This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Dshield
This is a very hard matchup. She has damage, attack speed, a shield and the ability to stick on you.
Very hard to get effect trades on her.
Rush tiamat and look for roams when possible.
Sylas
Currently my perma ban.
Sylas is beatable with a gank but he's hard to solo kill and he cantlock you down and easily sustain a lot of hp with his W.
Zed
Sword, 3 pots/refill
This a skill matchup. You need to win early otherwise he'll outscale simply due to the nature of his kit.
Ahri
Dshield
Dodge her E and avoid her Q poke and she cant do much to you. Post 6 be careful ulting her as she can dash away. If your go to ult her try to cover her dash or cc her.
Akali
Dshield
You need to respect a good akali. Save your E to counter her E(really good if you can pull her under tower). Be careful using E on her as her E can dodge yours.
At the end of the day the match comes down to player skill.
Anivia
Dshield
You need to win this lane early otherwise she'll farm and outscale you in damage.
Annie
Dshield
You hard win pre 6.
Post 6 watch out for her burst combo.
Aurelion Sol
Dshield
Free lane. Win early. Post 6 watch out for his R as it's a disengage tool.
Azir
Dshield
Second wind + revitalize
You can easily sustain out of his poke.
This matchup comes down to player skill but it should be an easy win if you play it correctly. Look for engage and try to predict his dash with your hook/ult
Brand
Dshield
Does a lot of damage but you should win if you can get on top of him and avoid his cc. Post 6 you should win 1v1.
Camille
Dblade/Dshield.
Try to damage her before she can proc her passive shield. If you sit on your grey health and wait for Dshield/Second wind healing to stop you can easily recover form her poke.
Cassiopeia
Dshield.
Very poke heavy lane If you can engage on her you should win as she has very low armor. Post 6 watch for her ult and try to avoid getting stuck in her puddle.
Corki
Dshield
Poke lane. If you get on top of him early you win. Just be cautious of ganks from jungle.
Ekko
Dshield/Dblade/Sword & pots.
Skill based matchup. Start E lvl 1 and look to chunk him. Post 6 only ult him if he's cc'd otherwise he presses R and get a ton of health back.
Hardest part of the matchup is getting him off you as he gets a movement speed boost.
Fizz
Sword + refill
His E counters your E, Q, and R.
He's also very bursty. This matchup is fizz favored but you can win if you play it properly and trade when his E is on cd
Galio
Dshield
Not the easiest matchup but it's winnable. Look for short trades with him. He can match your roams post 6.
You win early.
Heimerdinger
Dshield
You're better off looking for roams than trying to kill him as most of them tend to place towers and permashove/sit under tower. If he blows his E and you get on top of him you should win.
Irelia
Dblade
Don't fight her when she's at 5 stacks. You can win before she gets BoRK.
After she hits 1 item the matchup is Irelia favored. Play safe and look for Q>E under tower. Don't E in post 6 as she can R and kill you if you miss stun.
This matchup is very skill based but slightly favored towards Irelia if she a good player.
Jayce
Dshield
He has good poke and will outscale you damage wise. He's hard to engage on due to his knockback.
If you are even or behind in lane with Jayce you're losing. Looking for early kills and get help from your jg.
Karthus
Dshield
Free lane. There isn't much he can really do if you engage on him.
Kassadin
Dshield/Sword + pots
You win early, play aggressive and make it hard for him to scale. Post 6 be careful for his burst but you should win until he has 2-3 items.
Katarina
Dshield/Sword + pots
I recommend going sorcery secondary with null orb and whatever other rune you'd prefer from that tree.
Post 6 just pull her with Q or E out of her ult. This is a very easy lane as long as she doesn't get ahead of you.
Kennen
Dshield
This is a pretty hard lane if the player is good. He's range, bursty and has easy cc. Go tiamat and look to outroam him as it's hard to solo kill a kennen, especially post 6 unless they're bad.
LeBlanc
Dshield
You win early. The hardest part about this matchup is learning how to trade when she presses W.
Kog'Maw
Dshield
Free lane, he takes too long to scale and has no way to escape if you E on top of him or pull him towards you.
Lissandra
Dshield
Annoying lane due to her poke and stun. The best way to learn this matchup is to play against it. This is pretty scale based as you both have engage and escape built in to your kits.
Lucian
Dshield
Very hard to get on top of him. He also does a lot of damage. Your best bet is going tiamat and looking for roams
Lux
Dshield
As long as you avoid her Q you win. As long as she doesn't get ahead you win the lane. Lux does a lot of damage at later stages of the game.
Malzahar
Dshield
Screw this champion. It doesn't matter how hard you shut him down in lane, post 6 he can just press R and get easy kills to get back into the game. My advice would be to play aggressive early and post 6 try to roam and get your team ahead since malz will eventually catchup to your lead.
Morgana
DShield
Hard to engage on her but if you do you win. Avoid her root and respect her damage at later stages of the game. You win early and mid game if you're both even.
Neeko
Dhsield
She pokes, avoid her stun.
