Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Until level 6, he won't hurt you a lot if you dodge his WEQ combo. After level 6, it is very hard to outplay him. Ask your jungler for a early bank, otherwise play safe.
Tip: If he uses his w and it expirates, trade with him and dash away through enemy minions. If you're in ranked, rake exhaust, it will help you a lot.
Jax
You will only be fighting against him in the top Lane, but he can also be played on mid. The reason he counters you is his e and more consistent burst damage. Bait his E, then trade him. Do not overextend him, his passive is really strong.
Akali
Akali early game is very weak, the problem starts to grow up when she hits lvl 6. She has loads of burst and easily escape from you with W and R on a minion/Monster jungle.
Tip: Bait her W, trade her but be careful with her QE.
Ahri
Hmm, Ahri can be easy to deal with. Your W blocks everything from her abilities, and you can easily juke with your E. Be aware of her charm, it can really turn the tides of a fight.
Brand
Brand can be a pain in the ***. His EQW can get you to half of your HP. Use your W to block Q and R. Do not let him harass you, use E to juke him.
Anivia
Anivia is extremely squishy at early game, BUT her passive might get you killed. Be careful with her.
Annie
Unfortunately, the only thing you can block Annie´s Abilities is her Q and also she will Dmg you with her E(think of it as a thorn mail, but even better).
Be aware when her stun is up.
Azir
Azir can also be a problem. The only way to get him caught is in early game- remember that he must start with W, which means he has no ability to escape from you except flash. In level 2, he can play defensively(farming) or starts to be aggressive and WQ on you. At late game, he is a monster, do not fight him alone unless its for a obviously easy kill.
Cassiopeia
Cassiopeia early game is kinda meh. She can be strong, and she can be weak. Just do not let her poison you, so she can't release her barrage of E.
Remember: your wall will only block her E.
Diana
Diana is almost the same as Akali, but the only difference is that she relies on her Q to dash. Block it with Wind Wall and you will be probably fine.
Fizz
Well, this matchup is kinda funny. You can juke with E, he can juke with his E. He can deny your tornado, you can deny his ult.
Galio
I really don't know much about this matchup, but It can be hard for Yasuo. He has a shield that can heal himself, and his ultimate is devastating, especially on team fights. Get mercury's as soon as possible and do not let him harass him with his Q´s.
Gragas
Another great matchup, the only thing you can't block is his E and W. Do not underestimate Gragas, he can easily push you to the tower. At lvl 6, keep your W for his ultimate.
Karma
Again don't know much about this matchup, you can deny her damage tool (which is her Q) but she can snare you and run away with her E.
Karthus
Man, Karthus is so squishyyyy as hell. Ofcourse he can make tons of damage on you, but remember, his main damage tool is his Q and you can juke it easily with E. Do not fight him to death, he can just press R and get all the glory once lost.
Kassadin
Well, it really depends, on my opinion Kassa is weak against Yasuo, but I already saw videos where he can kill pretty easily. Do not let him poke you with Q, and try to "dodge" his E, or you might get hurt a lot.
Katarina
Katarina is one of the strongest assassins the game; her only problem is CC. Wait for her All-in, block it with W and launch her a tornado in her face.
Kayle
She can be pretty though, you wanna go All-in, she just presses R and walks away. Don't forget she can reduce your MR by 15%.
LeBlanc
Leblanc will hurt you a lot. I'm not kidding. A QW at level 2 can take you to half HP. Asking your junglier won't help a lot, since she can just W away. Get some wards at level 6, Leblanc loves to roam a lot.
Lissandra
Lissandra can shut you down pretty easily. Deny your movement with w, and f*ck you up with ultimate. Try to guess when she want to go all in and press W right before she ults you.
Malzahar
A lot of people would say Malzahar could be a pain in the *** with his ultimate. It is, BUT theres a secret that almost everyone forgets- get a quicksilvers slash, and you can escape easily. Do not let him poke you a lot.
Nidalee
Just don't let her harass with her Q and you will be fine. Buy wards, she can easily roam.
Orianna
Well, you have to be smart for this one. Juke her Q and R with your E. When she has no ult, try to go all-in, she won't to a lot of damage and she won't be able to turn the tides of a fight easily.
