Riven is a champion that I believe to be best played as a tanky dps. She has a good early game with decent harass from her skills and a strong shield, a good mid game with her excellent team play capabilities, and late game functionality as a survivable damage dealer or initiator.

She is easily countered by crowd control abilities such as stuns, silences, slows, and roots, because if caught in a CC, she can be easily bursted down. An ideal time to pick her is against a team with low amounts of CC, or against a team that has only 1 or no tanks.

Riven is a very strong duelist and early game laner. Four dashes that are very useful for engaging and disengaging. Doesn't use mana, energy, or health as a resource. Riven has great snowballing potential. Has two forms of CC. There is no champion that hard counter Riven.
