Introduction
Some I liked, some I did not.
None of them really stuck with me the way Shyvana did, though. She has incredible potential as a tanky dps character and I hope with this guide I can help you realize that potential.
I go with a fairly squishy start with only the health Phage gives you and the magic resistance that comes with Wit's End as a buffer against other players. This is where the defensive runes and masteries come into play.
I rely on the armor, magic resistance and damage reduction that the runes and masteries give me so I can do a good amount of damage early on in the game.
Sometime around mid game, when you've purchased Frozen Mallet and Blade of the Ruined King you'll start to notice your single target damage really hurts. Shyvana can't really stand up to too much damage at this point though.
That will be fixed with Sunfire Cape and, later on, Atma's Impaler. These two items will supply you with the armor to back up your large health pool and complete this tanky dps Shyvana build.

Stacking W first is necessary for this build to be effective. It gives you a good source of consistent damage early in the game and an increase in mobility that can mean life or death in the face of a gank or a bad fight. Also, when combined with the aoe damage from Sunfire Cape you can really start to hurt enemies by just standing near them.
Shyvana's Q is nice for burst damage or securing a CS but it is still a lesser priority than her W.
E is the least important ability for Shyvana, largely because it stacks with AP rather than AD. It's nice as a little ranged harassment (often times the graphic will scare off enemy champions regardless of the fact that it only becomes useful if you start hitting them when the E debuff is on them) or securing the occasional ranged CS.
Shyvana's ultimate is extremely nice because of its passive. It gives you armor and magic resistance even when not active and because of that it is an important part in making Shyvana tanky.