Syndra
This is basically the same as Nida- juke with E and poke as much as you can.
Twisted Fate
Fairly easy, you block his damage tools and you can cancel his ultimate with tornado.
Veigar
His early game is ****, so just harass him a lot and he won't be a big threat to mid-game. Care on late-game, he ca shut you down pretty easily.
Vel'Koz
Can be very easy, juke with E, poke hard and remember the only thing you cannot block is his ultimate.
Viktor
Same thing as TF, but at mid-game, he has big burst.
Yasuo
WAIT YOURE AGAINST A YASUO? WELL GOOD LUCK PAL. This is the most annoying matchup for me-maybe its because I hate mirror matchups.
Farm and ask your jungler a couple of ganks. If you get ahead him, well congrats then.
Ziggs
Skillshot reliant but very immobile and squishy at early game.
Hey, guys. This is my first guide in Mobafire. I hope you like it and rate it, I always like criticism to become a better player.
In season 4 I was Silver II, but that doesn't mean I suck; I just don't play ranked a lot. Now, I´m Gold V (Hurray). :D
Yasuo is been currently one of the most strong champions due to his team fight abilities to turn the tides of a fight with QR and the kill potential- and also the glory to make those extreme plays that even surprise ourselves. Believe me, when you master this guy, almost no one can stop you.
Well then, Lets begin!
Pros / Cons
Pros / Cons
PROS
+Can farm easily +Not dependent from mana +High mobility with E +Can block skill shots with W +Low cooldowns +One of the strongest passives in the game +You can outplay your enemies +Project Yasuo is damn cool, baby!
Cons -Item dependent -You rely a lot in units to escape effectively -Does not scale Magic Resist -Hard to master

Alright lets start the real discussion here. Why the hell am I maxing E over Q?
Well the answer is this:
Maxing Steel Tempest first will give you:+20 damage each rank -Nothing more at all…
Maxing Sweeping Blade first will give you: +20 damage each rank +Reduces the cooldown to dash for a enemy target 1 second each rank +Reduces the cast cooldown 0.1 seconds each rank
Resuming: Maxing Steel Tempest will only give you +100 damage at max rank
Maxing Sweeping Blade will make you able to escape faster from ganks, juke a lot more and actually do more damage with the 2 stacks(remember it makes more 50% damage after using 2 sweeping blades in a short time), also you can trade and get out easier.
So who wins the fight?
Passing through walls
Passing through walls
WAIT WHOT?
No I'm not kidding. Yasuo can pass walls-outside and inside the monster camps. Here, see this video. This dash can help get kills/escape.
Items
Items
Well, now about items.
You want to rush for the Avarice Blade. In my opinion, if you do want to get stronger earlier, you need to get as much gold as possible.
Then rush for the Statikk Shiv-this is when you start feeling more powerful and be able to win fights that would be hard.
Then get your Blade of the Ruined King for more life steal(useful in fights) and the increase of your AS which will make your Steel Tempest get the lowest cool down its can have( which is 1.33 seconds, so you can spam a tornado every 4 seconds, which is pretty cool and useful).
Next, get the Infinity Edge. You will get really strong with this item; sometimes you might wanna build this first before BorK if you feel you're going to win very easily the match.
Next build your Guardian Angel. Now, why don't I build it last? Well, about your 4th, 5th item, the team fights will be real, and you must be dealing a lot of damage if you want to win the team fight. The Guardian Angelwill save you if they focus you, which will give your team a lot of time to focus the weakest on the enemy team and let you back up for sometime before you go in again.
Now for the last item, you can either choose another defensive item OR an offensive item.
Some people prefer Last Whisper, and I personally don't like it in Yasuo. Yes, it gives a nice Armor Penetration, but your Last Breath already does that, you just gotta use it as earlier as possible in team fights to make it useful. So, I have 2 choices: the Bloodthirsterand the Maw of Malmortius.
Bloodthirster- pick this if you wanna survive more in team fights Maw of Malmortius-pick this if the enemy team has loads of AP that might f*ck you up a little bit.
