Holla! I'm Callmov and I enjoy not only playing, but also analyzing builds, runes, items and gameplay which includes positioning, engaging, grouping etc. Currently I'm not a hard-core player so I stick to normal blind picks. I started playing League of Legends couple of years ago and immediately decided to stick with ADC role. I have tried almost every AD Carry, however Caitlyn I enjoy the most. I would like to share my knowledge and experience with You.

Caitlyn is well known because of her huge auto-attack range which can be used to melt down enemies in early game as well as in late game. However her ultimate has even longer range becoming the longest skill shot in the game. Her weakest phase during the game probably is mid-game. In early game she has almost none losing match-ups during the laning phase. In mid-game she kinda falls off, however when she got her core items she becomes a hyper carry if played correctly making her in overall very solid pick.

I really hope You will enjoy my guide and maybe find out something valuable to improve Your gameplay.

Pros

+ Naturally long range!
+ One of the easiest laning phases!
+ Built-in decent escaping tool!
+ Amazing early and late game!
+ Able to take objectives from safe range!
+ Great ultimate for finishing up enemy!
Caitlyn is a great pick in solo queue all day long. She can do well in almost any team comp. Using her traps correctly can offer for You and Your team to end critical team fight or Baron in Your favor.

Cons

- Weak against gap closers!
- Very dependent on items to do well!
- Average mid-game!
- Ultimate and be blocked by other champs!
- In order to become a hyper carry she needs to get her core items plus some early kills!

As per all champions, Caitlyn has her strengths, and her weaknesses. Compared to other ADCs, Caitlyn mid game can be considered as average due to the base stat steroids. Her ultimate can be blocked, for example, by a tank. Additionally, positioning with her is a key. Just try to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and You can prepare for a funeral.

Precision
  • Pick Precision as Your primary tree because of the sustained damage.

Fleet Footwork
  • It comes down to a personal preference, but currently I pick Fleet Footwork because of the healing and movement speed.

Overheal
  • Overheal provides additionally healing and if You have already full health then You gain a shield.

Legend: Alacrity
  • Due to the fact that attack speed is very important on auto-attack based champions, then I prefer Legend: Alacrity

Coup de Grace
  • This stone is very good on Caitlyn because of the damage dealt to low health champions. You never know when one auto-attack less can cost You a kill and etra money.

Sorcery
  • Pick Sorcery as Your second tree because of the additional attack speed and attack damage.

Celerity
  • I prefer this stone while it is providing additional movement speed and attack damage.

Gathering Storm
  • Gathering Storm provides additional attack damage throughout the game. For example, if the match is going for 60 minutes, then after this period of time You have gain additional 101 attack damage.

SUMMONER SPELLS
-
FLASH: The best summoner spell in the game all day long. It can save You couple of times in a single game and it can help You chase down enemies as well. There is nothing better currently than Flash

HEAL: Similar as Flash this skill can save Your life and help You chase an enemy. Heal + Flash combo is currently the best on every ADC.

PASSIVE
ABILITY
Headshot (Passive): After every 6 auto-attacks she gains a free Headshot with some juicy damage. If You shoot from the brush then You gain a free Headshot after every 2 basic attacks. Awesome synergy with critical items.

Q
Piltover Peacemaker (Q): This skill by itself isn't anything gorgeous, however if You use it as a second part of a E+Q combo and afterwards add a basic attack which will be a Headshot for 100%, then it's something worth considering.

W
Yordle Snap Trap (W): A great way to stop a push by enemy. Useful when put under the turret and in the bushes. It's a part of AA+ 90 Caliber Net+ Yordle Snap Trap+AA+ Piltover Peacemaker

R
Ace in the Hole (R): Your ultimate, which is a great tool to finish up wounded enemy. Also it could be used to initiate a fight.

