Champion Build Guide

[10.22] In-Depth Xayah Build and Gameplay Guide

By thelolbeast
PROS

+ Strong Wave Clear
+ Awseome Teamfight
+ Good Mid and Late Game
+ Ultimate Dodges Everything
+ Root
+ Good at Kiting

Xayah has lots of waveclear because all of her abilities deal AoE damage. She is very strong in taemfights, mostly because of the insane amounts of AoE and single target damage that she can deal. On top of that she is difficult to kill because of her Featherstorm and her root.
CONS

- Weak Early Game
- Not a ton of Mobility
- Needs to Build up Feathers
- Requires very good positioning
- Somewhat difficult to come back if behind
- Difficult to Play

Xayah is weak in the early game, and if you don't play it properly and fall behind, you will be useless for most of the game. She is difficult to play because her feathers are pretty difficult to play around at first, and that is one of the most imporant parts of playing Xayah.

Lethal Tempo

Take Lethal Tempo because it provides you with the most damage. Paired up with your Deadly Plumage, Lethal Tempo will allow you to shred through the enemies front line and it will also help out when focusing the squishies.

Triumph

Triumph is the best option here. It will probably come in clutch multiple times, each game. It restores 12% of your missing health per takedown, this bonus can easily add up in teamfights and save your life letting you dish out more damage.

Legend: Bloodline

The choice is between Legend: Alacrity and Legend: Bloodline. I go for Legend: Bloodline because we don't get lifesteal in our build until our last few items, and we get lots of attack speed early on with Berserker's Greaves and Phantom Dancer. It will also help you get your shield from Overheal.

Coup de Grace

Coup de Grace is the most consistent option here. It helps a lot when finishing low target enemies and you will be procing it most often out of the three, unless you are facing a very heavy tank comp in which case you might want to take Cut Down.

Nimbus Cloak

Nimbus Cloak provides you with some extra survivability in all stages of the game. It is very useful since every time you use a summoner you can probably use some extra movement speed aswell.

Gathering Storm

Gathering Storm has great scailing and will give you more and more AD as the game goes on, making your beast late game even stronger. If you would prefer some more sustain in the early game, you can go into the inspiration tree and get Biscuit Delivery.

Flash + Heal

Pretty self explanatory, just like every ADC you take Flash and Heal because there are the best options that help you survive in teamfights and carry them. You could also possibly choose Barrier if your supports decides to take Heal.

Doran's Blade

Doran's Blade is the best starting item for most ADC's. It gives you 2 less AD than a Long Sword but it provides you with a little extra sustain aswell as suvivability with the health and lifesteal.

Essencer Reaver

Essence Reaver should always be your first big item. The main reason we get Essence Reaver first is because it fixes Xayah's mana issues. As an ADC that uses her abilities a lot she can run of out mana a lot. Aside from that we also get 20% cdr and AD + crit which provides us with a lot of damage.

Berserker's Greaves

Berserker's Greaves is really the only option here. The attack speed is great just like any other ADC, it allows you to deal a lot more damage and to get your feathers off a lot quicker. Maybe get Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads if you really need them.

Phantom Dancer

After getting Essence Reaver you will want to get some crit, usually from a Zeal item so you can also get some attack speed. I get Phantom Dancer because the shield makes you harder to kill so you can be alive longer and deal more damage.

Infinity Edge

At this point we have 50% crit and Infinity Edge is a very imporant item, it will increase our damage numbers by a lot. With it we will have 75% crit and our critical strikes will deal 225% damage, so we will be pretty broken at this point.

Rapid Firecannon

Now we have 75% crit and with a Zeal item we will get 100% crit which is pretty huge. I like getting Rapid Firecannon because it lets us get the first auto which will give us movement speed thanks to Deadly Plumage.

The Bloodthirster

Now we have enough damage to shred through teams and we need some more defense. Bloodthirster is a great option because of the lifesteal and the extra shield, which combined with Overheal is actually a huge shield.

