an defensive item but when you build it on olaf your Vicious Strikes (W) will become 20% efficient.

FARM!
Option 1: You need to farm as much as possible so you can get out of early game asap! But if you see some easy kills in the lane feel free to gank. But don't sit and wait in the bush for an better oportunity.

Option 2: I like this one! If you see an enemy jungler that will start with bluebuff and isen't very strong early game you can sneak up to their redbuff and ward it after you take your bluebuff. Then take their golems (Watch the minions so they won't grant vision on you).
After you'we done this you wait in the bush at their redbuff and wait untill you can either smite the redbuff and kill him. Or just kill him and steal the redbuff from his dead corpse. If this succedes the other jungler will have an hard time while you start off your game with an kill. (THIS IS RISKY, WONT BE FUN IF HE KILLS YOU OR THE MID-LANERS COMES TO HELP HIM)

This is where the magic happends. By now you should have your first tank item, try ganking as much as possible if you're doing great. If you aren't doing very well focus on farming and ward your jungle so you won't get counter-ganked.

Here is where olaf sadly falls off a bit, but you can still provide your team with damage and you are still tanky. If you face an amumu , gnar /Mega Gnar, nami or any other champion that has an big AOE CC ability you can just ult and try to keep the enemies from reaching your team and buying some time for your team mates to recover.