Skilling Order

#1. Ace in the Hole
6 / 11 / 16

#2. Piltover Peacemaker
1 / 4 / 5 / 12 / 13

#3. Yordle Snap Trap
2 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10

#4. 90 Caliber Net
3 / 14 / 15 / 17 / 18
> > >

We want to max out Ace in the Hole because it is our ultimate and main skill for finishing wounded enemy. Then Piltover Peacemaker as it allows you to poke an enemy with basic attacks + Piltover Peacemaker. It helps in laning phase a lot. Afterwards we put several points in Yordle Snap Trap because it's a part of a important combos with Piltover Peacemaker. We level up 90 Caliber Net because we level it up at level 3 and for a while it's more than enough as an escape tool.

This item should be Your first buy in most of the times, because of the lifesteal and health. Don't forget to buy Health Potion and Stealth Ward
as well.

You should focus on this item on Your first return. Plan Your return when You have enough gold. If You have additional gold, grab
Boots for 300 gold.

As Your next potential item we can count Berserker's Greaves because of not only movement speed, but also
attack speed.

Statikk Shiv is one of the core items. It has all the necessary stats You want. 35% atttack speed is huge improvement alongside with
30% critical strike chance.

This item synergies extremely well with Statikk Shiv.
It has 30% attac speed and
30% critical strike chance.

This is the last item of these core items. Afer Infinity Edge You should be able to improve ss a dps
and start to think about two last items.

This is your lifesteal item. It's so good because it adds up 80 attack damage making You really
scary to the enemy team.

I prefer Essence Reaver as my last item, because then I have 100% crit strike chance, 100% attack speed and 220 attack damage. With this build close Your eyes and auto click until You hear "Pentakill".

However if You prefer survivability,
then Guardian Angel is a good choice
with it's passive.

Early game and farming

Usually You want to start by leveling Your Q to be able to poke additionally to Your basic attacks. You out-range every ADC, so You should abuse that. When You reach level 2 and 3, You should have all three skills usable except ultimate. Afterwards put some points in Q and then spam Your W in order to be able to set more traps. At level 5 of W skill You can set 5 traps which can help secure dragons, Baron and even win the match.

Besides leveling Your skills, You should focus on farming. With Caitlyn it's relatively easy, but You become something valuable after You have core items + boots. If You see a gap for a nice roam, go for it, just remember that You are ADC which means very squishy. Try to pass the mid-game as fast as You can, so You can carry late-game for sure.

Caitlyn has amazing range, good damage and a few combos. If You will use everything she offers, You can carry Yourself through the elo's.

Late Game

I assume that sooner or later You will get core three items and boots, so Your team could start thinking about grouping and doing some objectives. This is Your time to shine. Use Your traps whenever available, because anyway You rely most of the time on auto-attacking in late-game.. except Your E+Q combo and ultimate every now and then.

In teamfights stay behind Your team. You can do it better than any other ADC because of the range. If the enemy team is not very skilled, You can try to close Your eyes and wait for "Pentakill", however don't blame me for losing the game at the end. To be more powerful, pick Your 5th and 6th item, for example, Bloodthirster or Essence Reaver. Guardian Angel also can be viable.

Tips and Tricks

Lets take a look at some combos and useful tips.

First of all, everyone's favorite E+Q. Enemy won't be able to fart when he will be already dead. Focus on this combo. Add some traps and basic attacks and You should be more than fine.

Another interesting fact. Whenever You are in the brush, it's way faster to make Your passive active and get a free headshot. And when late game comes, You will get that free headshot more often due tu the increased attack speed.

However, the main tip is to play with logic. Understand the limits of every single champion in order to know, when to join the fight or say ADIOS. Even lost game is worthy, becaue of the experience. Analyze Your mistakes and be proud of good plays and combos. That way You will boost Your teammate's morale and improve the community for League of Legends.

That's the end of this guide. I really hope You enjoyed it and maybe even found something new or worth considering.

I would absolutely appreciate Your like and comment. If You think this guide offers something valuable, feel free to share.