Clean Cuts

After casting an ability, Xayah's next 3 basic attacks penetrate through all enemies along a 900 range line, dealing 100% damage to her main target and 30 / 40 / 50% (based on level) pass-through damage to other enemies. At the end of their path, a Feather will be left in the ground for 6 seconds.
Xayah can store up to 5 empowered attacks for 8 seconds, refreshed with further ability use or upon attacking buildings.
If either Xayah or Rakan is recalling, the other may move nearby and activate their own recall to join them. Both reach base at the time of which the initiator's recall ends.

Double Daggers

Xayah throws two feather-blades in quick succession, dealing physical damage, and leaving two Feathers on the ground.
Targets hit after the first take 50% damage.

Deadly Plumage

Xayah creates a storm of blades for 4 seconds that grants her bonus attack speed and cause her basic attacks to strike an additional time for 20% damage.
If Deadly Plumage strikes an enemy champion, Xayah gains 30% bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds.
If Rakan is nearby he will also gain the effects of Deadly Plumage, while also gaining the bonus movement speed when Xayah strikes an enemy champion.

Bladecaller

Xayah calls all Feathers back to her, dealing physical damage to enemies they pass through, increased by 0% − 50% (based on critical chance). Minions take 50% damage.
Enemies take 100% − 10% (based on feathers hit) damage from a Feather.
Enemies hit by at least 3 Feathers are rooted for 1.25 seconds.

Featherstorm

Xayah leaps into the air, becoming untargetable for 1.5 seconds, during which she is still able to move, then rains down daggers which deal physical damage and leave behind a line of 5 Feathers.

Laning Phase

At level 1 get your Deadly Plumage and push the wave so you get level 2 first. If you are successful and get level 2 first, make sure to use your level advantage and engage on your enemies while they are still level 1, or make them retreat and maybe miss a few minions. After that, you should try to set up a freeze outside of tower range, which will give you 2 advantages:
1. You will be under tower so you can't get engaged on / ganked.
2. Your opponents will have to overextend for minions which will make them easy to engage on / get ganked.

In order to make a freeze, you are going to need the enemy minion wave to have more minions. Let your entire wave die and stand under tower tanking the enemy minions without letting them get in tower range. Now just last hit the enemy minions making sure the enemy minion wave constantly has about 3 more caster minions than yours.

In the laning phase you should be looking to poke the enemy ADC when they are going for cs. Keep an eye on your minions and see when a minion is low, the enemy will want to get it and while they are auto attacking your minion, you can auto attack them as they can't fight back.

Try to place your feathers in the middle of the lane, because it will give you the highest chance of landing a root. You can quickly get a root by using your Deadly Plumage, getting an auto attack and them quickly using Double Daggers followed by Bladecaller.

If a fight is about to break out near bottom lane, you should try to quickly push the wave, making your opponent have to choose between joining the fight and getting cs, in both cases you will have the advantage.

If you kill your opponents try to push the wave to ensure they miss all the minions, make get some tower plates, if you can get dragon and afterwards recall to shop and refill your health and mana.

Never forget to cs because it is your main source of gold, which is the only way you can buy items. Items are very imporant on Xayah

Out of Lane

Once laning phase is over, you should probably have a few items so you will start getting stronger. Stay close to your team and especially near your support.

The more items you get the stronger you will be, so always remember to get farm in when the side lanes are pushing into you.

Communicate with your team to ensure you will be the one getting red buff because it is probably best in your hands.

One of the easiest ways of ending the game is by getting Baron buff so always get it if the opportunity arises.

Teamfighting

The key thing to remember in teamfights is your positioning. Your positioning is what will allow you to stay alive and deal damage. Stay in the far back of your team, preferably near your support and focus the highest priority target in range.

A tip that really helps me play teamfights better is using my Tab key, aka the scoreboard. It will help you see who is strong and who isn't, thus letting you visualize and predict the teamfight, so you will be ready to react.

You will probably get dived by assassins/bruisers and you should use your Featherstorm followed by Bladecaller to survive. Your Deadly Plumage is exteremely strong and helping you shred through targets.

Thank you for making it till the end of the guide. I hope you learned something about playing Xayah. Good luck and have fun :)