Easy win pre 6 if you can engage on her.
Nocturne
Dshield/ sword + pots
Watch out for his spell shield and dmg potential.
All in all a skill based matchup. Look for trades when possible and avoid getting feared.
Orianna
Dshield
Poke lane, respect her post 6 due to ult.
Pre 6 the lane is very easy, look for trades when possible.
Pantheon
Dshield/Dblade/ sword + pots
Skill matchup. Avoid getting caught out when low, if he E's walk away/behind him if possible.
Post 6 if the lane is even you win.
If he's in execute and he E's place the center of your R behind him( so pretty much the leg hits him) and you can execute him through his E.
Qiyana
Any start.
Skill matchup. Watch out for her burst and look for trades when able.
Ryze
Dshield
Free lane as long as you don't let him scale
Samira
any start
You win early just dont let her scale. Her W blocks your Q
Sett
Any start
Just play smart and dodge the center of his W. As long as he doesn't go tank your should be fine in lane. Respect his damage
Swain
Dshield
Win early as he gets harder to kill post 6. You out damage him early. Play aggressive and look for safe engage when possible.
Sylas
Any start
If you engage on him he can sustain back with his W and then trade back with you since you're in melee range. Wait for ignite to be up and wait for jungler to gank you.
Current perma ban
Syndra
Dshield
Engage when her E is on cd (~20 ish seconds). She's very bursty so respect her potential damage post 6.
Twisted Fate
Dshield
Look for engages. He has no escape other than yellow card. You pretty much win at all stages unless he snowballs.
Veigar
Dshield
Avoid his cage and you win. make it hard for him to scale. Post 6 respect his point and click win-fight ultimate.
Talon
Sword + pots
Skill matchup. Depends on who know their champion better. Pretty much comes down to who can burst who. Play smart and avoid taking 3 stacks from his passive and you should win. he can match your roams and vice-versa. One of the more fun matchups midlane.
Viktor
Dshield
Watch out for his poke and cc. Look for aggressive trades early on. Viktor only becomes a problem if he scales up so don't let him.
Vladimir
Dshield
You can sustain back from his poke by sitting on grey health with dshield.
Buy executioners calling and avoid trading with him when his bar is red. E start is good into Vlad as long as he doesn't start his pool. You win the lane as long as he doesn't get a snowball. Play aggressive when his pool is on cd(~24ish secs)
Xerath
Dshield
Poke heavy lane. If you can engage on him before he stuns you, you will win the trade. Easy lane just respect his poke.
Yasuo
Dblade
Start E lvl 1 as 99% of yasuo's start Q.
Stun him, auto 2-3 times then back off limiting his ability to trade back.
If you charge hook and he wind walls walk through it if possible. A tiamat doesn't hurt as the passive can proc Yasuo's passive. Play smart and respect his damage. A good Yasuo can be difficult to deal with. Wait for him to make mistake.
Yone
Dblade
Easier than Yasuo. Start E level 1 and look for engage once there's 3 minions left. His knock-up will stop your E movement so be careful. If you can get two full E engages off with 3 hail procs you should be able to solo kill him level 2. Lane is easy until he has some crit and attack speed items.
Ziggs
Dshield
Look for engages when possible just watch out for abilities.
Zoe
Dshield
Start Q and look for lvl 1 engage. Zoe can't do much damage without her 6 or her E. The most important thing to do in this matchup is avoid her E.
Amumu
Has good cc and lock down
Evelynn
You can both do high damage. Just watch out with her R as it can make you miss your reset sometimes since she has very high damage
Hecarim
You can set-up ganks very well for him and his fear makes hitting your ult very easy.
Lee Sin
Leona
Very good lockdown cc
Nunu & Willump
Can send snowballs down mid. If enemy mid is immobile should guarantee a kill 90% of the time
Fiddlesticks
High AoE damage with R plus a fear. Really good for setting up pyke to ult
Karthus
High Damage with ult. Also really good for setting up pyke R
Malphite
Post 6 if he comes mid it should be a free kill. Also good for setting up pyke R in teamfights with his R
Nautilus
Very high cc
Alistar
Very high cc
Pyke
So ideally any aggressive early game jungler or any jungler that's capable of high AoE damage synergizes well with pyke.
Supports that have high cc synergize well with pyke in teamfights.

Hello.
This is a general build guide with a lot of info on matchups. I have over 400 games on the champ and constantly watch and note what other high elo pyke mid players do. From builds, to matchups it's all here.
I could spend the next hour typing out a tutorial or I could just link the videos I used while learning the champion. These guides are very helpful at explaining mechanics and laning as pyke.
Credit to ****Huap. This is a very good general video on the champ in the midlane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5URR5BDaN8&ab_channel=****HuaP
If you're looking to pick Pyke in the midlane I highly reccomened going through those videos and checking out Davemon's vod and twitch streams. He's been rank 1 Pyke world for a good while now and it's obvious why he's able to hold that rank with the champ.
I will do my best to keep this guide as up to date as possible.
Thank you and good luck out there.
